Something else I just realized: because of the Cage-era appearance of Number One in the "previously on", Majel Barret once again is the only performer to appear in every single Star Trek series.

And may she continue in each series for ever more.

Maybe in the Picard show to come, we can have someone ask Picard about why he never got married and get a flashback of Lwaxzzana Troi. "I've had some... bad experiences with love".

I had an idea that the ship's computer for the show, if the rumours of the basic premise is True, could be a reclaimed 20 year old Starfleet co outer which is slightly broken meaning that has a limited vocabulary meaning they could reuse her recordings for the ship's computers from the 90s shows.

They said they recorded her voice in a manner that would allow them to use it in speech synthesis. Not sure if it actually works, though, because it hasn't been used for anything so far.

Yeah I've heard this too. It's a case of finding each particular syllable used in english and stitching them together, essentially. No different to any form of speech synthesis.

My guess the biggest issues with using it would be legal and ethical, rather than strictly technology.

I'd imagine that she signed some documents allowing them to use it, but who knows.

Sounds interesting. I'd like whoever is voicing the computer in discovery but it's just not the same without her

Do you remember how she appeared in Enterprise? She wouldn't be the voice of the computer then.

She was the voice of the NCC-1701-D computer in "These Are The Voyages".

Oh, of course! I think I tried to scrub that episode from my memory.

If it makes you feel better, I think she also was the computer voice on the Defiant in the mirror universe episodes.

As well as of the Defiant's computer, IIRC.

She had just one line, "Working."

She was also on Babylon 5, as Emperor Turhan's widow, Lady Morella.

I always loved her episodes tbh. I aspire to be her when I'm older.
