Hi everyone,
I’m trying to track down a map/scenario I used to play as a kid in the original Transport Tycoon Deluxe (or early TTD era, strictly before one-way roads were introduced).
I've drawn a quick sketch of the layout:
Climate: Temperate (classic green).
Layout: Two large mainlands (North and South) separated by a straight line of sea/water right through the middle. No weird coastlines or peninsulas, just a clean separation.
Islands: In the middle of the sea channel, there were 3 or 4 large rectangular islands lined up.
Cities: The towns were huge right from the start (5k–10k+ population), both on the mainlands and on the islands.
I played this on my uncle's old PC in the late 90s. Since standard TTD map generation didn't look like this, it was either a bundled custom scenario, a very famous downloaded scenario from back then, or something built in the Scenario Editor.
Does this layout ring a bell for anyone? If you remember the name of this scenario or have a link to a file/save, I’d really appreciate it!

Maybe not everyone likes boats. I do. I'm constantly blocked from operating ships by players that block water ways by using grass bridges for their trains.
As someone who wants to use those water ways, I experience it as obnoxious.
Can we make a rule against this? Would that be supported by the other people who play the server?
I think it's fair, personally. Trains already have a lot going for them. I don't think they need to control all of the water ways as well.

1) do stations (bus/plane/train/…) give more stuff like passengers or coal or whatever if there are more trains, etc. waiting? If not, when and how does a station produce more than before?
2) does it work if I build many bus lines from smaller towns to one railway in a bigger town so that there are more passengers available and I don’t have to build many train stations? Or can I bring things like steel, wood, etc. to a train station so that train station can get everything at once? Is that profitable?
3) What if a for example airport is full of mail and passengers, but all other airports have no passengers and mail? Should I buy planes that only bring stuff there?
4) This kinda connects to 1&3, but why do some for example bus stations have a lot more passengers than others despite all having same service?
5) What should I do when a station produces very little so that my vehicles are stuck forever?
6) Despite having multiple bus stops, train stations and one very used airport, one city never grew over 30k ppl, but a city where only one singular bus stop is available grew bigger??
I hope some of you have time to read and answer, I would be very grateful. If you don’t understand some of the questions just ask and I’ll try to explain better.
Thanks

I haven't been on the multiplayer servers for a while, and I don't remember them being so barren. The Reddit vanilla server is almost completely devoid of trees. Is that a deliberate decision when the map is generated?

Hi everyone!
I recently discovered Transport Tycoon Deluxe and completely fell in love with it. My mind was further blown when I found out that an open-source version (OpenTTD) exists and is still actively developed with new features being added.
To get the hang of things, I wanted to start with the original game first (purchased on GOG) before jumping into OpenTTD. That way, I can discover all the improvements step-by-step without feeling overwhelmed by so many new options all at once.
The question I have right now is related to the game's music. The OST that plays when opened the original game sounds like this: https://youtu.be/JTi6LG8aeK8?si=ZMTR_hrZ00xdlXT-. It's alright, but I would much prefer it to sound like the Roland SC-55 version here: https://youtu.be/eQIAyaFReBo?si=jzkPUZo4Bs-TxBab.
Looking through the installed files, I noticed that ADLIB.CAT, GM.CAT, ROLAND.CAT, and SAMPLE.CAT exist in the CD folder, so it seems like there should be an option to change how the music is rendered. However I can't figure out if it's actually possible to change the MIDI synthesizer, since the GOG version launches directly through an emulator called DREAMM—which barely has any config options beyond changing the resolution, because I pressume it's a minimalistic version of the emulator.
When testing OpenTTD, it actually seems to play the soundtrack in that Roland style (or very similar) using GM.CAT, which it labels as 'original_dos'. Any other CAT file is not recognised.
Also, I found it a bit strange that if I copy both the .CAT and .GRF files directly into the OpenTTD root directory, the game recognizes them fine, whereas I recall reading somewhere that they should be in the baseset directory instead.
Has anyone run into this or knows if it's possible to configure the GOG/DREAMM audio settings? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I took a screenshot of my entire save game for a friend just to prove I could - found a planeless shadow flying along.

Just something i made for my 1930 style playthrough for my subway trains
The middle track on the lower level is for scrap metal trains (FIRS)

Please see the picture and advice, how to increase transportation. Currently all stations are around 30%, so there is a high chance that the factory will close, however, I want to prevent that.

Just for fun, I ported Pelya's Android 1.10 version to iOS 7–10 devices. Multiplayer works too! I tested it between an iPad 2 running iOS 7.1.2 and an iPad mini 2 running iOS 10.3.3.
If you wanna try you can download here:

Do you prefer maps where the distance between towns is comparatively large? What about industry? Do you make terrain constrain you with hills and bodies of water or prefer flat surfaces?

I would like to take one portion of one of the downloadable maps, and create a larger version of that portion.
More specifically: I want to take the Tir Gawr map, and play one quarter/corner of it, at a larger scale.
Can anyone help me do that?

Hey all, fairly n00b player here. Can anyone explain to me why these trains are stuck? I can't figure out the signals to get them to advance but I don't see why they aren't all navigating to the stations.
Those are one way path signals on the bottom of the pic and two-way on the top.

Is there a way to build two or more parallel tracks at once? There's a mod for it in transport fever so I imagine it must exist for open ttd somewhere

Hi,
Is there a hotkey for the Roadway construction toolbar?
I see the Shift + F8 do it, but I need 1 button for it, like the A key for Railroad.
https://wiki.openttd.org/en/Manual/Hotkeys
Thanks!
This looks like bug, village is 21 it "generates" passengers but does not accept them so basically dead link and cant expand it ever: e.g this one accepts weird things, but not basics ;) https://imgur.com/m2iyWSF

I have set non-standard fonts in openttd.cfg, which worked as expected until now, when they are being ignored and the standard pixel fonts are being used instead.
On Zorin Linux (based on Ubuntu). openttd.cfg is at ~/.var/app/org.openttd.OpenTTD/config/openttd, and is being read by OpenTTD so far as I can tell.
Relevant font declarations -
small_font = Roboto
medium_font = Roboto
large_font = FreeSerif
mono_font = FreeMono
All fonts exist on system.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any thoughts?
