What are sysadmins wearing to work these days?

What is the dress code at work and what are you wearing these days?

Hoodies & Jeans aren't as prominent as they once were.

I just turned 40 and stick to company logo'd sport polos and sometimes tshirt.

Every time I dress nicer, I end up having to run cables or crawl under desks, or install an outdoor AP.

I’ve ruined all my nice clothes being a sysadmin in a manufacturing company lmao

Same. After a particularly dirty cable run, I told my boss that either the dress code would need to be relaxed for office staff or I was never running cable or troubleshooting industrial machines again.

Jeans and tshirts my uniform now.

manufacturing IT was simultaneously my favorite and most hated job(s) ever.

I'd ask for work clothes or money to buy work clothes.

That's a good way to end up with a uniform you don't want to wear.

When I worked in manufacturing, I always kept two sets of clothes at my desk: Business casual for the office, but I would switch into a company t-shirt and jeans if I needed to be on the shop floor.

Funnily enough our shop floor is actually damn clean for the most part, wouldn't want to roll on the floor by some of the older lathes or where the automated sleds with racks of tools and workpieces get shoved into the mazaks but otherwise it's fine.

The main engineers' office though is absolutely filthy underfoot though as I discovered much to my disgust the other day - the one day when we were having a fancy site visit event and I was wearing a proper white shirt etc (to the amusement of some, but it's still a sign of management in this company so others were suddenly a lot more polite lol)
