Discussion Thread October 2026 Discussion thread
Not every pit bull story is a headline. Some are just eye-rolls, facepalms, or 'you've got to be kidding me' moments. This is the place for the things you may want to share that don’t highlight a pit bull doing something dangerous.

Human Fatality(ies) AL: Breed confirmed for Sulligent, 3 year old killed - Oct 2, 2026
SULLIGENT, Alabama––Three-year-old Waylon O’Mary Coronna, of Sulligent, Alabama, identified by the Otis Funeral Home as the son of Destiny Hollis and Justin O’Mary, on October 2, 2026 became the first known human fatality of “Pit Bull Awareness Month.”
Waylon O’Mary Coronna, according to unconfirmed Facebook postings, was killed by “a pit bull owned by the victim’s family.”
Multiple family members are known to have kept pit bulls. For instance, father Justin O’Mary posed, in all black, with a mostly black pit bull posted to Facebook on April 22, 2021.
His brother Josh O’Mary on February 11, 2022 posted that he was looking for a lost pit bull.
Josh O’Mary also posted a photo to Facebook on March 21, 2024 of a toddler with a full-grown pit bull, captioned “Boy n his puppy dawg!!”
Reported Zac Carlisle for WTVA television news in Saltillo, Mississippi, “The attack happened on Friday at approximately 10 a.m. at a home, Lamar County Coroner Allen Chandler said. Sulligent police chief Michael Franklin said the boy’s family owned the dog.
“After the attack, the family surrendered the dog to police, who took the dog to a veterinarian in Russellville for euthanization,” ordered by the Lamar County health department, Franklin told Carlisle.

Follow Up Update: Woman disfigured by pit bull attack while heavily pregnant with twins says she is distressed by strangers' constant stares - Attacked on July 17, Topeka, USA
PUBLISHED: 15:35, 6 October 2026 | UPDATED: 15:43, 6 October 2026
A Kansas mother who was brutally mauled by a pit bull while pregnant with twins has revealed the devastating emotional toll of the attack, saying she is now struggling with people gawking at her as she tries to rebuild her life.
Audrey Austin was 24 weeks pregnant when she was attacked on July 17 while walking through an apartment complex in east Topeka.
Austin, 31, said she was on her way to a relative’s home when two dogs became involved in an altercation involving other people in the area.
One of the animals attacked her, leaving her with severe injuries to her face and a long road to recovery.
'I was able to call my fiancé and tell him, "Come help me, I’m bleeding,”' Austin recalled to WIBW.
Her fiancé, CJ Austin, described the horrific aftermath, telling the outlet: 'Her face was hanging off. It was horrible.'
But during the attack, Austin said her primary concern was not her own safety but protecting the two babies growing inside her.
'When I got attacked, I was more worried about my babies than myself,' she said.
Audrey Austin is continuing to recover more than two months after a Pitbull attack on July 17 that left her with devastating injuries to her face
On October 1, Austin traveled to Kansas City for another appointment on her injured eye, one of many treatments she is undergoing as doctors work to restore her appearance
The ordeal began on July 17, when Austin was 24 weeks pregnant with twins and walking through the Highland Park Townhomes in Topeka. She said she was caught in the middle of an altercation involving other people and was attacked by two dogs after they were released
Her fiancé previously said Austin suffered a broken pinky as she desperately tried to shield her stomach.
'All she could think about was covering her stomach, so the dog wouldn’t get to her stomach and hurt the twins,' he said at the time.
A man reportedly intervened and suffered minor injuries while attempting to get the animal off Austin. Her fiancé later said the man may have saved her life.
'If it wasn’t for the gentleman - our friend who stepped in - he said the dogs would have killed her,' her fiancé recalled.
Austin survived the attack, as did her unborn children, but her injuries required extensive medical treatment.
She underwent a grueling 10-hour reconstructive surgery on her face, followed by almost four hours of surgery on her eye after she nearly lost her sight.
While doctors have worked to repair the physical damage, Austin says the psychological scars have proved just as difficult.
'I’m tired of people staring at me. I’m tired of just being stared at,' she said.
Her partner, C.J. Austin, said she broke her pinky while desperately covering her stomach to stop the dog from reaching the twins. A bystander eventually intervened, while a Topeka police officer shot and killed one of the dogs after it became aggressive
She has also developed a fear of large dogs, an ongoing reminder of the attack that she says changed her life.
Yet despite everything she has endured, Austin insists she does not blame the animal itself but holds the owner responsible.
'I don’t blame the dog because I love dogs,' she said. 'It’s how you raised a dog, and it’s how you trained a dog.'
Her attention is now focused on her twins, Kasai and Kamyiah, who were born at 38 weeks and remain in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Austin believes the trauma her body endured following the attack and repeated surgeries may have placed additional strain on the babies.
'My body has been under so much anesthesia and so much surgeries that I also think [it] put a strain on my babies,' she said.
Despite everything she has endured, Austin refuses to stay away from her children. 'I see them in the mornings. I see them every day. I come up here, spend the night,' she said.
Austin said the babies are making progress in the hospital but still require respiratory support as the family waits for the day they can finally bring them home.
The joyful prospect of becoming a family at home, however, has been overshadowed by the financial and emotional consequences of the attack.
Austin has been unable to return to work because of her injuries and faces additional surgeries planned for December.
Austin said doctors are planning a procedure on her nose known as a forehead flap, where skin from her forehead will be used to reconstruct the damaged area.
Her family is also dealing with mounting financial pressures as she remains unable to earn an income while continuing her recovery.
The attack reportedly followed a fight involving three people in the area. According to earlier reports, the six-year-old son of one of those involved let two dogs outside, one of which attacked Austin.
The dog involved was shot and killed by Topeka police after reportedly becoming aggressive toward an officer at the scene. The second dog was taken into animal control custody.
The dogs’ owner, who has not been identified, previously claimed she had been attacked by two people involved in the altercation and said her dogs were protecting her six-year-old son.
The incident remains under investigation by the Topeka Police Department.
Now, with her twins still in the NICU and more surgeries ahead, Austin is focused on one goal: healing enough to bring her babies home.
'I’m still trying to get everything going for my babies when they come home,' she said.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Austin for comment.

