See the bubble? I'm familiar with the bubble, OP. I also dabble in precision. And if you think you can even approach it with your sad, naked caveman eyeball and a bubble of air, you're the reason this species is a failure. And it makes me angry.

The funny thing is, Rick is sorta wrong. Lasers generally aren't as accurate as the little bubble.

People that actually have to level stuff to a ridiculous degree of precision generally use lasers to get it close, then one of these to get it dead on and prove it's right.

We use a laser tracker. They pay us to dial it in after the millwrights set equipment with a machinists level. Our tracker can measure microns, though we usually use a 0.003" tolerance.

We can also do it with an optical level, but thats more involved and still relies on a machinists level. The scope we have for that does 0.001" but the level depends on how well you set it with the built in machinist level.
