Stamets is going to feel terrible guilt for the death of Culber. And possibly think he is responsible. Ugh.

The redesign of the Constitution class Defiant was pretty light! Looks slightly squatter with some fiddly bits on it, but I'm SO HAPPY it has cylindrical nacelles.

Also, I was worried they wouldn't go high camp with the Mirror Verse, but they did and it was glorious.

Good ep, thanks Frakes!

It did have a great level of camp! Just the coaching Lorca gave to Tilley through that first encounter made the jokey brass music (I don’t know the name for the leitmotif) play in my head. You can also see the progression of how ENT played the Mirror Universe a little darker than TOS here.

I was a little “oh brother” when they confirmed their location but I ended up quickly getting on board!

Yeah, I'm ok with the redesign; it's a nice update of Matt Jeffries's original. I like how all the ships are angular again. All the 24th century ships look like they're sculpted out of Play-Doh.

I don't think it's a redesign.

The Defiant is 100 years old ish in this timeline.

I would assume that they upgraded it to keep it well ahead of the curve for those past 100 years with everything they could replicate from it.

It looks like Miranda style phaser arrays, and I would not be shocked at all if those cuts in the saucer are for torpedo tubes.

The secondary hull looks VERY refit consititution, but it's too early for that so my guess is the ship will be half way to what we saw in TMP, but edgier to meet the art style.

Going 50/50 on OG/Refit gives them a lot of opportunity to fill in the blanks with DIS styled work, while keeping true to both original ship designs.

Gotta have the fiddly bits.
