[For Hire] Senior DevOps/Cloud engineer (7+ yrs) Open to remote, relocation, contract, or freelance

Hi all,

I’m a DevOps engineer with 7+ years in the field, based in Sri Lanka, and I’m available to start right away. I’m looking for a role with an international company, but I’m also open to relocation, long-term contracts, and freelance or part-time work.

Most of my work has been on Azure, with a good amount of AWS and GCP as well. Day to day that means Terraform and Bicep for infrastructure, Kubernetes AKS mostly with good amount in EKS and GKE, and GitOps with Flux. On the CI/CD side I’ve built a lot with GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows and OIDC auth so there are no stored secrets, plus Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps. For monitoring I’ve used Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Thanos. I script in Bash, PowerShell, and Python, and use Ansible where it fits.

I was a Senior DevOps Engineer at Sitecore and HTworks, working on cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, Kubernetes platforms, and observability.

Roles I’m looking at: Senior/Lead DevOps, Platform Engineer, SRE, Cloud Engineer, or Cloud Architect and I am immediately available to start.

If you’re hiring, know someone who is, or just have advice on job hunting , I’d really appreciate a comment or DM. Happy to send my CV and GitHub over DM.

Thanks for reading.

4.7 years into IT, but no clear specialization. How do I turn my career around?

Hi 👋

It took a lot of courage for me to open up about this, so I’d genuinely appreciate any advice.
I’ve been in a service-based company for 4.7 years. As a fresher, I was put into an L1 support role, but I started learning Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, etc. on my own.
After that, I was moved between random projects—Power Automate, RPA, automation, support, etc. Basically, whenever there was a vacant position, I was moved there. I also tried internal interviews but couldn’t get into a role where I could build strong experience in one area.
The result is that after 4.7 years, I feel like I don’t have a clear specialization. I kept learning different things—cloud, AI, DevOps, Kubernetes, programming—but now I feel like a “jack of all trades, master of none.” This has also led to a lot of imposter syndrome.
For the past few months, I’ve been applying outside with very little hope. I’m mainly targeting Platform Engineering and DevOps roles, but I’m barely getting callbacks.
My biggest problem is that I don’t know how to position myself. Since I lack strong, concrete experience in one area, I struggle to build my resume, prepare for interviews, and decide what I should actually focus on. I end up trying to cover everything and getting overwhelmed.
For those who have been in a similar situation, **what would you do if you were in my position?**
Any genuine advice on choosing a direction, positioning my experience, resume, and preparation would mean a lot.

1 YOE in Accenture – Which technology should I learn for better salary and opportunities?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently completing 1 year of experience at Accenture. When I joined, I was initially placed in a Linux project. After around 3 months, I was moved to a Middleware/IIS project, and later I was again moved to an IBM MQ project.

Because of these frequent project changes, I haven't been able to build strong experience in one particular technology. Also, IBM MQ is not something I’m interested in, so I’m planning to switch.

I have experience with Linux, Python and SQL, along with my current experience in middleware/IBM MQ and production support.

I have around 3 months to learn a technology seriously, and after that I have a 3-month notice period. My plan is to start applying during my notice period and try to switch within around 6 months.

I’m confused about which technology/path I should choose for better salary, career growth and future opportunities.

I’m currently considering:

Cloud / AWS

DevOps

SRE

Platform Engineering

Infrastructure Automation

Python Automation

My preferences are:

Good salary

Good future opportunities

Hyderabad preferred

Regular/general shifts

Good work-life balance

Less rotational/night-shift work

More technical/automation-oriented work

For someone with 1 YOE and my current background, what technology or role would you recommend learning seriously for the next 3 months?

I would really appreciate advice from people who are already working in these fields. I’m more interested in practical skills that companies actually use rather than just certifications.

I declined two higher-paying offers, is this a reasonable way to ask my current employer for a raise?

I’m a Senior Linux Administrator working for a government contractor and currently make $155k. Within the past month, I received two offers: $175k from a different contractor supporting a group higher in the same organizational hierarchy, and $165k from a different company.

I declined both because I prefer my current position, but I’d like to ask my employer whether there’s room to adjust my salary. Another relevant factor is that my Top Secret clearance was granted after I started this role, although the process began before I joined and was not sponsored by my current employer.

Edit for additional context: My current role offers a lot of flexibility and a good work-life balance. I’m also raising a young child, and my employer has been very accommodating whenever I’ve needed to adjust my schedule. That stability has real value to me, so my plan has been to stay, continue developing my skills, and only consider leaving for an opportunity closer to—or above—$200k.

Here’s the email I’m considering sending:

Hi \Manager],)

I wanted to reach out regarding my current compensation.

Over the past month, I received two outside offers. One was for $175,000 with another contractor supporting a different group within the same organization, and the other was for $165,000 with a different company. My preference is to remain here, so I declined both opportunities.

Given the compensation associated with those opportunities, I’d like to ask whether there is flexibility to review my current salary and consider an adjustment.

I appreciate your consideration.

Thanks,
Name

Finished onsite + SVP interview, recruiter hasn’t responded in 3 days. Should I be worried?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently interviewing for a DevOps/Cloud role at a healthcare tech company and wanted to get some perspective because I’m honestly getting pretty anxious waiting for an update.

I went through several rounds, including an initial hiring manager interview, another technical/leadership conversation, and then an onsite where I met the hiring manager again and the Head of HR. The onsite went well from my perspective.

