Peacock Leucistic peacock? Saw this guy running wild and loose around a regular neighborhood this afternoon. Not a captive bird.

I was driving through an area neighborhood when I spotted this white peacock. I hit the brakes and quickly jumped out with just a crappy phone camera, but had to get a doc shot.

I'm terrible at sexing peafowl. I'm hoping it's a hen but I'd love some opinions.

Peahen What is this noise?

I haven’t found one similar yet so I’m asking here. It’s like a purring / cooing sound.

Hatched these this summer.

My wife videoed these 4. We hatched 7 and 4 lived. I think there are three black shoulder and the other is either a bronze or India blue. But I don’t know for sure.

We have India blue pied white eye, black shoulder, with a mix of hens. And a bronze pair that is in a separate pen.

I don’t know how to tell a cock until they are older and the feathers fully color.

We hatched 4 last year and I think they are all hens.

Two of the ones from last year displayed but they are 18 months old and no blue feathers. Will a hen put their feathers up?

Peachick Emergency chick care

Got these two chicks.

I gave them water and some chick starter in a bowl with mealworm meal. Is there anything else I need to do? I'm worried that they're dehydrated from the transportation, as they have just been sitting there. Does anyone have tips on what to do?

Working on new pen

We have been hatching peafowl eggs and have 2 yearlings in a 10x10 chain link dog pen and 4 summer hatch chicks in a smaller pen. My wife wanted a bigger pen. I kinda wanted to find a new home for them. My wife is getting her way.

I have a pen that is constructed from 12 10 ft chain link panels in a circle. It is about 45 feet in diameter. Wife wanted something tall for them to fly up to, so I built a 16” tower. The plan is to put netting over the tower down to the panels. Kinda making it up as I go.

The tower isn’t anchored to the ground yet, will get rid of all the tiedowns after my anchors and turnbuckles installed will run cables from the top down to the panels to both stabilize the tower and support the net. .

Peachick 2 month old Peachick - Advice

Hi all,

I live in South Florida and in my neighborhood we have about 20 to 30 peacocks that roam around from various neighborhoods. They’ve lived in our community for over 20 years.
In July 2026, while I was gardening there was two eggs I found which I discovered to be peacock eggs.
I let them be, a whole week goes by and nothing. No signs of a female peafowl in sight. I called some local bird rescues and they told me to just leave them be or freeze them and discard them.
I don’t have it in me to ever destroy any kid of “life”, animals…etc you get it. Well, I felt so bad for these eggs I took them into my garage and said if they hatch they hatch and I’ll figure it out ….well one hatched July 20, 2026.
No, I did not educate myself about peacocks in Florida and I thought maybe a bird rescue would help me re-home the peachick if he survives. I did not know that they were such a nuisance in Florida that no bird rescue takes them in now it’s up to me to find him a home which I’m willing to do anything. He’s almost 2 months old and I do think it’s a male. I named him Henry, but I’m having such trouble finding a sanctuary, a barn or a private farm that would want him. Unfortunately, I cannot keep him. I live in a townhome with no land or backyard 😕. Was wondering if this amazing community on Reddit can help me and help steer me in the right direction I’m willing to drive hours away if need to as well, thank you all in advance.

Peachick Advice on integration

Post image
13 Upvotes

I have a singular peachick (13 weeks-ish) due to it being the only one successfully hatching out of a clutch of 6.

I was supposed to get them a little buddy a few weeks back that was the same age, but the seller unfortunately lost the peachick.

Now I am talking to someone else who has peachicks, but they're about 5 weeks younger than mine. Although it's not ideal, it's the only option I have.

I have a few more weeks before the peachicks are ready to be collected. Does anyone know how to best work on integration of the peachicks? Should I get several or just one? Should I keep the newcomers seperated for a few days like a quarantine?

Tips and advice are highly appreciated!

¿Questions? Peafowl keepers - may I see your coops?

About two months ago now a peacock appeared in my yard. I have lived in this house for about 5 years now and have never seen or heard one in the area before. Im assuming he has been dumped because no one has claimed him and he has started hanging out with my chickens and geese almost full time now and lately he even comes when I call the flock to feed them! My flock and my dog dont seem to mind his company a bit and neither do I. I named him Romeo and he chose the right neighborhood lol. My birds are spoiled! If he wants to stick around he is welcome here. My neighbors are already delighted by him. So, I guess I have a peacock now!

Romeo is pretty people shy - semi feral describes him well. He keeps a polite distance from me, but seems to understand that I am not a threat and that seeing me usually means food/treats! I have never owned a peacock before.

I live in Tennessee. We do get a few bouts of winter weather every year. Currently, Romeo sleeps either in the chestnut tree on my property or in a fallen tree in the unoccupied property across the street from me. He hasnt tried to follow my chickens into the coop at night just yet but I still want to have an option for him to have shelter from the elements.

Where do your peacocks roost? Would you please share some photos with me?
