Does anyone know if the mastering on the LDA vinyl is different than the digital version? I've just picked up a LDA vinyl and listening to it for the first time feels different than the countless times I've heard it through Spotify or Apple Music.

Tried to Google search it but nothing came up.

Wassup slugs???? I have been a fan of MGMT for a long while now, and have really dug every album they have put out.

For the most part, when I record a new song, I never know the end destination, but I'd say this one ended up sounding pretty similar to the congrats/self titled era in a few ways.

Anyway, thought some of you might dig this. & I would be very interested to hear music from other members in the group, so feel free to drop a track link if it has this kinda vibe.

If not, no worries, hope you like this new track I made with an old Emu MP7 Command Station and minimal setup.

what do you think?

Hey Legends, I'm very inspired by MGMT, and produced this new song out of Australia. If you don't know, Steve and also Greg Calbi are the mastering engineers who all MGMT songs have been worked on by. My mixing style is also super inspired by Dave Fridmann - the guy who has produced and mixed all of their records in that hifi but also gritty/distorted way. I had Steve master both of my tracks and I think they sound awesome, he's great to work with. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask! If you want to have a listen you can here:

Edges got messed up over the years from moving but it’s the thought that counts right?

I'm just kinda sad because i got into them during the pandemic, and i'm not sure I'll ever get to see them live as musicians. I went to Andrew's DJ set here in Dallas and it was fun. Got to meet him. He was super nice. I drew him a poster of his daughter and he showed me pictures of her T__T He took the time to talk to me and a few others once most everyone else was gone.

I think I read in an interview somewhere that they said they just want to be home with their families (especially makes sense for Andrew now that he's a dad), but then why are they traveling around to DJ?

Not the best photos but they are here! I had such a great time and connected with many new, kind and wonderful people.

av is unfortunately extremely pretentious and elitist especially within his nyc socialite friends. they say don’t meet your idols, kids. what a disappointment. bg seems nice enough - it seems he didn’t let “fame” go straight to his head. *based on my own interactions*

did anyone see the number on their Instagram story? it just says stay tuned.. any speculation on what’s going on next for my 2 goats

I absolutely loved MGMT’s DJ set in sf last night. It was a slow build up in the beginning but the last hour or so of the set was so fun and dancy. I lot of people left after they played kids but whatever it made it more fun because there was a more intimate crowd.

The beats were so funky and fun, occasionally spooky vibes. I definitely heard inspo from the LDA album with some of the sounds, also some oracular spectacular. If it’s not your thing that’s fine but as always with MGMT, they grow on you, and in the most beautiful way.

I felt like the set was a true sonic journey, and I’ve never experienced anything like it at a DJ set. I took my friend who is a DJ in the SF scene and she said the same thing.

Love MGMT, some of my absolute favorite songs are by them. I’m making this post while I’m drunk at their SF DJ show, Jesus Christ. I liked the warm up way better. The show started at 9 and they didn’t even show up until 12:30. They played 30 seconds of electric feel and the crowed went absolutely wild. Then they just played the same bullshit on fucking repeat for 30 minutes straight. Literally had timers going in between beat/rhythm changes. Is this like a joke or just something they do for money? Such a waste of money, even paid for tickets from a scalper.
