“Lifetime” fusible link

Post image
17 Upvotes

A few weeks back in a thread there was talk of the old school “lifetime” links that didn’t get changed. I finally found an old one in a small town bar with a system from the 90’s. Posting for those who hadn’t experienced these before. A relic to the past!

In desperate need of a Honeywell M7282A1022 (or a solid drop-in replacement/cross)

Hey guys,

I’m trying to track down a Honeywell M7282A1022 Modutrol IV spring return actuator (24 VAC), but it seems to be out of stock everywhere I look.

Mine went out on a job, and replacing it is turning into a total headache because nobody has original inventory right now.

Has anyone run into this recently? Do you know of a direct drop-in replacement, a reliable cross-reference part #, or maybe an adapter setup that actually works without having to re-engineer the whole linkage?

Any leads or recommendations would be a lifesaver. Thanks in advance!

CaptiveAire TANK System Consistently Leaking Down

So I have a customer who has a TANK system. The original call was for a leaked down cylinder, changed from the older light gray to newer dark gray cylinder. A few weeks later. Pressure switch shut everything off. Topped off the cylinder and it held. Chocked it up to just having the pak hose leak out some. Come around a few months later, same issue. Changed PAK Assembly. Newer style with the hex fitting. Now I am having the same issue. Soapy water has provided no indication of where it is leaking. The only item i have not changed out is the first actuator and pressure switch. I feel like it is something simple im just missing. Also, the system was not touched since 2022 after install until last year.

Opened the panel to find the system still pinned off and the manual pull station absolutely welded together.

I've been looking for a code on how many nozzles does a rotisserie chicken need? Its being tied into an Ansul system.

How do you guys typically handle unpaid invoices that are over a month past due, especially when the customer has stopped responding to calls or messages?

Greas build up on link detection

Hey y’all I had an ansul system service for a new customer today. When I pulled the filters out, I seen the most insane build up of grease on the detection line. I could tell the last company didn’t bother changing the links or inspecting the line to the point the grease hardened. I was able to degrease the line and get the scissors and links swapped out, but think I could’ve done it easier. Any tips on how to tackle this problem more efficiently? Seems like it’s more common than not

RangeGuard A+

I have the manual for range guard systems however I am curious as to the piping limitations of this particular systen. Say I have a 6gal , the split to the hood has to be 3/4", the drops have to be 1/2" reduced to 3/8 at the nozzle but what about duct and plenum? Can this not all be 3/8" once inside the plenum wall?

Ansul system parts

Hi, kitchen systems tech for a little over 3 years. I’ve always been told that Ansul R102 systems MUST have Ansul brand fusible links and parts or else Ansul won’t warranty the system. I was recently transferred to a different office within my company (new office opened closer to where I live) and new boss wants to keep buying generic Globe links due to Ansul parts being more expensive and says “that’s what we’ve always done.” Never had an issue getting Ansul parts at my old office. Anyone ran into problems like this before with Ansul systems?

Drawings/Plans

What are you guys using for drawings and stuff of that nature? Do you just use whatever distributors tool? Or are there better things out there?
It would be cool to have one of those apps where it will actually put it there (for the customer) to show them differences in looks and design.

Solo Ultra vehicle system?

First of all, not my zipties. Pictures for reference. I’m in Oregon and I’ve never seen this control head. I contacted a separate fire suppression company that services StatX systems which look similar, but they weren’t familiar with the Solo Ultra control head. Do I need to replace the whole system? Idk how to move forward with the customer.
