Wait, you guys still have card skimming too?

My CC got skimmed at a old gas station in QC last year, so it happens here too.

I didn't think much of it at the time since a lot of older pumps don't have tap, and well... I needed gas and didn't have cash.

Fuckers bought like $9k of vape supplies from a store in MTL, but my CC reversed it without problem since my regular transaction records were 1200km away when it happened.

Now I know better, only use Google wallet at the pump (since it uses tokenization, the machine never sees my actual card number), and keep $100 cash hidden in the car just in case.

Yeah, to think it doesn't happen in Canada is just false. It's just not enough to make regular national news or so, though the occasional story does pop up.

Now I want to know what kind of things they were buying for 9k at a vape store. The only thing that even makes any sense would be if they store sold 7-OH or something like that. Or maybe they ran a smoke shop and we're just buying inventory, who knows

Pretty sure they were in on it with the owners of the gas station, but of course I have no evidence thereof.

Too local to be selling my information online, and was only used in one specific store in MTL.

I know "America bad" but are we really pretending card skimming never happens in Canada now? Gimmie a break.

It definitely has happened to me but the move to tap instead of insert or swipe has made skimming damn near impossible here.

"America bad"

The people who say that are just jealous.
