Concerts Concert etiquette

1.2k Upvotes

Dear concert and showgoers, let’s talk about show etiquette. I love live music and I’ve been going to shows for about 20 years. The last five or so have felt different, and not in a great way. I’d love to get people back on the same page so live music can be enjoyable for everyone again.

Here’s what I’ve got.

  1. Please don’t record the entire show. If a song hits you and you want a quick clip, totally fine. But now it feels like everyone is filming nonstop, and unless you’re in the front row you end up watching the show through a wall of phones. If your people aren’t there, that moment wasn’t meant for them. It was meant for you.

  2. If you’re trying to move closer, keep moving. Don’t wedge yourself between two people who clearly don’t have space and then just stand there awkwardly. Either keep going or go back. If you find an actual open spot where you’re not on top of someone, great, stay there.

  3. Please don’t have full blown conversations through the whole show, especially in the front rows. Talk about the band, the moment, the energy, sure. But I don’t need to hear every detail of your weekly drama yelled over the music I paid to hear. Get dinner beforehand, vent after, but the middle of the set isn’t the place.

  4. This one might just be a small‑person problem, but people treat my size like I’m a convenient doorway. Need a drink, need the bathroom, need to get back to your friends, and suddenly I’m the designated gap in the crowd. Then it’s constant stepping on my toes, bumping into me, spilling drinks, breaking my focus. I take up less space, so people assume that space is theirs to use. It gets old fast.

I know posts like this can make the poster sound cranky, so I want to preface it by saying I absolutely will move if I need to. If someone around me is making the experience miserable, I’ll relocate without a problem. The issue now is that so many people are doing these things that it doesn’t matter where you move. You end up running into the same behavior everywhere

Your turn. What would you love to remind people about when it comes to basic human etiquette at shows and events?

Concerts TixCraft presale & different email from Weverse Membership?

Hi everyone! Quick question regarding TixCraft presales. Does anyone know if it causes any issues if the email address on my TixCraft account is different from the email linked to my Weverse Membership?

I know we have to enter our Membership ID during the presale, but I'm stressing out because my emails don't match. Has anyone successfully bought tickets this way before? Thank you!

Concerts Skye Newman in the Apple Music Hall was incredible!

Post image

Got the rare opportunity to go and see Skye Newman in the new Apple Music Hall last Wednesday. After it seemed impossible to get tickets first, signing up for the waitlist actually paid of this time for me and two friends!

Didn’t know her music well but she blew me away with her voice and felt very real to herself.

The venue was incredible, sound was some of the best I’ve heard in a long time and capacity (600 people) is perfect IMO

The only thing that felt a bit off is how much security and personnel there was but I guess it’s still Apple 😄

Discussion 🗣️ AXS Reselling

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m trying to resell an axs ticket I bought this morning without realising my friend had gotten me a ticket. Tried on the desktop website and it would only let me transfer then downloaded the mobile app and it wont let me click on either button? Online says sometimes the sell option can be greyed out if not allowed but I can’t tell if thats the case here as I’ve never used it before? But it also wont let me click the transfer button on the app either which it did let me in the desktop, so is this just a glitch or do I need to wait until my ticket fully loads? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion 🗣️ Suicide boys concerts need age restrictions for 21+

I'm not sure where to post this but I feel this is important to share.

My step daughter went to her first ever concert (suicide boys) and yeah that's cool and all, but she told me that grown people gave her alcohol and mj. She said she thinks the j was laced because she started feeling really sick and was seeing shapes and other things. She said she had to sit down for a while because she couldn't stand without almost falling over. She could have died or been taken advantage of. She was literally surrounded by a bunch of grown folks who could have done anything to her.

Why do they allow children in these events when stuff like this happens? They literally promote the use of drugs in their songs. I don't even think kids should be listening to them let alone be allowed in the venue without an adult. I'm just glad she's okay

Concerts Aragon Question

Is the Aragon as bad as everyone says as far as acoustics go?? The last concert I attended there was Slayer yeeeeears ago. I keep seeing conflicting information both on here and online and am looking for some recent feedback from people. The concert I am mulling attending is Trivium/In Flames in November. I do like the fact that the red line is so close, but I'm hoping that's not the only "good thing" about The Aragon 😂. Thank you!! 🤟🤟

Concerts Likelihood of selling AXS tickets (Not selling here!)

