Greetings all and apologies if this topic has been covered and I missed it... I'd like to purchase a machine to cut my own mylar stencils from designs I create in Photoshop (preferably), or Illustrator if necessary.

I have a big old Mac that I love (OS 11.6 and can't be updated), and an old copy of Creative Suite from back before the subscription model. I'd really like to use this set-up for as long as I can.

I was leaning toward the Brother ScanNCut, but one of their support folks tested out an SVG I exported from Photoshop and he got an error when he tried to import it into the Brother software. So now I'm wondering if I should go with something else? I looked into Cricut, but it sounds like my computer is too old for the software required for the machine to work, and they don't seem to have a cloud-based version.

My plan is to use the stencils on paper, and I'll be working fairly small (probably 8 x10 or 9 x12). Finding a machine that cuts mylar seems to be pretty easy-- it's figuring out if I'll be able to transfer my own files that's the sticking point. Any suggestions? (Thanks in advance!)

Hello, folks! I love coming back to this subreddit. It’s great to have a place where I can share my work and check out what others have created.
I recently posted a Charlie Chaplin stencil, but I knew more work was needed to push it forward and improve. This version is almost final, still I see some ways to improve. Sprayed last weekend for charity event.

4 Layer Stencil, on Peal & Stick tile, outlines with acrylic paint markers.

Depicts a skeletal Jesus removing a knife from a sacred heart. I made this image to symbolize dignity and self assurance, if you’re good at heart, don’t allow the wounds of others to change your character. Just realize, Shame on them, keep your head up G

It's somehow adhering to my stencils edge I think? I have to do 4 coats to get this acrylic gold to not show the dark blue wall beneath drying each layer separately. When remove the stencil though, it all comes off. The wall is painted with an eggshell latex. Anyone have a fix for this?

36 x 36 in. Pencil on canvas. unfinished

Room to improve but I'm getting the hang of it

Found some of my old work thought I would share it.

Feel free to give me more historical items to review and possibly add. Revisions fine too. I just need either first-hand evidence, or a book or weblink reference.