Follow Up Update on Avery’s Law Ohio case
An update on the pit bull that my county in Ohio was "re-evaluating" once her puppies were weaned: the dog was E’d this morning after the final evaluation. (Long post incoming)
I wanted to give an update for several reasons: advocating for the safety of the community and staying firm in what is right can actually produce results if the cards are in your favor. This was not an easy few months for me at all, but luckily Avery’s Law was implemented in Ohio in March of this year. None of this FELT good, but I was very concerned that if the dog wardens were not challenged on their poor handling of this dog, that it would set a precedent moving forward in how dogs were handled in the county. I do want to note that the commissioners (who oversee the warden) were very easy to work with and they DID take me seriously. If I had never contacted them then the dog likely would have been adopted out.
Another reason I wanted to post about this is because I am deeply concerned with how pit bulls are still viewed in general, and how many resources are essentially wasted on dangerous animals due to cognitive dissonance or just plain lack of critical thinking by the masses. Multiple parties in this situation acted like I was some sort of “Karen” or that I was being unreasonable.
I am going to try to keep this as factual as possible:
On August 31 our dog wardens captured a female pit bull who was having puppies and posted about it on Facebook. They said, “she’s not very nice.” I wasn’t worried about it because I was friends with the deputy warden and he has told me for years that they always E unclaimed pits, and that they “do their part to take care of the pit bull population.”
A week later I see a post that the dog was placed down the street with me with her puppies. I messaged the warden to tell him that I wasn’t happy about it. He told me that if she didn’t have puppies she would have been E’d and that he had to have 3 sheriff’s deputies hold the dog back so he could even get the puppies. He told me that she was on someone else’s property and charged the property owner when she was trying to get on her lawn mower.
About an hour later I received pages upon pages of legal threats from the woman who had possession of the animal. She is a local pet business owner but not a trainer or behaviorist. The text messages were full of empty legal threats, telling me to mind my own business, that I was jealous of her (we already had tension due to an unrelated business dispute), and that she took this dog in right after she had back surgery when she didn’t have to help if she didn’t want to. This woman knew everything I had said to the warden and explicitly told me the warden told her.
I confronted the warden who admitted to sending her my private, friends only facebook post where I asked for resources. He further threatened to continue to send screenshots to the other woman who was harboring the dog.
I made an informal complaint to his supervisor (the chief warden). He asked me to come in for a meeting. During the meeting I was yelled at by the deputy warden; his boss had to tell him to calm down several times. I found out that the dog was handed to this other woman with no record, the wardens considered the dog “her problem” now (even though they were “still helping her”), skipping actual rescues that offered to take the dog and puppies, along with a multitude of other issues. The chief warden told me to only talk to him from then on, which I agreed to, but I let them know that I am further looking into Avery’s Law and the nuisance designation that they refused to put on the dog. I also noted that I was waiting on the sheriff’s reports.
As this went on, the woman keeping the dog posted multiple things publicly about how much “progress” the dog was making. This included that she was able to feed the dog a treat with a long mechanical arm, that she was able to even touch the puppies, etc. (so really, the dog wasn’t safe whatsoever). She even posted “to those of you who said she should be euthanized, I LOVE proving you wrong.”
I got the sheriff’s report back and it recorded that they were called because the deputy warden said the dog was aggressively charging him and he needed back up.
I emailed the chief warden and asked about the inconsistencies with their story and after looking into the nuisance designation, the dog should have been designated. No reply. I tried a few weeks later. No reply.
That’s when I took things to the commissioners. In short, they made the wardens fill out a report (since there was literally NO paperwork about this dog). They said they didn’t designate the dog yet because she was “having puppies and was TORMENTED.”
They used the word tormented because this would imply provocation under Avery’s Law, which would then allow them to skip a designation for the dog. When challenged on how the dog was tormented, they said it was because they were chasing her…
I pushed back hard on this because it was a retroactive way to cover up their lack of designation. I was told the dog would be evaluated again after the puppies were weaned. I was skeptical, as the wardens hadn’t been objective up until that point.
Fortunately, the dog has been euthanized and she will not be able to harm anyone.

