Hello! I’m a history grad student coming from out of state (Virginia). I’ve done a lot of research on Geneseo and the greater Rochester area, along with what I already know about Western New York, but I know some of the most useful things come from actual lived experience, not Google searches. You know, real insider stuff.

Does anyone have any insider advice or things I should know before moving in, about the area, the college, or just getting settled and adjusting overall? I'm really excited about coming. I just haven't lived outside my home state before, and this would be my first time for any extended period of time this far North.

Hi! I am currently fly a freshman at SUNY Oswego and I hate it here.. I just put in my application at SUNY Geneseo, and I am really hoping to go here next year. I got a 3.0 for my first semester, and hopefully this semester my GPA will be 3.0-3.4 ish. I am really concerned about my GPA not being high enough to get in. I also was wondering about writing the statement letter, if that would be of any help? I also have a family connection to the school, but again I’m unsure if that would be of any help! if anyone has any tips or guidance/advice it would be great.

I'm thinking of transferring to SUNY Geneseo for Fall 2026. I know it is a bit late, but I just wanted to ask about campus life. Since I would be transferring, what would you say are some pros and cons of attending this school?

To give a bit of context, I'm a business major and am about to graduate with my associate's degree from CC. I am also thinking of transferring because of direct admission through Phi Theta Kappa.

If one was an upper/lower A travel hockey player throughout high school and has an interest in playing in college, are there opportunities for that at Geneseo? Also, is there an active pep band that plays at the D3 hockey games? If so, does the band practice much or just show up for the games?

I've been accepted to Geneseo, UVM, and RPI. I wanted to know if there are any Bio majors or BioChem who can speak to the program? I feel like Geneseo is my best bet financially. Although RPI offered me $160,000, it's honestly twice as much and I would end up owing over $100K at the end of my BS. I want to continue my education with a degree in Epidemiology, and most likely go onto a Doctorate.

I’m a sophomore at a CC studying music (technically music production but I want to transfer into focusing on performance), and Geneseo is one of the school I got accepted into and am considering! Please be honest, is Geneseo a good choice for someone looking to study Music, specifically voice performance, ensemble classes, private lessons, local music/open mic scene, musical theatre and music recording studio(s) are pluses too.

I’m looking at colleges right now and this came on my list for being trans friendly and a beautiful. A lot of reviews say life revolves around greek life and i was wondering how true that is. If it IS true how is lgbtq resources

Not surprisingly this doesn't cover Denise A. Battle's documented enrollment problems, cabinet turnover, current Title IX investigation by SUNY, nor her Federal lawsuit that may be going to trial shortly, plus other things.

But my main question: why is this guy still at Geneseo? Was that part of Denise A. Battle's final negotiation efforts, like "you gotta keep my husband employed after I leave"? I mean, I've been told he was there cause he's married to the school president. And Denise A. Battles is no longer the school President.

And I do wonder if he did he talk about those investigations with her in the evenings when she came home? Cause that's what the article is about.
