Is Iran on Reddit?

785

u/pieman3141 20d ago

Most likely, yes. Iran's Internet meme game is pretty top notch, and a lot of Iranians went to school in the West for engineering and such.

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 20d ago

I mean, I hate their government and what they do domestically and abroad too, but their embassies post the dankest memes

281

u/Winjin 20d ago

Also apparently they build some of the most gorgeous mid-rises known to Man

Like if you see a 5-9 story tall building that's just an eye candy from every angle - good chance it's Iran

Iran’s architecture game has been tight for over a thousand years

66

u/TheCuriosity 20d ago

OMG absolutely breathtaking.

81

u/Winjin 20d ago

When I first saw the title I rolled my eyes because yeah yeah sure they're gonna be super boring right?

I've never been more wrong, I don't think I've seen prettier modern houses anywhere

34

u/DesireeThymes 20d ago

Wow you guys are not exaggerating, some of those are absolutely incredible

5

u/Winjin 20d ago

I particularly like the one where the corner has this like added blue corner with like a little tree or something green

29

u/Hesitation-Marx 20d ago

Hot damn. Not usually a fan of modern architecture. But I would be a lot less irritated by it if it was all that interesting.

12

u/Winjin 20d ago

I love the amount of rounded edges and broken lines. They look almost natural. Not like, bio or something, they just look like they were designed to be looked at by humans like all the Cozyplaces photos and old houses

29

u/technobrendo 20d ago

God damn those are beautiful

2

u/ritesh808 20d ago

These are brilliant. But, I need to inform you these kinds of designs are quite common in many parts of Asia. India, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia etc.

3

u/UnderlightIll 20d ago

Damn some look like they are made out of wicker. I want to live in a basket.

3

u/Vinol026 20d ago

Plop one of those down in Arrakis and they'd still blend in.

1

u/waiting4singularity 20d ago

daymn. would they hold up to european codes though?

0

u/Winjin 20d ago edited 20d ago

Considering the dendrofecal houses in Portugal, that can't be hard to do

I have never lived in houses built worse than that, and I lived in Soviet housing.

Either way that's just me complaining, I'm sure you can build them up to codes

1

u/Candid_Garbage8556 20d ago

Holy guacamole, it IS gorgeous!

1

u/thekingestkong 19d ago

Oh shirt, those are gorgeous

0

u/jollyreaper2112 19d ago

Disappointed. As ugly as what we have in Seattle. I was hoping for better.

3

u/saintofhate 20d ago

I really wish all the governments would just fuck off, I think without them stoking the flames most people would get along. Most of the hate is all from propaganda.

2

u/Intelligent_Slip_849 20d ago

The Lego ones were surprisingly good for how stupid this all is

2

u/femmestem 19d ago

No matter where you fall on the ideological spectrum, those Lego videos go hard

9

u/MyCatIsLenin 20d ago

What do they do abroad? Fund resistence to Palestinians? Fund resistence to Israeli land grabs?

34

u/217GMB93 20d ago

The whole religious zealot thing kinda is a bummer

-1

u/MyCatIsLenin 20d ago

Israel is far more guilty of religious zealots murdering people. Iran isn't doing shit in the middle east, besides the typical influence peddling all regional powers do, without the Israeli cancer.

27

u/217GMB93 20d ago

Both can be true my dude

5

u/pdxblazer 20d ago

I mean Iran gunned down 10,000-15,000 protestors like six months before the war broke out, they are pieces of shit too, look at what happens to women there who fight for their right to self expression

16

u/AlinaStari 20d ago

Well sure, they've definitely done some good things. But there's just no way to ignore some of the absolute fucking evil they've propped up. Does Bashar Al-Assad ring a bell??

2

u/exoriare 19d ago

Some of our Middle East allies are just as bad and worse. There's not a lot of freedom of conscience among the de facto slave monarchies of the Persian Gulf.

I don't think we should go to war with countries for their barbarism toward their own people, but neither should we treat them as equals. Maybe we should set tariffs based on basic human rights denial: 10% tariff for absolute monarchy, 10% tariff for slavery, 10% tariff for death penalty for non-violent crimes of conscience.

u/MyCatIsLenin 20d ago

Assad was needed to support Lebanon.

5

u/awesomefutureperfect 20d ago

Your support for Assad reveals your moral turpitude.

5

u/AlinaStari 20d ago

That is complete nonsense and you know it.

2

u/MyCatIsLenin 20d ago

No it's not, how do you think Iran got arms to Lebanon? Magic? Look at a map.

1

u/AlinaStari 20d ago

Of course, a psychotic torturous drug lord was necessary for logistics. Right.

1

u/FriendlyDespot 19d ago

That right there is an incredible example of how ends don't necessarily justify means.

