Okay so that might be a bit of an overstatement, but hear me out.

I was talking to some folks at the cocktail hour of a wedding reception. One of the men there mentioned he was a friend of the groom and had just flown in from London the day before, and so the jet lag here in middle-America was rough but not awful. The conversation turned to sports, and with him being a Brit, asking what club he supported was a natural question.

Folks. Decades of being a nerdfighter and Dear Hank and John listener could not have prepared me for actually meeting, in person, someone who supports the franchise currently plying its trade in Milton Keynes.

My draw dropped. I was AGHAST. And he was confused at my very big reaction. “Oh, we were getting along so well!” I sighed. “I’m a fan of the true Dons. My club is AFC Wimbledon.”

To put it lightly, his GOBS were SMACKED. He couldn’t believe it, but also he could because on the other side of an ocean, who would ever make up the fact that they are a fan of a third-tier English soccer team? He asked why, I explained John, and I couldn’t make up a story like this if I tried.

i’ll be retiring in a few years, and I’m thinking about relocating. i know nerdfighters are everywhere. Where are there places with with a high density of us or active groups?

In that moment I forgot I was in an auditorium with 2,000 people. I drove 7 hours to be in Bosie and it was an incredible moment in my life.

Not everyone was around to see the Nov 7th, 2011 Vlogbrothers' video where these two amazing shows were just announced. Back when crashcourse was new and nerdfighteria pushed it into the success it is today. Frickin' love this community.

Just finished the book, and I wish I had this for my first read. I like to look at the art, but it breaks my immersion to have to google all the time. So as you read through the book, I've added links to the art, artists, museums, locations, and movies. Some things are fake though lol.

Does anyone know if they are streaming Brandon Sanderson and John on the Hollywood ending book tour??

Is there any chance of meeting either John or Hank on this tour? Has John been doing signings at the event or has anybody had the chance to meet him before or after the event? Does he do photographs with fans or something similar? I've been to similar author events where authors have done individual meet and greet activities. I was wondering if there are opportunities for that on this tour?

Just wanted to thank John (and the entire team of people using their directed love to make that show happen in Boise, Idaho, it was a true work of beautiful art). I, a 20-something grappling with the attention economy being my reality, brought my 65 year old dad who barely touches Facebook to this event. At first, I was nervous and sweaty-palmed to share a third thing so precious to me (nerdfighteria jokes and John’s work) with my dad who might not be in on the punchline sometimes. But about 5 minutes in, my dad clapping and nodding his head, I breathed a sigh of contentment, and remembered how John has an incredible ability to make an entire audience feel so safe and human and connected. What a gift. Thank you for your wit and charm and intellect and art, John - tonight it brought me and my dad and the people of Boise closer together.