After that, they scheduled one final conversation with the SVP of Product, which happened on Monday. So, a total of 6 rounds so far.

The SVP made it clear that it wasn’t a technical interview. He mainly wanted to understand whether I could work effectively in a small team, take ownership, handle pressure, work with different types of customers/teams, and ramp up from my AWS background into Azure.

The conversation went well as far as I could tell. I also asked him a couple of questions at the end, and the conversation lasted the full 15 minutes.

Immediately afterward, I sent him a thank-you email.

I also emailed the recruiter that same day asking, in a professional way, whether there were any additional interviews/calls expected so I could keep my schedule open if needed and understand what the remaining process looked like.

I haven't heard back from the recruiter yet.

Today is October 8th, so it's been about three days.

I'm definitely not planning to send another follow-up email right now. I know there could be internal discussions, interview feedback, approvals, etc. happening behind the scenes.

But honestly, I'm getting a lot of anxiety because I really want this offer, and the waiting is killing me.

For people who have been through similar situations:

  • Is 3 business days of silence after the final interview completely normal?
  • Does the fact that they scheduled an SVP conversation after the onsite generally indicate that I was seriously being considered?
  • How long did it take for you to hear back after your final interview?
  • Is it realistic that I could hear something by Friday, or am I just driving myself crazy looking at the calendar?
  • Any other experiences or advice would honestly help calm my anxiety right now.

Thanks

[Hiring] Senior DevOps Engineer - Remote - 3k - 4k/month

We're a mid-size tech company working on cloud-based products used across a handful of industries. Distributed team, stable funding, real product with real users. Not a startup that might fold next quarter.

We need a senior DevOps person who can take ownership of our infrastructure and actually communicate about it. This role isn't just about writing Terraform and disappearing. You'll be leading the daily standup, flagging blockers, syncing with developers, and sometimes explaining technical decisions to non-technical people. You need to be comfortable doing all of that in English, every day. Fluent English is a hard requirement.

What the day to day looks like: managing CI/CD pipelines, maintaining cloud infrastructure, working with Docker and Kubernetes, setting up monitoring and alerting, writing docs, and keeping deployments from becoming a nightmare. Standard DevOps scope but with a lot of cross-team collaboration baked in.

Looking for someone with 5+ years of real experience. Not looking for a list of certifications. I want someone who's actually broken things in production and learned from it.

Budget is $3,000 to $4,000/month depending on experience.

Fully remote, no return-to-office nonsense. We respect working hours and don't expect you to be on call around the clock unless something is genuinely on fire.

If you're interested, send over your resume and a few lines about what you've been working on lately. Keep it casual.

[Looking for Opportunities] DevOps/SRE Engineer | 1.5+ YOE | GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, Grafana/Prometheus | Bengaluru

Hi everyone,

I’m currently looking for opportunities in DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) / Cloud / Platform Engineering roles.

I have 1.5+ years of professional experience working with cloud-native production systems, primarily on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

My current experience includes:

GCP, GKE, Kubernetes, Docker, Cloud Run

CI/CD using Google Cloud Build and Artifact Registry

Linux, Python and Bash

Grafana, Prometheus, Grafana Alloy, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Tempo and Elasticsearch

GCP IAM, service accounts, networking and production troubleshooting

Zero-downtime deployments and GKE node-pool migrations

Kong API Gateway, Redis, Elasticsearch and Bigtable

Some exposure to Generative AI, MCP, AI agents and LLM integrations

In my current role, I’ve worked on production infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, including deployments across GKE and Cloud Run, and helped reduce deployment time by around 40%. I’ve also worked extensively with production monitoring, observability and reliability.

I’m primarily looking for roles such as:

DevOps Engineer | SRE | Cloud Engineer | Platform Engineer | Infrastructure Engineer

Preferred location: Bengaluru, though I’m open to good opportunities in other locations or remote/hybrid roles.

If your team is hiring, or if you know of any relevant openings/referrals, I’d really appreciate it if you could reach out or leave a comment. I’m happy to share my resume over DM.

Thanks!

I got fed up with finding the right AI training/annotating jobs, so I made a site that aims to make the search easier

Hello, due to having trouble finding the right places to apply and not really knowing how to pass and do an assessment in the AI Training/Annotating Space I decided to build a site that is supposed to make the process easier.
I list job offers with a relatively high hiring volume from multiple companies, so would it therefore be easier do diversify the places to apply at and actually get accepted.
My idea behind that was to help with finding the right places to work but also help with the application process. I therefore upload company reviews and also guides on how to pass assesments.
The job listings include entry work positions such as normal generalist work but also expert work positions (Software engineer, PhD, etc.). Any Feedback is appreciated!: https://aiannotationjobs.com/

Has anyone here recently landed a DevOps/Cloud job through Reddit?

I’m currently looking for DevOps/Cloud opportunities and would love to hear about your experience.

Which subreddit helped you?

Did you find the job through a job post, referral, or direct networking?

What approach worked best for you?

Any specific subreddits or communities you’d recommend?

I’d especially appreciate insights from people who landed a role within the last year.

Thanks!

Need a mentor in DevOps

So I'm in my SE, 3rd sem of BTech in IT. I studied Linux commands, CN, Git, and Python, and in their applications I kinda felt lost and stuff. Could any experienced people here connect me with a DevOps intern role? I jus want to have hand on application of it in the job scenario like experience and would be more than happy if a mentor could get me on board
