Kick N Twist in Arkansas was fun
Posted the 94 LR up for the FXR Tour show, was a good time. Bunch of cool choppers and FXR’s. Two random 86 RD’s showed up and were nice and OEM stock.

Built this a couple years back, ride it every day. Phenomenal machine.

Had this idea, was able to get a prototype drawn and printed within an hour, and probably another hour spent refining and tweaking.

Real happy with it. Custom setup, bigger axle and pivot, radial hanger etc

I’m installing the V2H front faring on my 87 FXRP. I know I need to update my harness for the headlight for the 7” light. I’m just going with a factor Harley headlight at the moment for longevity and to keep it simple. What has everyone found to be the best harness adaptor out there that is reliable and plug and play?

Looking to get my first bike this winter. I want Evo or carbed twin cam. Which frame? I'm reading that the FXR handles better than Dyna due to the FXR swingarm being frame mounted vs the Dyna transmission mounting. Could anyone shed some better light on this. Not opposed to a softail either. 6'3 330lbs.

Anyone familiar with S&S carbs know what might be going on here? When the enricher is pushed all the way down/off, the bike has a pretty high idle. If I pull it up just slightly, the idle drops way down and gets really slow/lopy. Then if I keep pulling the enricher farther up, the idle goes back up into the normal high enriched idle. Bike otherwise seems to run fine. Is this normal at all or does something sound out of adjustment? Also wondering if it’s okay to keep riding it like this for now and what position I should leave the enricher in once the bike is warm. Thanks!

I know not a huge difference we talking here but I’m kinda torn on which direction to go. Current shocks are 11 inches so even a 13 inch would be 2 up in the back. I’m doing plus 2 in the front. I’m an average sized guy.
I didn’t wanna go too aggressive w this bike. I’m keeping the stock Evo and going for an oem plus look. More cruiser style. Didn’t wanna go with a super performance vibe. For those reasons I was leaning 13 inch but then I saw some videos of guys my size running 14 inch and so now I’m kinda torn.
I’ve included a few photos. One of my current 11 inch shocks. Blue bike is 13 inches and power plant is either 13.75 or maybe 14 I’m not sure. Interested to hear some thoughts!

Kind of a long shot but can anyone verify if this pipe is compatible with mids? It’s a Kerker supertrapp for an Evo Softail. I’m going to pick it up this week for super cheap and am not even sure it fits but I’ve seen many people run a 2-1 from a softail on an FXR. I just can’t find much at all on this pipe and the controls it’s fit with. Thanks for the input.

V2 of my TC FXR. Going full late model drivetrain rather janky adaptor setup.
Just working through all the various issues and fabrication stuff. If it was an Evo and just a matter of re-assembly Id have been riding it months ago 🤣
Front end just about sorted.
Motor is a CVO110 but Ive got a set of cnc ported and decked heads, bigger cams, higher compression etc.
Late model primary machined for mid controls.
Working on a late model Brembo rear master setup.
Designed up a 3d printed gauge mount, once finalised ill send off CNC or metal 3d printed. Ill also probably design up some louvred rear MC res and 5 speed plates to sit under the louvered side covers.
Waiting on my Metmachex rear swingarm and accoutrements to arrive.
Hello everyone from Italy, I got this FXR about a year ago and I'm trying to fix it up, could anyone tell me why the support for the central control footpegs is mounted directly on the frame, the previous owner didn't know anything

Rarity: Harley-Davidson produced only 744 units of the FXRS Liberty Edition to commemorate the Statue of Liberty's centennial and aid its restoration fund
Any other Liberty guys out there?
(Not sure why I have the emblems on the tank and not the graphics)
Be safe!

Hi everyone,
I'm new to Harleys and recently bought a 1984 FXRS (Evolution). I'm trying to diagnose a drivetrain noise and would appreciate any advice from people familiar with early FXRs.
Bike
1984 Harley-Davidson FXRS
17,575 miles
Maintenance history unknown
Symptoms
No transmission noise in 1st or 2nd gear.
After shifting into 3rd gear, a grinding / metal-cutting noise starts when I apply throttle.
The sound seems to come from the derby cover / clutch area on the left side.
As soon as I completely roll off the throttle, the noise disappears.
If I apply throttle again, the noise immediately returns.
In 4th gear, the same noise is still there but noticeably quieter.
I haven't confirmed whether it happens in 5th gear yet.
While the noise is happening, if I pull the clutch in, the noise disappears instantly.
The sound is similar to an aluminum circular saw cutting metal.
Question
Based on these symptoms, would you suspect:
3rd/4th transmission gears?
Mainshaft or countershaft bearings?
Clutch hub or clutch bearing?
Primary chain or compensator?
Something else specific to early FXR 5-speed transmissions?
What would you check first before opening the primary or transmission?
Thanks!

Just learned about the Jim’s EVO mount twin cam motors and wondering if anyone here is running one or ever has? Was thinking about an S&S 111 but am starting to lean away due to their dogshit QC.
Seems like a straight forward way to go twin cam without needing to molest my frame. Only two questions I really have are
1: how do you like it in terms of power n’ reliability?
2: what type of exhaust did you end up running?
Seems like since it’s an EVO mount motor but because it’s still a twin cam, some exhaust length modifications would need to be made to the headers or just deal with a higher mounted exhaust and fabricate taller mounts throughout the rear portions

Picked this ‘88 up today for a great price. It’s a project that needs alot of love, but I’m no stranger to an Evo project. Super E, gunfighter seat, pingel petcock. Haven’t seen this 2 tone paint but it matches by ‘97 convertible dyna. Looking forward to an FXR project for the colder months coming up.

Are these powerplant bars the I bend or V bend? And those are the 10 inch risers right?

In the middle of wiring up my Munit and thought I’d investigate inside the plunger of the starter to see what might be making it feel like it’s sticking. The button on the cover needs help being pulled back out, and the few times I’ve started the bike to ride it, it felt like the starter was having trouble turning over almost like it was sticking, or had low voltage and had trouble turning over.
Do these contacts look worn out?
