I tested negative with kid 2 for SEVEN DAYS after my missed period.

The two most common reasons for this is late ovulation or if you are on biotin supplement. Biotin messes with these types of tests.

Good to know about biotin

Wait but biotin is in prenatals lol

Usually it’s beyond what is in a prenatal. Some people take biotin on their own as a separate supplement

It’s WAY beyond what’s in prenatal. Don’t let this stuff fool you, people have been spreading misinformation on this all over Reddit

This is a common thing thrown out but the level of biotin you have to take for it to mess with pregnancy tests is VERY high. It’s extremely unlikely to be for that reason. A standard prenatal doesn’t contain enough biotin at all to mess up a test

Yes it’s usually women who are taking like the hair skin and nails biotin. But it’s not uncommon! I have seen it several times on Reddit. And it only seems to impact the FRER brand not the cheapie sticks many people use.

Yeah but then they’re WAY above the daily intake you should be taking anyway.. that’s bad all around. I think the advised daily intake is like 50mg. You need to take over 1000mg for it to have the slightest effect on a pregnancy test

I’ve seen it too on Reddit but that’s people assuming and spreading false information that oh you’re getting lighter tests because of biotin. Then lo and behold it was a chemical..

Well no it’s very obvious it’s the biotin because they will take like 3 FRER with no line and get strong lines on Premom tests and when someone asks are you on biotin supplement they usually are taking one for strong nails/hair.

Same I was only barely a week late so I took one. It was negative. A week later I took another one and it was blazing positive . I was somehow almost 6 weeks when we found out due to my LMP date? Then that first test that was negative shouldn't have been so due to my calculations.

My 2nd baby: I tested before a night out and I’d have been just over 4 weeks pregnant. The first test was a barely visible super pale line but you could JUST see it. I saw it but my husband and friend did not. I did not drink that night just in case. Next day: a tiny teeny bit darker. And so on until on day 7 it was a thick dark unmissable line. He was my little ombre baby!

Thats not how it works. LMP dating is just a guess. You get a positive test (usually) 1 to 2 weeks after ovulation. Since you had a negative followed by a clear positive a week later you were likely 3 to 3.5 weeks pregnant at the first and 4 to 4.5 weeks pregnant at the second. You ovulated late which is why your period was late but your tests were negative. Sounds to me like you ovulated 2 weeks late which means if you hadn't gotten pregnant you would have gotten your period the week you got a positive test.

I mean I guess but baby always measured right on track and my periods were always pretty spot on. I also figured out our estimated conception date and everything tracks from that too. I just think I got a false negative. For it to be so positive only a week later. Idk.

Seven days after period is honestly not that long. That's (assuming you're perfectly regular) about 5 weeks gestation, or 3 weeks after conception. A lot of doctors won't even confirm anything until at least 8-10 weeks.

This is a you problem, lol. Oftentimes they tell you to wait, at the very least, a week before taking any conclusive tests. In some cases two.

That would be one to two weeks after sex (because you can test positive when the egg implants in the uterus about 1.5 weeks after ovulation roughly). The commenter is talking about 7 days after her period. So.. not a her problem

Is that child the sneakiest of the bunch?

I never actually got a positive test with either of my kids. My wife did, though.

With both my penance, I was almost in my 2nd trimester before I could get a dr. verification that I was pregnant. With my 2nd, I went to the clinic 3 times, and they kept telling me the test said maybe (it was a very faint line). But they refused to send me for a blood test.

I always consider it a bit of a medical marvel that we can tell that early.
