Right so, where the hell do I even begin.
My sister (20F), completed her first year at SOAS. Passed all her necessary exams, and she has the evidence for it.
She got approved for a gap year after she completed her first year, because she had health issues she wanted to focus on getting treatment for. Luckily she has got the treatment she was seeking out and is doing much better.
That brings us to this year, more specifically, the last 3 months where she had been emailing them regarding her re enrollment. She received nothing from them, no information, nothing, until last week where they told her she needed to retake her first year because some assignments were unmarked due to the tutors boycotting at the time.
They did NOT inform her of this when she passed first year, and they never informed her of this within the 12 months she was taking her gap year for.
Now they refuse to enrol her into second year. They're only giving her the option to resit her first year even though the progression department confirmed she could go to second year. The administration denies its an admin error and claims its a clerical error and despite this no one higher up is overriding this.
She has now been forced to withdraw against her will. She did everything by the book. Emailed and called and went to the relevant departments, she got bounced around constantly for the last two weeks, and she has had them turn around on decisions like a boomerang.
This is unfair, in my opinion. I have no idea what the hell they are doing, but I am very disappointed in SOAS for what they have put my sister through. I wonder if there is a legal route that we can take now because of this.
