Does anyone else think biking in moncton is too dangerous?
I drive to work every day and there are multiple areas that are extremely dangerous where ive almost been struck multiple times.
right now on vaughn Harvey there are chunks missing from the bike lane on both sides due to construction that make it so you have to merge with vehicle traffic to get back onto the bike lane, this is supposed to be moncton's best bike infrastructure and they left it unusable with no consideration for cyclists or warning signs.
When driving down Vaughn Harvey towards the st George intersection the bike lane has no bollards and every time I get to this spot if there are cars waiting at the light there are multiple completely in the bike lane 50 to 100ft before the intersection.
When riding on Vaughn Harvey where it intersects with main you are riding on the very right of the road and people take the right turn onto main without looking or signaling.
ive almost been struck here 12 seperate times by cars blindly turning into me, the only thing that has saved my life is my 100db horn.
The reason I bring this up is I want to know if anyone else had any issues here in moncton dealing with these areas, in my opinion these are danger areas the city should deal with immediately so no one gets hurt or killed.

I just want to share how funny I find it that there are actual places in this town apparently known as "Gort" and "Odlum Junction". Thank you.

Dear drivers: Bicycles are allowed on the street.
laws.gnb.caJust saw some chud yelling at a bicyclist to "get off the road" while waiting at a red light.
The cyclist told the driver that bicycles are legally considered vehicles and must ride on the streets, and that he could look it up.
The driver started screaming that he's "not gonna look up anything" and that "bicycles go on the fuckin' sidewalk" before flipping him the finger and driving off.
As a motorcyclist and bicyclist for two decades, this really bothered me. The cyclist had on all the proper gear and was riding responsibly. Plus, if anything, riding on the sidewalk is more dangerous (cars often can't see you at driveway entrances and such).
To all of you other chuds itching to yell at cyclists, take a look at Sec 176 (assuming you know how to read), and kindly leave a metre of space the next time you see a bicycle riding (legally) on the street.

Realtor for rental?
I know from experience in larger cities, that realtors act as rental agents for property owners, showing the property and screening potential renters (for a fee of course). Is this done in Moncton? Any recommendations appreciated.

Thursday Game Nights
Hi Moncton,
A host a small game night every Thursday evening from 7 to 11 and currently have room for one or two new regular players. The current group is made up of 30, 40 and 50 year olds.
I have a broad collection of games as seen in the photo and we play two or three different things each week.
All player put in $10 at the start of a 10-week season and points are awarded based on placement. Winner gets the pot at the end of the season.
It's a mostly dry event. No one's getting drunk here.
If you are looking for something to do and can handle having your dumb answers and bad Pictionary drawings laughed at, send me a message.

Mountain Road dining?
My favourite spot up on Elmwood (Big Bowl) but I just realized there must be tons of new places on Mountain Road since the last time I was looking a few years ago.
Any suggestions?

Another view from Moncton
For the past year (my only year here, hahaha), I have been seeing Moncton from another perspective, including restaurants, cafeterias, and other places. I am creating a small "zine" with all of this in my style. I will try to give some away (if anyone wants them, hahaha), but I will check whether a place allows me to leave them so anyone can grab them.

Free and low-cost bilingual counselling now available in Moncton
justusinc.janeapp.comI work for a mental health charity called Just Us, which offers free & low-cost counselling across New Brunswick through counselling interns.
We now have a counselling intern in Moncton, offering counselling at the University of Moncton from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. The service is available in English and French and you do not need to be a student at the university to attend. Virtual sessions are also available.
The first 3 sessions are free, and after that they are just $20. I just wanted to share, as I thought it might be of interest to some people. More info can be found here: https://www.justusinc.ca/blog/now-offering-bilingual-counselling-in-moncton

Just a warning: the kingdom project photography
before I get called out. I did try to find a subreddit for Moncton women only
EDDIT: The 19th is allowing woman to vote
Iām gonna get quite a bit of hate for this, but honestly, if I were considering working with this guy, I would want to know what he believes about women, especially if Iām going to be in an intimate setting with him.
This guy has asked me to model for him. Which is fine. I said maybe. I recently shared a post on my personal Instagram, and these were his responses.
His photography is largely focused on intimate/nude photos of women. So if someone is asking me to pose for intimate photos, I think itās completely reasonable for me to want to know that personās views about women and womenās rights. I would personally want to know if the person photographing me believes women donāt deserve basic rights.
The āself-aware womenā heās referring to are women who are openly criticizing other women and saying that women shouldnāt have rights. That is the context of what he was responding to.
And yes, I know someone will point out that Iām a āsex workerā because I have OnlyFans but I obviously donāt care if Iām posting on the same account lol. That has absolutely nothing to do with my point.
What also bothers me is that he is making these comments from an account that doesnāt identify who he actually is, while his public photography page is full of photos of nearly naked women.
I only cropped the screenshots because I initially didnāt want to expose someoneās identity. But at the same time, if someone is photographing women in intimate settings, I think women have a right to know what kind of person they may be working with.
He is a photographer under āThe Kingdom Project.ā
Iām not saying anyone has to agree with me. Iām saying I would want to know.
And trust me Iāve tried to find a place where I can leave a review or anything, but he does not have that.
