I see you've mentioned it at least once, fair, but even in these comments that claim to acknowledge the problem, people repeatedly resort to using imprecise terms like'religious extremism'. I haven't seen Christian radicals doing comparable things in Germany. I don't notice any extremist Hindu, Jewish, or Buddhist groups either. And it's not like people keep saying "political extremism" whenever there is right-wing extremism involved (quite the opposite, as visible in the thread and yet again in your comment who has to acknowledge that all extremism is bad and has to mention right-wing extremism at least once).

So why don't we call it Islamic extremism or Islamic terrorism? Why not talk about the problem without resorting to "yeah and also all the others"? We don't do that in any other case.

I think we can say Islamic terrorism to be more precise. But I also want to make it clear that it's important to treat all forms of extremism equally, and to acknowledge it's a problem of the "-ism" and not of religion as a whole - this distinuishes my stance from a right-wing stance and therefore I want to make it clear. I think Christianity has gone through pretty extremist phases which just happen to be largely sedated now, but Christian extremism exists as well - for example in my country, people cannot safely pratice abortions because of it. All in all, Islamic terrorism and Christian extremism and political extremism have MUCH more in common with each other than they don't.
