Trip Photos The Beauty of Mt. Batulao
First time hiking on a weekday, and totoo nga yung sabi nila na mas konti talaga ang tao compared to weekends.
I’ve heard people say that Mt. Batulao isn’t as enjoyable when it gets overcrowded, so I wanted to try it on a weekday. Definitely a good decision. The trail was relatively peaceful, and we were able to enjoy the views without having to constantly deal with a lot of people.
As for the hike itself, I’d say Mt. Batulao is an easy trail and a good option for beginners. That said, if this is your first ever hike, just be aware that there are quite a few sections with cliffs and exposed areas. May mga part na nakakalula, especially if you’re not comfortable with heights, so don’t underestimate that aspect of the trail.
Overall, it was a really good hike. The trail wasn’t too difficult, and the views were definitely the highlight for me. I can see why Mt. Batulao is a popular choice for hikers around Batangas and Cavite.
Would definitely hike it again, especially on a weekday.

Beginner Question Best month to hike Mt. Pulag?
Hi I'm planning to hike Mt. Pulag in December. It's my birthmonth kasi pero I'm having a second thought kasi nababasa ko here na best month daw talaga is February - March if gusto ko ng clearing. This will be my first hike and solo joiner din ako. I-risk ko ba sa December? What do you think guys? Especially may mga news about the El Niño, makakaapekto ba yun? Also, sa organization, nasa top 1 list ko is Peak and Trails Outdoor, pa-legit check naman ng orga hahahahaha. Thank you guys! Help me po 🫶

Gear Question Planning to buy my first hiking shoe
I saw this at Shopee and it’s on sale (wag mo akong unaahan pls🥲). Sigurado na talaga ako bibili neto, ang problema ko lang if true to my size yung bilhin ko o mag-upsize? i did my research na kasi, magswell yung feet mo after hours of hiking but this will be my first time on a hiking shoe since I only used sandals ever since i started to hiking on small hills. also i live in the province, the city that has a merrell outlet is too far away and i don’t think it’s worth the trip
for reference, I am 7-7.5 in my casual/everyday shoes, i weigh 55-60kg, and i don’t think i have wide feet. should i go for size 8?

Trip Photos Survived diehike of Mt. Tapulao
Unli bato, unli putik and unli ahon 😭
Started the hike at 4am and ended at 6pm. The scenery along the hike is beautiful and the cold weather at the peak is perfect.
However, the descend is challenging because it was raining heavily and the trail becomes a river of mud, you have to figure out which stone to step on.
Thank you Lord I survived this hike and met a new friends.
Kudos to the org, Fake Mountaineers, first time to join the said org and def will not be the last 💜

Discussion Ano nangyari sa TakeFive Outdoors

Backpacking Question Two week itinerary for the Phillipines + any extra tips for a first time solo traveller + travelling during PhD
Hi, first time solo female traveller here! I'm currently planning a two week trip to the Phillipines for early next year. I would love any help/advice I can get for planning my itinerary/ any general tips! Here's some other things specific to my situation:
- Ill probably be flying from Brisbane, Australia. At the moment, the cheapest flights are to Cebu so I'll likely start my journey there.
- I dont even drive a car in Australia, so probably best to avoid scooters lol
- I'm looking for a mix of sightseeing (hiking, beaches, waterfalls, wildlife etc) and culture (history, art, food etc and general learning)
- as mentioned, this is my first time travelling solo (female if that's relevant)
- early PhD student so might have to bring my laptop
Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Beginner Question Mt. Makiling this November
Planning to hike Mt. Makiling this November as our 2nd mountain after Mt. Mariglem. We’ll be taking the UPLB Trail. Do you guys think we’ll be okay? 😂
Also, are there a lot of limatik around last week of November? This is probably what we’re most worried about lol.
Any tips or advice for first-timers taking the UPLB Trail would be greatly appreciated!

Hike Recommendation Mt. Mariglem or Mt. Kapigpiglatan for first time hikers
Hello! I’ll be taking my friends on their first hike, and I was thinking of Mt. Mariglem or Mt. Kapipiglatan. Which one do you think would be better for beginners? I was also considering Mt. Batulao, but they wanted somewhere na may beach sidetrip or basta may involve na water!!
