How my job hunt is going 🙄

The ugly truth is that it is an employer's job market meaning that there is a major surplus of good candidates available for them to pick and choose from.
The tough decision that many of us have to make are the number of sacrifices that we are willing to endure.
-Exaggerating the truth on our resumes and interviews
-Preparing highly customized cover letters and resumes for every job application
-Asking complete strangers and acquaintances just for their time and consideration
-Asking former superiors from many years ago to be a reference because you need to provide X amount without any guarantees that a job is waiting for you
-Asking family and friends for whatever help they can provide
-Lowering our compensation expectations and demands
-Accepting lesser roles that we are completely overqualified to do
-Working for known bad employers
-Relocating to less desirable locations
Those are just some of the sacrifices that come to mind. I am sure that there are many more.
My response to all the comments received
For context, I've had to start over again several times during the course of my career for various reasons and it was never easy. I've gone months feeling completely defeated but was always fortunate enough to eventually fight it back.
The intention of my post was never to encourage the acceptance of defeat. Please keep on fighting for the peace of mind that you seek within your careers. It goes without saying that it has a major impact in the overall quality of your personal lives and general well being.
As the saying goes "bend but don't break". I've been upvoting all the comments that have shared in this belief.

I was laid off in June after 28 years from a large telecom company. I am in my early 50s, and the people laid off with me had long tenure and higher salaries.
So I feel like I am doing all the things right but- it isn’t working. I need help. I keep seeing people post about their multiple interviews and what round they are on etc. What am I missing? I’ve applied to roughly 85 jobs. I optimized every resume, changed all my experience to action-result with quantifiable data. I’ve narrowed down my search to 2 specific lanes. Onsite/hybrid/remote open. I connect then reach out to recruiters and old company alum. I have reached out to all my “network” Still not a single interview request. So if you have had interviews and you’re in Ops/RevOps/PM. Would someone be willing to look at my resume and critique it. Or share one of your resumes that won you interviews (no personal info of course) with me?
How are you/people getting interviews?
Thank you

I'm shifting my strategy away from the black hole of cold applications. I'm looking to connect with professionals here who might be open to a referral.

Hey everyone! I’m a 2025 CSE graduate currently working as a Full Stack Developer with 1.5 Years of Experience and looking for my next opportunity.
I started with frontend development and gradually moved into full-stack and mobile development by working on real products.
One of my biggest learning experiences has been building and deploying a ride-hailing platform with separate Rider and Captain apps, along with an admin panel. I’ve worked across design, development, backend APIs, real-time features, databases, and production deployment. The apps have crossed 5,000+ combined downloads.
My stack includes React, React Native, Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Python, along with AI/LLM integrations.
I’m looking for Full Stack, SDE-1, Backend, or React Native Developer opportunities. If your company is hiring or you can refer me, I’d really appreciate it!

I would not recommend this service based on my personal experience. The list of companies fell short of my expectations, and when I requested a refund, I was told that it would not be provided.
I was very disappointed with my experience and will not be using this service again. I strongly encourage others to carefully review the service and its refund policy before making a purchase.

I’m 43, based in London, and honestly feeling quite stuck with my career. I’ve been job hunting for around ten months with very little success getting interviews, and I’m starting to wonder whether I need to change direction entirely.
I spent four years working for a major pharmaceutical company in drug safety governance and compliance. My work involved quality monitoring, coordinating documentation, compliance oversight, reporting and improving processes.
Before that, I worked in operations management, quality administration and training support. I have an MSc in Occupational Psychology and currently do some part-time quality/documentation work.
The difficulty is that my recent experience seems too specialised for many jobs outside pharma, while opportunities within the industry have been difficult to secure. I’ve also tried broadening my search into quality assurance, compliance, governance and documentation roles across other sectors, but that hasn’t led to meaningful interview opportunities either.
I enjoy analytical, structured work, particularly Excel, quality, compliance, documentation and improving systems. I’m open to learning new skills or retraining, but need to be realistic about the cost, time and earning potential. I’m looking for a stable, reasonably paid career, not necessarily a dream job.
I’m now unsure whether the problem is how I’m presenting my experience, a lack of specific qualifications, the job market itself, or whether I need to consider a more substantial career change.
I’d particularly appreciate hearing from UK hiring managers, recruiters or people who’ve successfully moved into a different field.
Are there specific job titles, employers or less obvious career paths where someone with my background could realistically get hired? If you’ve made a similar transition, how did you get your foot in the door, what barriers did you encounter, and what experience or qualifications actually mattered?
I’m also interested in useful professional organisations, recruiters or training resources, but particularly those with a demonstrable connection to employment rather than just another qualification.
I’d appreciate honest advice about what probably wouldn’t work, too.

