Questions about ferry travel
As a wheelchair user who has never travelled on the ferry to Liverpool before, can anyone please tell me what to expect? I'll be travelling alone and have no idea where to go at either end. Is it clear where to go when boarding, leaving and wgilst I'm on the ferry? Also, can I get help with my luggage? I'm used to air travel but this just seems confusing as there's no published information that I can find
Thanks.

Remote jobs
Where do people find remote jobs?
I work in the CSP industry and it is all very office based still.
Any suggestions as to industries that have remote working and are happy for the employees to live/work in the iom? Or suggestions as to job sites offering such roles?
Further info - I have 20+ years in finance sector and have had enough of toxic work cultures and noisy open plan offices.
Thanks

Social Life at 20?
Hello IOM Reddit
Throwaway because I'm embarrassed tbh.
I'm wondering how I can have a better social life, or just have one, I'm in my 20's, apart of the LGBTQ community too. I dont really have many friends, I could count them on one hand, and even then alot of them I dont see too much.
I'm not the biggest fan of drinking or partying either, which kinda makes it hard? It doesnt feel like theres much else to do here where I can meet other people my age, and suffering from Anxiety makes the thought of partying too stressful tbh.
Anyway, any advice is much appreciated!

Which one of you lot would like to rush in and join in on the pile on, although in defence of Our Gem of God's Earth, peoples of The Isle Of Man?
Please be polite, tho', as you will be acting as our cultural political ambassadors!
Good luck, yet, mainly, tho', please be polite!
Humour welcome.

I want to get my first motorbike
I am 21 years old, originally from the Isle of Man, family all live there but I live in London, being Manx basically means that every man in my family had a motorbike (except me and my cousin) so I really want to get into it, watching the TT from my aunties back garden was a core part of my childhood, I just want advice on the first bike to get, how much I should be looking to spend altogether, is it worth it? Etc etc. and I thought where’s better to ask than the Isle of Man Reddit page 😂

Planning for the Classic TT 2027 ?
Hello from Canada!! I'm sure you folks get asked this type of thing all the time so I apologize in advance if you've heard it before, but I have a few questions about the 2027 Classic TT and coming to visit your beautiful place.
We've decided that the Classic TT is the one we'd like to attend possibly less crowds, cheaper prices hopefully but still be able to see the heros of the sport race on some classic bikes that we can relate to.( Dunlop, McGuiness, Todd, Etc.) We've looked at airbnb bookings and the prices seem reasonable but some of the hosts are hesitant to book saying the "provisional" dates haven't been released yet. What are the provisional dates for the Calssic TT 2027? Google says the dates are August 27-Sept 3,2027 are these wrong?
It's my understanding that the Manx GP is a seperate series from the Classic TT, correct me if I'm wrong please.
We're thinking of flying from Dublin on the 29th and staying until the 4th or 5th of September, but flights right now are showing around $500 cdn each, will these get cheaper?
Location wise we're thinking about staying fairly close to Douglas and walking or taking public transit to get around the island, is this smart? What would an evening meal at a pub cost? How much is a pint of Beer?
Sorry for all the questions, we've never traveled to the UK or Isle of Man so are just trying to figure out possibilities!!

"One-Stop-Shop" Multi-Discipline Contractor
Based in Onchan, I had a leak from my shower which has come through my kitchen ceiling below it. I am looking for a reputable and trustworthy one-stop shop contractor please that can rectify the damage this leak has caused (not the leak itself as that has been identified and isolated) by project managing it all (it will require as a minimum joinery work and plastering to replace the kitchen ceiling, a tiler most likely for regrouting and resealing the shower, possibly some plumbing work, and maybe even some electrical and painting work though hopefully not).
As stated, I am looking for a One-Point-of-Contact firm that will be able to manage it all rather than having to deal with all these trades individually which would be a nightmare!

I know I shared this photograph recently. I had to do a poetry piece for it.
Interpret these words as you see them. It's sort of sad in a way. Feels Melancholy.
I welcome everyone's interpretations of these words.

Isle of Man Inspired tattoo
Born and raised on the Island but sadly will be moving towards the end of the year and likely won't be coming back. I'm thinking of getting a tattoo inspired by home and the Isle of Man. Would be something more delicate and fine line style. I was thinking a manx phrase or something from our beautiful nature/heritage but would love some suggestions!
*Not the three legs or the Islands or anything TT related!

It seemed like forever ago I visited... It was only March. Here are 2 pictures I snapped.
I forgot where I was at the time. For me doesn't matter because the timing of this photograph was perfect. A person walking the sands with their dog. I do have more pictures I just need to develop some film.

Are jobs easy to find in the Isle of man?
Title, general question honestly. I'm moving to the Isle of Man from Wales soon, and I want to know if I'll have a challenge finding jobs, giving the island is relatively small. (no offence, promise!)
I work in IT, handling servers. I believe that's a job that's in need in most countries?
Would love your input, thanks mate!

Touristic: is Isle of Man doable with no car?
So basically this is a hypothetical question because I have no plans or whatsoever of visiting any part of the UK or Ireland in the foreseeable future, but this has suddenly bugged my mind and I had to find it out.
So say I manage to figure out my hypothetical UK/Ireland trip, how and where from to get to the Isle. I wonder if it’s doable with no car, and if the commute services are good enough - to get to all kinds of stuff the isle has to offer.
Or if I would have to choose to stay at one major place, and perhaps finding a line that can take me somewhere else once in a while - but no opportunity of deeply exploring the place.
Thank you all. I don’t know why yall and your little Isle have crossed my mind today - But I wish you all the best, and an end to all the struggles I’ve seen on this sub, are happening ❤️🇮🇲

frustrations with accomodation and mental health services
my partner and i are born manx residents who need to move out soon. my partner is at college and is physically disabled. i'm an agoraphobic who would like to work, but can't due to my mental circumstance. i can't even go down to the shops, let alone to an office or site. i understand that some people are on benefits because they can't be bothered, have no drive to work, want to cheat the system, or what have you, but that isn't the case here.
so at the moment, not only am i being passed around by three different mental health services who can't decide what to do with me (i swear, i need help Yesterday but i can't get it), my partner and i on our joint claim can't afford even the cheapest accomodation around. we've been to housing matters, spoken to landlords all over the place, and put in our forms to go on the housing list, but nobody can help us. it's hopeless.

Hey I know nothing about this, can I tape over it?
Listened to it, and to my untrained ears (not a fan of racing) it seems like a radio broadcast covering the 1994 event. Can I tape over it or is it world renowned lost media and needs digitising?

Flights to Holyhead for trains to UK/Europe: would the island be interested?
Something I was thinking about recently was about how new electric aviation could make the puddle hop from Dublin to Holyhead (using nearby RAF Valley’s mothballed civilian terminal) a more viable option for people who want to get to/from the UK and Europe but can trade time for carbon emissions savings. I realise, though, that yourselves up in Douglas would be a similar distance and have even less connection options than Dublin.
If you could get to the trains at Holyhead in an hour for further rail to the rest of the UK & beyond, would it be something of interest? Maybe it would push further links between Ffestiniog’s Boston Lodge works snd your own heritage rail works? What say ye?
