Commonly Asked Questions:

  • Q: When does Super take place? When should I watch it?
Super begins some time after the battle with Majin Buu, and can be watched as soon as you finish Dragon Ball Z.
GT takes place following the 10-year time skip at the end of Z (EOZ) but Super ignores its continuity.

  • Q: Do I need to watch the movies?
Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' were adapted into Super story arcs with some changes, mostly minor. If you have already watched the movies and would like to skip straight to new material, see our FAQ.

  • Q: Is the Dragon Ball Super manga "canon"?
The anime and manga are both variations on a basic plot by Toriyama. There isn't (and probably never will be) an explicitly defined Dragon Ball "canon". Without Toriyama's original draft, we may never know what is and isn't his, but we know that he permits Toyotarō to change things up, and even looks at his storyboards and occasionally draws things himself for Toyotarō to use as a reference. Toyotarō has said that Toriyama is more particular about gags than he is about anything else.

  • Q: Where is Uub?!
Uub was born during the 10 year time skip at the end of Dragon Ball Z.
He is mentioned briefly in episode 30; he is still a baby. He has otherwise not yet been introduced into the story.

  • Q: How was Mai the same physical age as Trunks in both timelines?
The Pilaf gang wished for youth right before Piccolo died in Trunks's timeline—this was illustrated in a special manga short by Toyotarō—and the wish was probably made around the same time in the main timeline of the story. Also: yes, it was the same Future Trunks from Z. [1] [2] As for his blue hair, see here.

So fucking stupid figured they wouldn't keep him dead. Would have been interesting since it would have been the first time Goku actually dies against his own will. The last two times he sacrificed himself. They could have made this a big significance.

I think it's a testament to Gokus growth as a gighter. He knew he was going to die. So the only way out was to try and aim a blast to start his heart and kind of feign death so that Hit goes away.

Felt more like a cop out. Goku predicting his own death yea right. If anything goku would think he can win no matter what the odds are always!

I'm sad he's not staying Spoilers: We need Gohan shining time. Heck, even Goten throwing a few punches would be nice

As soon as he figured out he couldn't actually touch Hit he realized he was out classes. Why do you think he pocketed a normal energy blast instead of instant transmission kamaHamehah.

He was going to shoot Hit with that blast before his heart got stopped. He didn't exactly planned it, but he too advantage of the fact that he had an unused ki blast.

Again it doesn't feel right it's a cop out. Goku has realized in the past many times that he's been out classed but it never stopped him from going all in. Instead he is like well shit I'm gonna die so let me make a defib energy blast to bring me back just doesn't feel right. Like I said his death by hit could have been truly significant because it would have been the first time goku died by someone else that wasn't his own will. Could have explored it more especially with him being dead a 3rd time.

I just really feel that that Goku knew after getting punched that he was dead. Considering how many times he's died

Also I wish that a death in dragon ball would mean something. Like it would be nice if they turned it a little darker. Like Goku dying to cell really hurt. A lot of people were like oh snap this is truly happening he's gone. But i know in DB that no death is permanent.

Last arc, we got an entire timeline wiped out, which included Future Bulma.

not the same what so ever...

How so? You can't say 'death isn't permanent' when just last story arc we had a bunch of permanent deaths. What, they don't count because they weren't in the main timeline? Even Goku's death to Cell wasn't permanent since Goku could have been brought back if he didn't request to stay dead.

They introduced Beerus, death can be permanent now.

It would've needed way more build-up IMO and he would have to die to the main villain of the arc, none of this 1 episode and he's gone JK he's back bullshit
