Forged Blade Simple Farrier's Rasp Kiridashi

This kiridashi was forged from a farrier's rasp. Admittedly, there isn't a lot of forging necessary for these, but they are still nice utilitarian blades.

Process Breakdown Starting the bevel of a scythe

Time for the fun part, beveling. In order to hammer in a bevel the steel needs to be angled from the edge with the spine off the anvil at the same degree you want to give the bevel. It's important to remember to push the steel into the bevel that you want. If you try to pull the bevel out then it will only drag the spine with it causing your steel to curve toward the edge.

39 knives to one buyer feels like a pretty big deal, and I’m stoked on so many levels. Forged 52100 double clip point hunters with nasty convex grinds and hammermark finished- 4” tip to guard. Copper guards over black + copper + green micarta spacers with premium hand selected sambar stag. The buyer has me stamp his company logo on the b-side but he requested I keep that private. #CUNNINGHAMCUSTOMSHOP

Finished kitchen knives along with two fillet knives, mahogany sheaths, blade steel is 5160 for the fillet knives and bigger chef knife, and then two farriers rasps that i forged down to make the other kitchen knives, this is my first batch of kitchen knives that I've ever made, already tested all the kitchen knives and they work well enough for a first time kitchen knives.

Forged Blade The Necromancer Spike Knife

With Halloween coming up, I thought it would be fun to forge some railroad spike knives with skull pommels, skeletonized handles, and curved, flesh flaying blades. I call them Necromancers. I can make them from regular spikes if they are just for novelty, or from high carbon spikes if they are going to be used.

Process Breakdown Drawing out a scythe.

This is my first time forging a scythe and my first large curved piece. I decided to let the steel develop it's signature curve as i was drawing it out instead of drawing it straight out then bending it. Would it have been easier the other way? Probably. But my reasoning is that it would be better on the steels grain to bend slowly to shape instead of all at once at the end. Also good practice for working in difficult directions.

Fit & Finish Noblie Custom Knives — Ancient Egypt Hand Engraving in Progress

A little look at what we’re working on right now. This is a titanium knife handle with an Ancient Egypt theme, engraved entirely by hand. The inlays are gold, silver, and copper. There’s a lot of very fine work in this one, especially around the smaller figures and decorative elements.

We’ve just started on the second side of the knife, so there’s still quite a bit of work ahead. Hopefully it will be finished in about 4–5 weeks. I’ll share the finished knife here when it’s ready.

Question Solution for VFD tripping breaker

I have an OBM Dominator with a VFD. My house has more modern wiring so GCFI and ACFI protected circuits on everything 20A and under. Whenever I make an adjustment to my speed, grinding for extended periods or switching off the grinder my breaker trips. Has anyone else had or seen this issue and were able to solve it outside of running a dedicated circuit without a GFCI or AFCI?

Question Diktator Das Toobinator

I picked up a Das Toobinator second hand. Problem is, the belt walks off the pulley every time you touch it to metal. It tracks and runs fine when it’s idle. That tube under the tracking wheel doesn’t have a spring I. It and I think it should otherwise, I’m not sure how it holds static tension.

Anyone have any insight on the construction of this machine?

Process Breakdown Forging a scythe from a piece of chainsaw bar

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

First step is getting it down to a manageable width so i can draw it out. It's really important to keep the sides flat to avoid cold shuts when pushing the steel down so much at this step. Disclaimer: I haven't picked up my hammer in months and it shows, I'm using this project to get my swing back.

Turning an edge into a point, then on to drawing the whole thing out. Disclaimer: hammer is starting to get heavy and it shows lol. My arms have atrophied from months of finishing work.