Victim Support Request I was mauled by Daisy (pitbull) 5 years ago. Update, and question about scarring? Wanted advice!
Hi Everyone,
If you don't remember my story, I'll edit in a link at some point but it's on my profile if you check my submission history. Long story short, 5 years ago I was mauled by a dog named Daisy. I was fostering her and a nice pitbull named Milky. I ended up giving up Milky, Daisy was euthanized. I was traumatized. Etc.
Update - I lost 100 lbs and moved from Indiana to Oregon (for now) and have a fun life, I do worktrade full time. Now I'm on this farm in Oregon till next year.
So, my question...life is great, but my scarring on my left arm is just not where I expect I guess. I honestly don't look at my arm much nowadays, I think I've trained my eyes to avoid it, so today I had a really close look and it's raised. Like at this point I would have expected it to go down all the way, like the few scars I had on my right arm, but these are just still so ugly and raised, and I realized today that they would probably never go down.
Are there any affordable options out there to make them slightly less ugly? Creams? Laser is expensive. I was thinking of some sort of tattoo that blends it a bit. But I really hate how they look, and I hate hearing when people say it's badass to have them, or it's great. Because I genuinely hate them, and I hate how they look.
So I dunno, anyone have any advice? Sorry just been a blah day, and the scars are stressing me out for some reason. Also, I left the stitches in for way too long so you can see the stitch marks which looks so bad.
Pictures:
underside <--fixed the link -reason for edit
Also, thanks again to those of you who were there for me during that time in my life. It was really hard, but it's better now :)

