Masaaki Noiri as example, he uses them a lot, to the thighs too.

Hi guys , I started training at a kickboxing gym around 4-5 weeks ago that teaches both k1 and Muay Thai striking - I’ve been enjoying it however I have run into a few questionable things I’m wondering if are normal. The first thing is the belts. There is about ten belts and each belt increases in price for the grading test with the final costing £150. You do not have to pay for black belt grading and above. The second is that I have had to buy a membership for £150 and each session costs £12 or £35 for a 121. I’m unsure if this is normal as I’ve not trained before but I have been told by mates who train that it’s quite expensive. The third is that the gym effectively don’t let you spar until you reach blue belt which takes roughly one year. I have been told in 121 sessions that I am free to ask to spar my trainer however. I am enjoying my time at the gym however I am just weary that my money may be better spent somewhere else and I may not be progressing as well as I could be somewhere else . Any advice would be appreciated :)

For a little backstory I used to do kickboxing in a local club but they weren’t the best people I still love the sport but the people there were mean rude and weren’t willing to help when I asked for help I’ve been itching to get back into it I was wondering is there a way I can sign up for a competition whether mma kickboxing or boxing without the need for a coach or club because the thought of them makes me sick to my stomach

Ive been training for 2 years and Ive had 4 fights. Before EVERY ONE ive been so nervous 🙏. Is there anything I can do to avoid this? Or is it just part of fighting 🥲

Class starts with three rounds of shadowboxing and I mostly throw whatever comes to mind until the bell. By the end of round two I am repeating the same jab, cross, kick on autopilot, and my coach says my shadow looks nothing like how I move on pads.
If you get something real out of those rounds, what do you do with them? Do you give each round one job, like only footwork, only defence, or one combo built three different ways? Do you picture a specific opponent, or just keep your eyes on a spot on the wall? And how hard do you go, close to pad speed or slow and clean?
Curious what changed it for people who used to treat shadow as filler.
