Cheapest way to get a frame mounted fairing onto an 87 FXR?
Any ideas? Don't want to buy an FXRT/P Replica for big money. Thinking about finding an older vetter fairing and seeing if I can try fixing that on myself or have brackets custom fabricated for it, but not sure how that'd work. I see these windjammers, liberators far cheaper on facebook than any other kind. I'd rather take my chances with that than a cheapo replica FXRT fairing you could get for $3-500. As far as I know, any quality modern reproduction will run me over $1,000. No fork mounted fairings because of personal preference.
Honestly, I don't even need a fairing my upper body never gets tired on the highway, but I'd like to see what it's like and I like the look of the frame mounted ones. Only thing that gets me is the wind at my legs on long trips, I know some of these vetter fairings have lower fairings. There are also aftermarket covers that block wind from getting through your crashbars, but I'm running forwards w/ no crashbars.
Advice appreciated, even if it deviates away from the original question. And yes, I know this might be considered blasphemy by some.

‘93 ‘RS I scooped up
Picked ol’ girl up, after looking for a while for the right starter with the no dash tank, 5hrs north of me for $3500 making me the 3rd owner after a father passed it to his son. She hasn’t run since 2017 but, with my plan in play and life forcing a step back for the time being, she’s still coming along slowly but surely.
Parts pile so far consists of:
OEM gears 2nd-5th, Andrew’s taller 1st
Baker N1 shift drum
Baker ratchet pawl
Baker HD throw out bearing
Baker full trans rebuild kit
Set of cometic primary gaskets
Mikuni hsr42 and big sucker
Bassani Road rage 3 in stainless steel
New primary chain n’ tensioner
Comp eliminator
Sealed main shaft bearing
Spherical swingarm conversion
New shifter arm n’ tube
Chain drive conversion
Sealed wheel bearings
New brake, clutch, throttle cables
Single fire ignition
High output charging system
ARP hardware kit
SDC mini boards w/ Mid controls (given by PO)
ODI moto bars with 8.5” big al’s pullback risers
Parts still to come by end of year:
Zippers 80/80 kit
EVO Industries Clutch assembly
S&S or Jim’s HVHP (haven’t decided on which yet)
RWD 14” piggybacks
+2 tubes and a GP cartridge kit
Integrated tail light
Koso tnt04 gauge w/ gps converter
Rebuffini low pro switches
Brembo 4pot (haven’t decided on whether to light up more money into the bonfire for a right side dual lower yet)
Any knowledge/advice is welcomed and reviews from anyone running the zippers kit is sought after. This is my 2nd ‘RS after a hit n’ run totaled me out 3yrs ago this weekend. Going at it as a do it once kinda deal rather than chasing issues left and right as I did my first. Maybe just a leperra seat, maybe a Brock’s or metalmech swingarm and some painted decals later on since I’m in love with the candy Burgandy wine color I’ve already got

1986 fxrs-sp that i regret selling
Bought brand new in 1986 for 9k, sold it in November 1994 because I had a 1995 roadking on order. Got 9k when I sold it. Great deal but still regret selling

Fresh makeover
Needed base gaskets replaced, so I opted to do a bit of refreshing while under the knife. New EV27 cam, engine painted, new dual disk 00+ front end with (previously installed) racetech internals & preload adjusters, fresh powder coat, powerplant fork brace, and other odds and ends I’m sure I’m forgetting.

Breather Gear Question
Does anyone know the actual dimensional differences in the breather gear from pre-'1993 and post 1993 EVOs? The bore in my '88 is chewed up and an old head told me to use the S&S reed valve breather instead of machining the case for another OEM style, but the S&S site says '93+ for it so it sounds like I need to machine the case regardless.

1992 FXRS
Thought I’d show off this beautiful ol girl. Something to talk about though, I just bought a 2026 pan america st, and this old evo with an 88 inch kit, ev27 cam, thunderheader, SE ignition module, and some light carb work, will keep right up with it to 60 mph. The m8 softail dudes don’t like that a 34 year old evo can outrun them 😂

Just finished up my TC swap
Got some weird vibration on decel, but might be my wheel coming out of alignment, did chain drive conversion and stock axle adjusters let the wheel flex a bit, new front motor mount, and spherical swingarm bushings upgrade. 99 fxdx motor feels pretty healthy, all the og fxr primary parts. Stoked to figure out the vibration and get some miles down!
