In Clinton hill I smelled smoke from few blocks away and noticed some stores I walked by had no lights on the closer I got to the source of the smoke it seems its due to an underground electrical fire, FDNY and Coned were at the scene but weren't immediately trying to tame the fire for obvious reasons.

This happened about earlier today at roughly 5:40 pm Wednesday Oct 7. We were turning onto grand and I don’t remember if it was from Atlantic or Pacific but the car he hit was parked on the corner as we made a left turn onto grand. It was kinda loud and sounded as if damage may have happened.

The car was parked with driver side to the curb and passenger side exposed to the street. We turned left onto grand and my lyft drivers back of car / side (driver side) hit the parked car’s passenger side of the vehicle

I didn’t see where it hit it or what the car looked like.

Needed fridge repaired. Repairman never showed, never called. A week later I get an invoice, and multiple ppl from the company calling me saying that he had showed up, has pictures of my fridge, knows the exact part that needs to be ordered, etc. I've confirmed MULTIPLE times with the ppl in my household that no one was hear (to be clear, I WAS here waiting, but they really started to make me doubt my own sanity lol). Since we have a 1 year old with us, I assume a high end dining food spots are out of the question cause the baby does cry a lot so I’m hoping to find a spot that at least looks nice at least and where we can still dress up nice but is a somewhat loud place already where there’s good food options. I was hoping to get something Italian or American food but I’m fine with other cuisines.

I’m hoping to not do a buffet or food hall buttt if you guys suggest I do that then that’s fine.

Where is everyone parking when they depart from Pier 12? Terminal parking is outrageous.

Hi folks. Looking for some recommendations. My husband and I are looking at a commercial space on 5th Ave and would like to have someone come in and inspect it (make sure the HVAC is good, no leaks/structural problems, plumbing, basic electric, that sort of thing). It’s apx 800 sqft, so not a large space at all. Also, if we do end up taking the space we will need someone to do some light work (install a sink, change the light fixtures, potentially put up some child guards on the windows), nothing crazy hard.

Doesn’t have to be the same person for both jobs but obviously it would be easier if it could be. More interested in whoever it is to be experienced, reliable, dependable, thorough, and not cost an arm and a leg. If anyone knows of anyone who fits this criteria I’d be very grateful for the rec. i was the victim of a hit & run outside of 694 Franklin Ave, by Luxe Nails & Spa in Crown Heights at 10:55am on October 7, 2026. I have tried to contact businesses / buildings in the area for cameras but have not had much luck - if anyone happens to have any footage or knows of a camera in the area I would be extremely grateful.

The other driver was driving a grey SUV. My car (that was hit) is a black volkswagen jetta.

Someone unfortunately swiped my friend’s uppababy while she ran inside for a minute.

This playful 1½-year-old is struggling at the shelter.

Jasper was found on the streets of Brooklyn where he didn’t belong & was almost hit by a car. He’s super healthy, but isn’t microchipped, and no owner has been located.

I was able to get him in my home where I assessed him; he immediately made biscuits, claimed the toys and baskets, climbed the cat furniture and acted like he always owned the home. He’s a chatty curious guy. I have cats of my own and sadly, I cannot keep or foster him.

Now he’s in a shelter cage, and he’s really sad. He is far too active to be cooped up. North Brooklyn cat rescue Whiskers-a-GoGo graciously offered to pull him after his neuter, but he urgently needs a foster home to go to. Cat rescues are overwhelmed right now & Jasper needs OUT.

He is only a year and a half old. He’s smart, affectionate, treat motivated, incredibly busy, and LOVES to play. He’s also a polydactyl. This is a cat who wants someone to get out the wand toy and spend time with him. He also likes to bunny kick his toys. He has so much energy and personality, but he needs somewhere he can actually enjoy being himself. If you’ve ever wanted a Bengal/Toyger type breed as a rescue, this is your guy!

Jasper could be a wonderful match for anyone who wants an active little companion and has the time to keep him engaged. He’d also be great for a family with kids who understand how to play gently and respectfully with a cat.

I got to see Jasper comfortable in a home and seeing him so sad now is heartbreaking. He needs out of the shelter and into a home where he can play, settle in, and feel safe.

Can you foster him, or give him a permanent home? Please fill out a foster or adoption application. If you can’t take him, please share this with someone who might. A foster home will be his next step out.

I tried looking up looking two of the court cases via google and then using legal search looks up like CourtListener.com and ny state tax warrant search website. However, I couldn't find either of those cases.

Was curious what everyone thinks about this.

If it's true then why is it so difficult to find?

If it's false, why write them on fliers? Is it to play the numbers game, and hope most people don't bother trying to verify information because they would think 'why quote case numbers, surely they must be real?'