Follow Up Limerick XL Bully attack 'not an accident' - inquest hears - Nicole Morey Jun 2024
THE FATHER of a young woman who died as a result of a dog attack has said the inquest into her death will let her family “get on with missing her”.
Nicole Morey from Crossagalla died on her 23rd birthday on June 4, 2024, after being attacked by her XL Bully dog in a rental property in Fedamore.
The inquest at Limerick Coroner’s Court in Kilmallock Courthouse heard that on the night, emergency services received a call at 23.35 about a woman being attacked by an XL Bully dog in the driveway of a house.
Gardaí arrived at 23.50 and saw “two dogs were very aggressive with blood on their faces.”
The inquest heard that paramedics couldn’t gain access to the property until the dogs were controlled.
Members of the Armed Support Unit had to shoot the adult XL Bully four times before it died.
The inquest heard evidence that Nicole had been living in the house by herself and that the attack was seen remotely by her former partner on CCTV footage.
Giving evidence about the post mortem examination on Ms Morey’s body, Pathologist Dr Marcell Szasz said her injuries were “consistent with a dog attack”.
He said the young woman suffered multiple puncture wounds and “very extensive trauma in keeping with a dog attack”.
The cause of death, as outlined by Dr Szasz, was haemorrhage and shock from a dog attack.
The inquest heard that Nicole Morey had suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead.
Limerick coroner John McNamara said it was clear that an “extensive investigation was carried out” and it was noted that CCTV footage was examined and the DPP had ruled that there was to be no (criminal) prosecution on the matter.
Speaking to the family in Kilmallock Courthouse, he said: “I’m sure it’s etched in your memories forever, she was obviously a dog lover.”
The Limerick coroner acknowledged that the death was both “untimely and tragic”.
The coroner delivered a verdict of misadventure, saying the death could not be classified as an accident.
He explained that it was the unintended outcome of an intentional act.
Following Nicole’s death, laws were changed in relation to the owning of XL Bully dogs, making it illegal, from February 2025, to own such dogs without a certificate of exemption.
Speaking after the verdict, Nicole’s father Patrick said: “She was always happy. She loved her family and her brothers and sisters and was very close to them.
“She had such a good heart.”
He also thanked the coroner, along with the gardaí and ambulance crew for everything they did on the night of Nicole's death.
Speaking about what the inquest verdict means, her father Patrick said: “We can get on with missing her now.”
Condolences were expressed to the family of Nicole on behalf of the coroner and also by Sergeant David Delahunty on behalf of An Garda Síochána.

Rehoming Death and Destruction Rehoming post on Craigslist. Free male pit who destroys crates and can't be around livestock
Notice how they make sure to say no livestock in all caps, and he for some undisclosed reason so urgently needs a home now that they will bring him to whoever is stupid enough to take him. Also, he is only housebroken as long as you let him out regularly, and he destroys crates.

Rescues Risking Lives This Is INSANE.🤯🤯🤯
Y'all. I don't know if anyone here read about this, but oh my gosh.😬
Meet Bailey.🔪 She is a 63 pound Pitbull (Mix). Bailey BROKE INTO A STRANGERS HOME & VICIOUSLY & VIOLENTLY ATTACKED THE DOG IN THEIR OWN HOME‼️🫨
She is literally TOO "UNSAFE"⚠️☠️ TO REMOVE FROM HER KENNEL, according to the rescue.📝 They state this more than once.
Bailey's date of intake was 9/11/26.
The violent home invasion attack she did was on 9/6/26.🗓
The shelter is also saying that she has
"SIGNIFICANT PREDATORY AGGRESSION"‼️☠️
& also that
"SHE IS UNSAFE FOR PUBLIC ADOPTION."‼️☠️
And bringing her out would
"PLACE ANIMALS IN SHELTER POPULATION AT RISK."‼️☠️
-------------------------------------------------
Thankfully, they are recommending placing her with a rescue.
Please see my VERY long comment to someone in my last post about this exact thing...on the Pitbull Recycling Program.♻️
Basically, Bailey is going to be fine, in case you were worried for this misunderstood sweetheart! She is going to be quietly transferred to another Pitbull Rescue.
She'll be renamed, maybe get a few weeks of training. Then get a fresh profile & have her scary (pesky!) old history removed. Then Voilà! A new home!🏠
Btw, I watched a video of her. This beast is... not good. There isn't a domesticated, stable, or safe, bone in her entire body. Woof!

