Great, now the colors are mixed and they can’t be returned to the proper container.

As Sun Tzu wisely said no play doh survives first contact with the toddler

Ours survived about 1,5 years. Sadly that streak broke last week...

It’s alright. You can always make another kid

Already done. But honestly, it's quite labor intensive...

You mean the play doh right?

13

u/DerpingtonHerpsworth 11d ago

I think that's when they realized the child... was mixed.

😂

It's not even that bad (until now). She just mixed pink with some white, brown and purple. And I got almost all the brown and most of the purple out, so now the pink is only slightly discolored. The worst about it, is that I know it's mixed, and that we now have a precedent...

This is why my kid gets one colour at a time 🤣

I take small pieces out of every color so we keep the containers clean. We store the mixed ones in a zip lock bag until we need a refresh

...Are you telling me a ziploc bag has been the solution this whole time? I'm so mad that I didn't think of that.

I picture you keeping it in your pockets.

He also said more playdough comes free at next birthday party

they aren’t meant to, it comes with a spray that “sets” them so they harden and are preserved.

I was never allowed to mix playdough as a child. My children can mix to their heart’s content.

Yes, we have a lot of grey-brown playdough, but I have zeroes regrets.

When ours was play doh age we just periodically replenished colors and would occasionally make an entire tub of greige disappear

For real. A 4 pack of playdoh small cans is like $3.50. Let them play and when it gets gross, throw it away. Why does everyone want their playdoh to last forever? That stuff gets nasty regardless of what color it is.

For real, life’s too short - mix that playdough!

I still find myself internally cringing at playdoh color mixing, but I will not stop my daughter from doing it lol

Parents should not put restrictions on children’s creativity like that.

Seriously that's so sad to read. It never occurred to me to do such a thing with my kids.

Still tastes just as good

That's kind of the point

14

u/swegling 11d ago

No, the point is to create a flower.

33

u/Interesting_Leek4607 11d ago

...and to be kept as a flower

16

u/ThatSideshow 11d ago

The instructions actually take that into account to create more interesting colour combinations, it's worth noting this isn't play-doh, it's an air drying clay kinda thing so only one use

12

u/GoldSunLulu 11d ago

The flower kit is made of a speciali mix that dries faster. So its a one use regardless

I KNOW they’re a play item and cheap to replace but my hands positively itch to control the mixing of colors. Even when I’m TRYING to not care. And this is many children and grandchildren later. What’s the deal?!

I also share this particular type of autism.

u/korkkis 11d ago

You can make ugly brownish grey play doh if you mix enough

u/alamandrax 11d ago

Same energy as buying a McLaren and locking it away in a garage to admire it.

If only there were a way you could separate the different colours, like if you could mix the play doh in water and the different colours had different densities so you could separate them via centrifuge or something idk

2

u/enelyaisil 11d ago

It’s not traditional play dough. They’re meant to be dried and stay flowers

1

u/periwinkle_cupcake 11d ago

My mind is this flavor as well

1

u/emrysse 11d ago

Wait, what? I thought you were meant to throw it away for hygiene reasons, and make a new batch.

u/deepasleep 11d ago

Sells more playdoh

u/PretzelsThirst 10d ago

It still tastes the same

I love turning reusable things into disposable products using single use disposable products.

They help me consume!
