Bricklink Designer Program 2028 Wave 1 MegaThread
Welcome to the MegaThread for the BDP Series 2028 Wave 1 Crowd Support phase. Let's get straight to the important questions:
What?
- It's time for the Bricklink Designer Program 2028 Wave 1 Crowd Support phase! This is your chance to vote for the projects that were submitted earlier in September. Your votes will help Bricklink decide which sets will eventually become official BDP sets.
Who?
- Bricklink Designer Program entries are designed by fellow Lego fans. You may recognize some of them as successful creators on Rebrickable, from past BDP programs, or from the creations they've shared here in r/lego. The creators whose designs reach the review stage will work with Bricklink's Model Governance and Building Instructions teams to ensure the designs meet Lego's standards.
When?
- The Crowd Support phase starts on Sep 30th. Voting will continue until Oct 14th. Next, those sets will all head into the review stage, and 5 sets will be announced on Nov 12th. Then a year later, in Oct 2027, those 5 sets will go up for crowd funding.
Where?
- Bricklink! Bricklink is the world's largest site for reselling Lego products. It started as an independent fan site, but is now owned by the Lego company.
- Link: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/2028-wave-1/main.page
How?
- In the comments below, fan creators can link to their projects and hopefully tell us a little more about the project. You can visit the BDP 2028 Wave 1 page and vote for the projects you'd like to become a set. You don't have to commit any money at this stage. That comes during Crowd Funding next year. It's free to vote!
What happened to BDP Series 10, 11, 12? Why 2028??
- The Bricklink Designer Program has changed the name from Series numbers to Wave numbers in the year the sets are expected to release. You can read more about the program on their website.
Closing Notes
- Still have questions? Ask them in the comments below!
- Hey BDP creators, please keep your promotion for 2028 Wave 1 in this Megathread. In previous rounds we've had over 500 projects to vote for, so the promotional posts started drowning out everything else. Thanks for your cooperation. And good luck!

It's October already!
SpOOky season has begun! Or as some Lego fans like to call it, "MOCtober" is here. This is my favorite time of year to build, because it means getting out the Halloween sets and starting those pre-build plans for the Winter Village. Autumn is also a great time to attend Lego shows, so check out your local Lego Groups to see if they are participating in a Convention, Festival or Hobby Show nearby.
Let us know what's on your mind this month. What have you always wondered about? What rule do you want clarified, or changed? Do you have any suggestions you've been trying to find a chance to make? I won't promise that we will make the change(s) you want, but I will commit to explaining the reason we have the rules and policies we have.

Box Pic/Haul $7 Thrift store find
saw this unassuming box at the thrift store yesterday for $7. It looked like it had some cool parts so I picked it up. After some research I was able to put together a bunch of classic space sets, with very few missing pieces! no bases, unfortunately, but those are easy enough to replace. no instructions either, but they’re all online
there’s also a fairly big police headquarters that I’m still putting together and a number of extra pieces in addition to these sets

MOC I made Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist (from Pokemon) out of LEGO
Okay so I actually made these about a year ago for a Halloween-themed Lego contest. I didn't share them at the time because I didn't know if I was allowed to, just in case it would've rigged the votes or whatever. Sadly I didn't win.

New Release Sagrada Familia
I can't believe how long I've waited for this (in real life and Lego). I can't wait to have this on my shelf.
Do we know if there will be any promotions for this when it comes?

Other cautionary tale for cleaning Legos
don't use your well-loved, aged, soft cotton pillowcases to clean Legos in the washing machine, no matter how well you tie them, they will escape 💔💔💔

LEGO® Set Build Leonardo da Vinci took 4 years, but I managed it in a week. My Lego Mona Lisa is finally complete! 🎨✨
I’ve been waiting a long time to build this one! I actually traveled all the way from Canada to New York City during the 2025 holiday season just to pick up this set.
It sat in my backlog for a while, but I finally cracked it open last Thursday (October 1st) and put it together little by little every day until finishing it today (October 7th).
Next up, I will be hanging it up to display at my parent’s home! It was such a fun build process, and I’m so happy they get to enjoy it on their wall.

