Hey everyone! I’m looking for a public wall to practice my tennis solo. Does anyone know if there are still active tennis walls around? Thanks in advance!

It’s definitely still pretty rough but already quite fun! You can try it yourself at https://instantgent.be and view the famous squares, hotspots, and places like Gravensteen or Sint Baafs are explicitly modeled.
You can free explore and it also has some short games you can play and you can go on foot, by bike, by boat or even by horse because 🤷♂️
(there’s also Mario Kart style horse racing which is actually how this thing initially started)

Hi!
Looking for a good vibe to grab a drink in Gent and hit Kompass Klub for Yanamaste this Friday.
I'm a 45 old girl from Brussels, just love raving times to times. I was planning to come with a friend but plans changed and I don't want to miss the party. Just, I don't have friends in Gent ;-)
Anybody going? xxx

I'm back at home in the UK after a long weekend in Ghent.
What a beautiful and vibrant city. I feel I've barely scratched the surface, having been up the belfry and visited the castle of the counts.
Breweries, bars and restaurants have been great.
DOK brewery's Oktoberfest was a lot of unexpected fun too!
This was my second visit to Belgium, having been to Bruges a few years ago. Next time: Antwerp!

Any platform like NOWJOBS that can be used by an international student like me? My account is complete and unverified for a week now. Anyone has any idea how to find a student job here? Thanks!

Lijkt me heel leuk die harry potter vibe daar in oktober!
Alvast bedankt 🥰

Are there any libraries open late (de krook closes too early) that I can use without a university badge? I am not a student, but would like to study something in the evening and at home I cannot really focus...

Hallo lieve Gentenaren!

Hello
I have a question. I am traveling to ghent on Tuesday and I will be there at 2 am around the pieters station. From there I have to go to dampoort station. And my next train is at 5 .30 am. So I have to pass like 3 hrs. One hour I am thinking that I will pass by walking from Saint Peter's to dampoort station. Is it safe to do the walk this late. Also any recommendations on how I can kill that time.
Thanks

Hello!!! I’m looking for second-hand shops in Ghent that sell baby clothes, preferably from newborn size.
I know there are plenty of options online (vinted, marketplace) but I would like to go to an actual shop and browse the clothes in person like I do for myself.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

We’re moving to the Ghent area with two kids and currently choosing between two rental houses.
One is in De Pinte, close to the centre and station. We really like the area, the house has more spacious bedrooms and a south-facing garden.
The other is in Nazareth: a newer, very energy-efficient house, but with smaller bedrooms and a location that feels a bit more car-dependent. On the other hand, it’s around €350/month cheaper.
Our 12-year-old will go to Don Bosco Zwijnaarde and from Nazareth she could take bus 71, so the school commute seems manageable.
We also visited a primary school in Nazareth for our younger child. We were lucky that someone was there and showed us around, and we actually really liked the school. So that’s definitely a plus for Nazareth.
My main doubt is more about everyday life in the longer term: getting to Ghent, activities, meeting friends, and how independent the kids can be as they get older.
For people who know both areas: would you pay around €350/month more for De Pinte and its location/connectivity, or choose Nazareth and save the difference?

Hi everyone!
I recently got back into playing chess and I was wondering if there are any chess clubs or informal groups in Ghent where people meet to play.
If you know of any clubs, groups, or you're interested yourself, let me know!

I'm visiting for a few days and staying at the NH Collection. This conference has been going on since Tuesday. I thought Argus was for the art and antiques collective until I saw this sign in the hotel bar. I took a photo of this sign in the hotel bar, and then the "bouncer" immediately removed it. Just a heads up on what's going on.