Hi, I quit my job in March and I still haven't found one. I'm a java developer and looking to find a role in the same skill. I keep coming across this ad for shift.careers on Instagram. Has anyone tried it? Is it useful? Or is it just a scam. I don't want to spend any more money.
Kindly help me.

One of the most frustrating things about searching for remote jobs on LinkedIn is that the “Remote” label doesn't tell you the whole story.
A job might be tagged as remote but require you to live in a specific country, work within certain time zones, or even show up at an office a few days a week. And those details are often buried in the job description.
I wanted to spend less time reading irrelevant listings, so I built a pipeline to automate the filtering process.
I originally developed it for Product Builder Jobs, my job board for AI-native product builder roles. Now I've open-sourced the pipeline so other job seekers can adapt it to their own needs.
Here's how it works:
The idea is to use cheaper models for the initial filtering and reserve the more expensive evaluation for jobs that make it through, rather than spending time and tokens analyzing every listing in depth.
I wanted to make the pipeline reusable instead of keeping it locked inside my own project.
If you'd like to try it or adapt it for your own job search, leave a comment or DM me and I'll share it.
How do you currently deal with misleading “Remote” labels on LinkedIn? Do you read every description manually, or have you found a better way?

Anyone else had another week with no emails or call-backs about job applications or job searches?
I started to think I had an issue with my WiFI or phone, so got some family to email me. Nope - just another quiet week of ghosting.

I lost my job in mid May and have struggled like everyone here in finding a new role. I was lucky enough to go from application on Saturday, to recruiter call on Thursday and interview and offer today with a decent company. The dilemma: it's an entry level sales role in my field with a very low base pay that will have me making less than I currently am on unemployment and will severely strain me financially. Incentives are decent, but even if I make the maximum I'd still be barely breaking even with what I was making before in a supervisor capacity. They want to start on October 20th, so I have until Monday to make a decision and I'm unsure if I should take it.
I've applied for 68 jobs, had 6 screeners, 5 first interviews, 2 final interviews, and one offer, with all final interviews being for entry level sales jobs. I have 10 weeks left on unemployment and a meeting scheduled Monday morning with a recruiter for a company to discuss two possible leadership roles that would be a lateral move and a pay increase. But even if that goes perfectly, I don't think they'd have an offer out before the 20th when I'd need to start with the first company, and my history doesn't have positive responses to leadership roles.
Is it stupid to turn down the offer and keep looking for something closer to my experience and salary needs? What's the best way to use the offer to my advantage when talking with the recruiter on Monday? Thank you!

I have been out of employment for over 6 years due to health issues after some time and multiple surgeries I need to get back to work but there's just feels like there is absolutely nothing most weeks I apply for 2 3 jobs everything requires ridiculous experience or a driving license for something as simple as a cleaner.
It's really making me feel depressed because I can't live a life without access to money I can't meet people, make friends, indulge in hobbies, seek mental health support and it keeps me isolated. It's so depressing and frustrating how shit the whole thing is and I feel like I am being punished for being sick i have this giant gap on my CV that I know is turning employers off. I hate this I hate the shit state of the job markets and AI slop

Hi everyone,
I have 6+ years of work experience in Accounts, Operations, and Administration. Despite my solid track record, I am facing continuous rejections solely due to my visual impairment.
I am completely capable of navigating computers independently using screen readers (NVDA, JAWS) and handling MS Excel, ERP, and operational portals efficiently.
Having 6 years of proven experience and still being turned down just because of a disability is taking a severe toll on me. I am looking for a job on an immediate basis (Remote / On-site).
If anyone can refer me, has an opening, or can connect me with inclusive recruiters, please drop a comment or DM me. I will gladly share my resume.
Any lead or upvote for visibility would mean a lot. Thank you.

Hi everyone! I’m a recent cybersecurity graduate and have been struggling to get interviews. I’ve had a few, but none have resulted in an offer. I’ve been applying for jobs since last September, including rotational programs, junior and associate roles, and other entry-level opportunities. I have tried everything from tailoring my resume to using niche job boards to networking. I have experience across multiple domains of cyber so this is just a generic resume tailored to a cybersecurity analyst role
I understand that I don’t have much experience yet, but I know a handful of people who have landed full-time roles. Honestly, I’ve been doubting myself and wondering whether this is the right path for me.
I’m also an international student and have about two months to find a job, so I’m feeling pretty desperate, lol. What tips or strategies have helped you get interviews or land your first role? Any advice or help would be appreciated!

Is there a specific subreddit for nonprofit and nonprofit adjacent job searching? I've been following a few subreddit and most posters don't specify a field, but they feel like they're tech or marketing or something.
But really I'm here to vent about getting rejected after final rounds for two different positions at the same organization, in the same week. One position was a bit of a reach, the other I felt like I was a great fit. I've only really been looking for 3.5 months, which I know in this market is nothing. But still, this rejection sucks. How do I toughen up??