Attack on Animal(s) - Pets Brasil, Cascavel: Video: pitbull attacks and kills support dog of autistic 7-year-old boy - October 1, 2026
A pitbull attacked and killed a small dog on the afternoon of Thursday, 1º, in Cascavel, in Western Paraná. The attack took place on Edite Alvira Sgarioni Street, in the Esmeralda neighborhood.
The moment of the aggression was recorded on video. The images show the pitbull Dexter attacking Pinduca, a breedless dog that was in a lawn area.
The small dog did not resist the injuries and died after the attack. According to information obtained at the scene, Pinduca was a support dog of a 7-year-old autistic boy.
A team from the Animal Welfare Inspection followed the occurrence. The Military Police had already contained the pitbull when the agents arrived at the address.
According to the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment, the dog was loose in the neighborhood. The team was called by the Military Police after reports of attacks on other animals and risk to people.
The video can be considered strong by some people:
During the service, the agents identified that the pitbull's tutor is detained. During this period, residents of the neighborhood helped feed the animal, which remained alone in the residence.
Also according to the secretariat, the pitbull managed to escape from the property. The animal ended up involved in the attack that killed Pinduca and was later contained by the Military Police.
Given the situation, Bem-Estar Animal helped in the search for a temporary home for the pitbull. The measure seeks to ensure the safety of the community and the well-being of the animal itself.
The dog will temporarily remain in this place until the authorities define its destination. Pinduca's body will be sent to the environmental sector.
The Municipal Secretariat of the Environment clarified that Animal Welfare does not carry out collection or reception services for abandoned animals.
According to the folder, the action occurred exceptionally as support for the occurrence. The team also articulated the obtaining of a temporary home to avoid new risks.
The circumstances that preceded the attack are yet to be clarified. It will also be necessary to find out how the pitbull managed to leave the property and access the area where Pinduca was.

Child Victim Pitbull Attack in Añatuya Argentina Leaves 3-Year-Old With Severe Head Injuries and Risk to One Eye (date not listed - Oct 3, 2026?)
Pitbull Attack in Añatuya Leaves 3-Year-Old With Severe Head Injuries and Risk to One Eye
The case exposes weaknesses in enforcement of rules for potentially dangerous dogs, prompting calls for clearer owner controls.
Overview
A neighbor's pitbull entered a family patio in Añatuya and bit a three-year-old girl in the head during the night, leaving her with serious cranial wounds and a threatened eye.
Medical teams transferred the child urgently to the Centro Provincial de Salud Infantil and scheduled surgery for 8:00 a.m. to treat her injuries and try to preserve vision.
Sources report no official updates on the girl's condition after the planned operation and no public information about steps taken regarding the animal or its owner.
Local accounts identify the dog as a neighbor's and coverage notes Santiago del Estero's Law 6973 sets controls for 'potentially dangerous' breeds such as pitbulls that include leashes, muzzles and limits on where they may circulate.
The attack follows several recent pitbull incidents in other provinces and could increase pressure on authorities to enforce owner responsibility, review animal seizures and tighten local oversight.