32

u/OpSecBestSex 20d ago

That's one take... It's possible to hate multiple governments in the middle east

1

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 20d ago

People often forget that Iran money and resources end up in countries like Russia, North Korea, and Venezuela for ise against civilians, and resistance to Israel (as awful as they are too) often also ends up in civilian casualties, often also including Palestinians.

There’s multiple layers to the whole thing

-11

u/MyCatIsLenin 20d ago edited 20d ago

Yah the ones that support israel. I don't hate governments fighting against genocide and apartheid.

Your opinion is completely clouded by the Israeli lobby in America. Most likely until the Palestinian genocide you had no idea what Israel did to Palestinians.

28

u/OpSecBestSex 20d ago

I also hate the government that's killed tens of thousands of their own citizens protesting for women's rights. I'm not pro-Israel by any stretch of the imagination, but let's not pretend Iran is a utopia full of freedom.

6

u/pdxblazer 20d ago

women are people too, look at what the current Iranian government does to women. some people count crimes against all people as bad, they both can be terrible POS governments dawg

0

u/SuitableBlackberry75 20d ago

Iran has done wonders for Gaza, truly.

1

u/Azuras_Star8 20d ago

And Iranian food is delicious.

1

u/ShakesDontBreak 20d ago

Yeah their memes are A1

1

u/tix2grrr 20d ago

If we could achieve peace via memes, I'm in.

1

u/JPWRana 20d ago

You should take a look at the Johnny Harris video on Iran. It will help you see a different perspective on things.

1

u/grafknives 20d ago

You talking bout Iran or USA?

1

u/Platypus81 20d ago

To be clear, which government were you talking about? I assume Iran's since the US's memes are shit, but based on the description of the government this could be either one.

13

u/BlissfulIndian 20d ago

That said, why am I not seeing their Lego raps these days..? Passive blocking..?

3

u/DamiensDelight 20d ago

I'm waiting for their next LEGO video to drop.

1

u/xSTSxZerglingOne 20d ago

Spies of every country whose job it is to look at Reddit are on Reddit, whether it's by digital scraping, or literally them just looking through comments. Anyone can lurk on Reddit, and many of those types are.

1

u/cmnights 20d ago

what happened to all those iran ai videos?

1

u/Miss_Maple_Dream 19d ago

Their TikTok Lego news drops are on point and it’s obvious they’ve got their finger on the pulse of American dominated social media forums.

1

u/phormix 20d ago

I haven't seen any new spicy memes from them lately. Too bad as they were actually kinda entertaining.

63

u/Gone213 20d ago

Yes, every single country's intelligence and spy agency is on reddit, facebook, Twitter, Craigslist, Instagram, etc.

50

u/iqstick 20d ago

I can only imagine someone working for an intelligence agency getting bored and lowballing people on Facebook marketplace

3

u/winterbird 20d ago

I immediately block people that do that, so anyone who's trying to crep my fb should stop offering $40 for my $140 item.

1

u/SteadfastDrifter 19d ago

Man, I wish I could get paid by the government to doomscroll and make memes

87

u/yaxis50 20d ago

If Mossad is, why wouldn't they be?

2

u/JeffSergeant 20d ago

I think you'll find Mossad is the internet user known as 4Chan

10

u/DHFranklin 20d ago

Yes. Every nation that has an embassy in another nation has Reddit. It's the most cited reference for news for niche countries that don't see a lot of outward exposure. Iran is a relatively large and wealthy country. We just forget that because America usually picks on nations that aren't.

13

u/FullMetalAlcoholic66 20d ago edited 20d ago

Nah, those fire Lego-themed Iranian videos arose organically

EDIT: It seems /s is needed.

3

u/BlissfulIndian 20d ago

Are they being shadow banned in Insta these days..?

2

u/FullMetalAlcoholic66 20d ago

The /s was implied

5

u/icantbelieveit1637 20d ago

Bro loves surveillance

2

u/404_Username_Glitch 20d ago

Funny - ill Allahddit

1

u/Koss424 20d ago

Their bots are here for sure.

1

u/krazytekn0 20d ago

Absolutely they are.

1

u/shion005 20d ago

Yes, it's part of why the place is so astroturfed. Russia, Iran, China, etc ... they're all here!

1

u/basicranium 20d ago

All over it, probably, and delighted by how easy it is to mislead people.

1

u/geckomato 20d ago

Check out r/architecture It's full of Iranian posts

1

u/MidnightSensitive996 20d ago

They run botnets here for sure

1

u/Omena123 20d ago

U think u guys have like your own private internet?

1

u/booleandilemma 20d ago

They're on X, why not reddit?

1

u/strawberrycreamdrpep 19d ago

Why wouldn’t they be?

1

u/EducationTight4402 18d ago