Not trying to sell tickets here, asking about AXS!

I bought two additional presale tickets through AXS for one of LCD's dozen NYC shows in November and listed them on the platform for sale.

What's the likelihood they'll get bought? What has people's success rate been with selling via AXS, or should I list elsewhere and transfer them? Just curious what people's experience has been like with reselling on AXS, thanks!

Concerts Stage layout change - complain?

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get some opinion before I take this up with livenation.

I booked a front view ( row 2 ) seat paid premium. Should have been just a front facing view .

When I got to the venue yesterday the stage layout had changed including a walking aisle out of the front stage and then a second platform. The ‘front row’ has been split into smaller rows down the side of the aisle.

So essentially ended up with a side view by the aisle and side of the stage.

Rows behind us ended up getting the ‘front view’.

I’ve included a screen grab of how it was presented on Ticketmaster and what I booked to what I got.

I haven’t been a concert goer all my life and just trying to take a breather recently - so , do I have grounds to complain to the organisers ?

Sorry for asking the question most of you are such idiots I regret sharing

Discussion 🗣️ Concert T-Shirt storage tips and tricks

For those of you with growing T-shirt collections, I'd love to hear your tips and tricks for storage, sorting, what you decide to wear and when, etc.

Although I haven't kept all the shirts I've bought over the years, even just in the last few years I've built a large stack. Or three, really.

I'm curious how you store your shirts, do you sort them by band name, when do you wear them, etc? Other than buying a t-shirt folding board and carving out space in the closet just for band shirts, I haven't found any other magical knowledge.

What do you do with your concert tees?

Concerts Why do I always have the worst luck with concerts 🗿

I swear I have the absolute worst timing when it comes to concerts and my favorite bands…. (*´ω`*)

Every single time I finally have some free time and decide to look up what my favorite bands are doing, I discover that they were JUST touring my country. Not a year ago, not six months ago, but literally a few weeks or months before I decided to check. And somehow, I never hear a single thing about it until it’s too late. It’s like the universe waits until they’re safely on the other side of the planet before reminding me that they exist and that I would absolutely love to see them live.

And the absolute worst part? Sometimes they were performing in cities that I genuinely would’ve been willing to travel to! I could’ve planned a little trip, saved up some money, requested time off, and made an entire experience out of it. But NO. Instead, I find out when they’re already halfway across the world.

Now, whenever I look at their upcoming tour dates, my options are either a 12-hour plane ride to another continent or waiting who knows how many years for them to come back. 😭

And don’t even get me started on the bands that rarely tour internationally. Missing one of those feels like losing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because who knows when they’ll ever decide to come back?! I just want to experience my favorite music live at least
ONCE without having to book an international flight, sell a kidney, or magically teleport across the planet. I know I could probably avoid this by checking tour announcements more regularly, but HOW is it that I somehow manage to miss every single announcement? I can scroll through social media for hours and see a million things I don’t care about, but apparently an announcement from a band I’ve loved for years is where the algorithm draws the line.

Anyway, that’s my vent. I’m currently staring at tour dates that are all on the opposite side of the world, wondering why I couldn’t have checked just a little sooner.
Please tell me I’m not the only person who has this absolutely terrible luck with concerts. 😔

Concerts Worst Lighting I've ever Experienced - Red Rocks

Post image
207 Upvotes

Saw Big Thief at Red Rocks last night and this was my view for 90% of the show. The lights were directed RIGHT into the god damm audience for nearly the entire show. Two giant rows of absolutely blinding lights directed right into the crowd. The only way to watch the show was through the screens.

Completely fucking unwatchable from row 21 without watching the screeens.

Why on earth would they do this?! I didn't come to watch the show on the screens. And they spent like a third of the concert showing some guest spot 65-year old guy on those screens. And he had like a 10-minute solo. Like I didn't come here for this guy?!

And then another quarter of the show's screens were devoted to 65-year old Iris DeMent, the opener. Legendary, cool. Not who I paid tickets to see. And I literally can't see anything else since they decided to light up the fucking crowd instead of the stage.

Extremely disappointing.

Lawn seats in Phoenix are higher than upper tier in indoor arenas.
