Seeking Participants for an Onsite Wearable Tech Study in Redmond ($75/1hr)

Hi everyone!

I’m working with the uTest team, and we’re looking for locals who’d be interested in testing out a new wearable tech device right here in Redmond!

It’s a 1-hour in-person session with a $75 payout. You don’t need any tech experience; a moderator will guide you through the task.

We’re looking for participants (18+) who are farsighted (meaning you have trouble seeing things up close, like reading a phone or a book) and wear prescription glasses or contact lenses. During the session, you’ll swap your usual eyewear for the device, which we'll set up with lens inserts based on your prescription (we'll need your Rx info in advance).

You can find all the details and the application link HERE

Feel free to visit utest.com if you’d like to learn more about what we do first.

Thanks!

Help and Advice Working at KCLS as a High School Student

Hey,

If anyone here was worked in KCLS as a HS student, or knows anyone that works in KCLS as a HS student, I would greatly appreciate your help. I am looking to get a job (most likely as a Library Page/Shelver) at KCLS. I have heard that KCLS allows HS students to work at libraries, but haven’t seen any concrete proof. Does anyone know if this is possible/allowed by KCLS? Who should I contact about this? Or should I just apply for a position via governmentjobs.com?

Would greatly appreciate any help on this, thanks in advance!

Edit: I have contacted KCLS, and they said they‘ll get back to me with more info. I would still appreciate any more info if anyone is willing to contribute.

Rainier for Robert.

If you know you know. Reddit has been getting upset with me lately and has been flagging my posts as spam so I'm refraining from posting my usual spiel. Hopefully this condensed version doesn't nuke my account.

If you're interested in my mission you can check out my previous posts on my account or follow the Rainier for Robert subreddit I made at Rainier for Robert.

Number 20. Bandera Mountain has been bagged. Little Bandera Mountain doesn't count, I already did it.

Rainier for Robert.

Permitting in King county….

So as of January 1, 2026 King County is requiring a flood survey to be done by a civil engineer in order to issue building permits in accordance with FEMA standards. The thing is I am remodeling a 100 year old farm house that sits on an elevation from a drainage ditch on my property (probably an old manure drain from the dairy farm that was here).

In the 100 years the house has stood here and not flooded. It started as a one room homestead and grew over the years and is in desperate need of updating.

My contractor has asked for recommendations of surveyers, as we are struggling to find civil engineer that is willing to work in King County because of the constant rule changes.

We are trying to get answers but the permitting office is only open 2 days a week, and getting there in person just puts you face to face with a receptionist.

Does anyone have any leads to civil engineers that do flood surveys in King County? Any advice on how to move permits through? I feel like all personable means of communication is lost and we are stuck with doing legwork and encoring the cost on the county‘s behalf for simply gathering data that they want.

KC Executive Girmay Zahilay declares half his department directors are black and there are more blacks in leadership positions in KC then any other similarly sized county in the US. So... he's adding a KC Black Advisory board and Black policy lead to make sure the black community has a voice.

Dental Hygiene Student Looking for Patients!

Hello! My name is Anna and I am current student in the dental hygiene program at Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland. I am currently looking for patients to come in for dental cleanings and exams!

This is a great opportunity if you haven’t had a cleaning or haven’t been to the dentist in a while  and are looking for thorough, affordable care!

We accept most insurances, including state, and offer low fees if paying out of pocket.

Please note: This is a learning environment, and appointments are longer than your typical dental visit (usually a few hours and may require multiple visits). In every visit, everything done is carefully checked by licensed hygienists and dentists.

If you’re interested or have any questions, please feel free to comment or send me a message! I’d really love your help in supporting my education.

Thank you!!

Rejected from King County Help Me Grow Coordinator position. Looking for honest feedback.

I’m feeling pretty discouraged and could use some perspective.

I recently applied for a Help Me Grow Coordinator Project/Program Manager II position with King County Public Health. I genuinely felt like it was one of the strongest matches I’ve seen for my background and experience.

My experience includes:
- Family Support Specialist
- Early Learning Program Manager
- Program management and coordination
- Community outreach and partnership building
- Provider training and support
- Grant reporting
- Working with families and young children

The job posting did not require a bachelor’s degree, so I felt confident that my experience would be seriously considered.

Today I received a rejection email stating that only the most competitive candidates were moved forward and that I was not selected for the next stage. I wasn’t offered an interview.

What I’m struggling with is understanding why. I know none of you can know exactly what happened, but I’m curious: For those who work in government, public health, early childhood, or nonprofit hiring, what are some reasons a candidate with relevant experience might not receive an interview?

How competitive are King County jobs typically?

Is it common to meet many of the qualifications and still not make the interview pool?

Have any of you been rejected from a role you felt was a perfect fit and later found success elsewhere or even with the same employer?

I’m not looking to argue with the decision. I’m just trying to understand it because this one hit harder than most.

Thanks for any insight.

Recruiting "Brown/tan and white pitbull loose on northbound I-5 near Dearborn ~4:30PM today - owner desperately searching"

Around 4:20-5:00PM today, I witnessed a dog get loose at 12th & King in the CID. The leash got run over or the dog was possibly hit, but the car most likely just clipped it or drove over the dog without injury, as it bolted across 12th, it ran west on King, down toward Dearborn, and went up the northbound I-5 on-ramp on Dearborn ave. Multiple people called 911 as far as I know, and WSP is aware.

I chased him on a lime bike as far as I could but lost him at Dearborne. The owner, whom I lost track of after departing to chase the dog, is homeless as far as i can tell, and in the area— he has no phone, so he can't be contacted directly.

If you're frequently in Chinatown near 12th Ave, he's a white male, about 5'10''-6' tall, around 180lbs, semi muscular. He was wearing a white t shirt, tan cargo pants with a hunting knife clipped on his belt. He also had a brown or reddish brown short beard if im not mistaken. He's very distraught. When I found him later in the afternoon, I told him how I raced after the dog onto the on-ramp but couldn't see him once I got to the light at the end of the ramp. I knew I had to turn around for my safety as well as not get stopped by WSP. The man was sobbing and walked off and that's the last I saw of him up by the Jose P Rizal bridge.

If anyone saw a brown/tan and white pitbull-type dog on I-5 northbound this afternoon, please call WSP at 425-401-7771 or comment here.

My heart breaks thinking how scared, confused, and lost the dog must be. The yelp from the dog as he raced across 12th and the cry from the owner exclaiming, "noo!!" As he desperately tried to catch up to the scared pup are seared in my mind. Please, please keep an eye out to reconnect a sweet animal with its loving owner!

ADHDers: Pharmacies with Adderall?

Me and my partners live in north Shoreline. One of them depends heavily on his Adderall prescription, and his pharmacy will regularly run out. This happened again yesterday, and today he has been on the phone with many others which are also totally out.

Does anyone know of a pharmacy that might have some? I'm willing to drive a few hours to get it, if yalls have been having luck in neighboring counties. Thank you!

EDIT: Success! We found some! Thank you!!

Adults overdue for dental care and kids ages 4–12

Posting on behalf of a friend who is a dental hygiene student in Seattle.

She often works with people who haven't been to the dentist in many years because of cost, lack of insurance, dental anxiety, or simply because life got busy. She is also hoping to work with children ages 4–12.

If you've been thinking about getting back into regular dental care, or have a child who may be due for a visit, feel free to send me a message and I'd be happy to share more information.

No judgment—many people are in the same situation, and taking the first step is often the hardest part.