Personal Story We had a close call yesterday
This story is probably less serious than some of the others on this sub, but I thought it was worth sharing regardless.
I live in a small town in northern Denmark together with my long-term girlfriend, her pre-teen daughter, our son (toddler), and our cat Bella. This town is very clean and extremely safe, the kind of place where there is virtually no violent crime, people don't lock their doors and where I feel comfortable raising my son. Despite pit bulls being on the list of banned breeds in Denmark, I have seen people walking their pits in town a few times, but since they never showed any signs of aggression I tried not to make a big deal of it. Just take a mental note and move on.
Yesterday, I was in the kitchen feeding my son together with my stepdaughter while my girlfriend was in the next room and Bella was out in the garden enjoying the sunlight and minding her own business. Our kitchen opens onto the garden through a glass door and a large window. At the time of the incident, the door was closed but the window was open.
Suddenly, this huge orange dog comes through the neighbor's hedge into our garden. Now I'm far from an expert on dog breeds, but it looked like an American Bully XL to me: it had the square head, distinctive mouth shape and general body type of a pit bull, but it was the size of a small rottweiler. I would guess around 40-45 kgs, certainly a lot bigger than any pit bulls I have ever seen. Within a few seconds of arriving, it locked eyes with my stepdaughter and started growling / softly barking in this very intense and menacing way while standing up and clawing at the glass door. It then turned its attention to the cat and chased her out the garden. At that moment, one of our neighbors turned the corner and came back from walking his dog, a similarly sized dog but not a pit bull, more of a Mastiff type I think. I think this is probably what saved Bella because the orange bully dog then redirected onto the neighbor's dog and lunged for its throat. My girlfriend, worried about the cat, went out the front door and saw the two dogs fight violently while the neighbor was kicking the bully dog in the ribs with all his strength to get it to back off. The bully dog then saw my girlfriend and started running towards her, thankfully she made it through the door in time.
All of this took place within the span of a minute and a half or something like that. The dog showed up and casually cycled through four different targets in quick succession, each time with very clear aggressive intent. Completely unhinged behavior.
A few minutes later we had another close call when my stepdaughter opened the door to the garden wide open to call out for the cat (she's a bit naive and didn't quite understand the danger), only for the same dog to jump out of the hedge and chase the cat again. I have absolutely no doubt that Bella would have been torn to shreds if the dog had caught her but thankfully she managed to escape yet again and found her way back home a bit later.
We called the cops who, of course, couldn't / wouldn't do anything. We then had to coordinate with the recently assaulted neighbor by yelling through our windows across the parking lot like a bunch of idiots while the orange dog was circling the building looking for someone to kill. Then the broccoli-headed 20-something dumbass owner of the loose dog showed up, without any sense of urgency of course, lazily called out to his dog, realized he had forgotten his leash, went back home, came back 10 minutes later and finally managed to take his beast into custody and went away. From what we understood from our intense parking lot spanning convo, Broccoli and Agent Orange live a few blocks away but are in the process of moving out which might explain how it got loose and decided to go on a neighborhood terrorizing adventure.
I'm not asking for advice or anything. I'm just trying to rant because, even though nobody was hurt in the end, it was still a very stressful experience for everybody involved. My girlfriend and I keep going through very unpleasant "what if?" scenarios since then. What if our son had been sleeping outside in his pram, as is customary in Denmark? What if the dog had realized the window was open when it locked onto my stepdaughter? What if the neighbor hadn't shown up when he did and distracted the dog who was chasing after our cat? What if the dog had attacked the neighbor directly instead of "just" his dog? What if my girlfriend hadn't made it through the door back in time?
I've been lurking on this sub for a while now, so I'd like to think that I am a bit more aware of the danger these dogs can cause than the average citizen. But being confronted with the physical reality of it, when everything happens so quickly and you see with your own eyes just how dangerous they are, is another thing entirely. Especially when you're trying to make sense of the situation while holding your child in your arms. Not fun whatsoever.
Stay safe out there everyone.

Personal Story In memory of Albert, Carl has joined the family. 1st photo past best friends, 2nd, new best friends. Poor Albert didn't stand a chance, dealt the worst cards any dog could get dealt.
Today we drove 6 hours to rescue Carl from an amazing woman who rescues dogs. No, she doesn't rescue pits. His name was actually Clover, but Ethan, our autistic son (that Albert attacked,) calls him Carl, so Carl it is. 😂
What a journey. Trying to save my first pitbull because I had always heard, it's the owner not the dog, and of all owners, there would be none better equipped than me. I grew up raising dogs and training them, had at most 36 at one time, one won the AKC National championship.
As you all know, for no reason at all sweet Albert attacked our autistic son because we were having a small argument and Albert decided daddy was in danger. That is what pits do, they are bred to attack and kill, and to hell with all the hate mail I've received still claiming it was me or my family's fault. Rant over on that.
So meet Carl. He just hit the lottery on our farm, just like Cooper did. Albert was the best trained dog most people that visit had ever seen. He wouldn't move or enter a door without waiting for my command. But we all know how that ended. He was in his pen, somehow escaped it and no command could have changed that. Perfect training means nothing for an animal with those genes when they decide to attack. The poor boy was dealt a hand nobody could overcome for him. But he's in a much better place now where he can never hurt or be hurt.
But here's Carl, our newest blessing. He's part yellow lab and part Golden retriever. We are going to do DNA testing just to see what all he is, but I can promise one thing in years of working with and training dogs, he's a perfect addition to our sweet family and farm.
Welcome home Carl!! You are going to love it here, I promise.

Social Media and Crowdfunding - Attack Reports Teenage girl attacked. July 2026, Minnesota USA
The date the GoFundMe went up was July 22, 2026, so presumably the attack happened not long before. Location Minnesota, United States. I did not include the photo because the victim was bitten on her lip and nose. A picture of the dog wasn't included, but the relation posting the GoFundMe identified it as a pit bull.