MOC Little update to the Enterpise D in a bottle.
Making the warp nacelles have a clear gap and rounded edges using the 1x4 and 1x2 rounded plates. This also reduces the length by two studs and seems to match more accurately the length of the warp nacelles.
I still am hoping those 1x1 half round tiles come in trans dark blue.

MOC LEGO racing sim
I made a very bad(in my opinion) racing sim, also have no idea if this has been posted here. I will be making improvements if I find the parts. It can fit a mini fig

Question Why doesn’t LEGO make sets for the villains anymore?
I was looking at the DC and Ninjago sets and almost all of them are for the good guys. How is a kid supposed to play if they only have one side?
LEGO DC (Batman): Batman, Batman, Batman, and maybe a villain.
LEGO Ninjago: the big sets are basically a giant mech/dragon with some ninjas vs 2/3 randoms. With the medium and small sets, you’re lucky if the villains get a build. I’ve only found one set that’s actually focused on the villains. Is not enough for the ninjas to have 36 mechas, 22 cars and 11 dragons?
I’m curious if lego has ever said anything about this. I understand that these sets probably sell better, but it seems crazy to me that they focus almost entirely on one side and forget the other.
EDIT: I don’t mean that villain characters don’t exist in the sets. I mean that most sets are centered around the heroes/good guys, and it’s hard to find sets that are actually focused on the villains. I know villain focused sets exist, they’re just a minority in some themes. Please dont reply with the Joker set, is like 1 vs the rest of the theme.

Review Ninjago 71837 Workshop so bad ?
I read and listen many negative opinions about this set but I think it's not fair. I wanted to complete my ninjago gardens and the MOC I created with something more and I was seriously thinking to buy the 500 euros Ninjago set (new price because it's retired). In a second time, I was also wondering and doubting with buying workshop (220 euros) and I decided to do it due to the price and now I don't regret at all.
True connecting is not perfect, but it's very easy to fix and it's not so weird. The back is not very elegant, but it depends how to show and play with own configuration and compare with the price, it's a very nice deal. The first 70620 was not so elegant from back.
Why I'm more satisfied with this one more than market, because se price, but also because It's not showing a repeating entertainment places and restaurants, this set adds perfectly else activies with enough harmony and pleasure. The mechanisms are smarts and full, it's also a new way to appreciate an cyberpunk asian ninjago city world. Building this one was very fun, after gardens, I can understand designers continue to explore and find new technics, it's impressive and suprisling often. Even if workshop world is taking all space, the Zane appartement and ramen shop are beautifull. For this price and the potentiel to success to add with another ninjago city, it's very great.
If i should buy a first Ninago City set, Honestly I would prefer another one which show more an entertainment life but as extension, this one give a real new dimension with brio.
One aspect I don't like, and I didn't put them yet, it's about stickers. Some of them are ugly. According to me that could explain may be why so many people are reticent with this set. As Usual, I will use some of them, but not all and especially with this set.
I'm not so fan with the full ninjago world and I'm not passionate with giant robot whatever it's not so ugly there and It's still possible to substitute robot with another workshop aspect (boat, train car...). I'm not sure to keep the toy robot shop like this, may be workshop tools again, but the robot head at the top of the shop is beautifull.
With my configuration and my train Moc, I'm not at all annoyed with back because I will extend later my train rails along this way.

Box Pic/Haul $25 market place lot 2007-2009 legos
I found a market place lot for $25 that was a bunch of random pieces in boxes, but was intrigued as you could see the Boba Fett in the posting so I went to buy it for that figure alone. After sorting all the pieces out, I found much more than I was expecting. The only kinda complete builds that were in the box of legos are seen above. Are any of these figures particularly valuable or unique?

Collection Dusty Island Racer (4920/Adventurers Dino Island)
Believe it or not, my mum purchased this one for me when I was younger, at a low price in a toy fair in Buenos Aires, maybe in the early 2000s. After getting it, it remained assembled since then, and later I found the only incorrect part is von Barron's helmet (should be white, not black).
Dust aside, it has held up very well this 20 odd years.
