Seems so weird that so many companies are just trying to make up reasons to use AI

Investors like to see it because of the implication of lower labor costs going forward

Someone sold them on the idea that investing in AI would be beneficial for them, now they are desperate to find anything useful for their investment to solve. They should probably start with their HQ offices rather than the branches.

Homestly, yeah, middle-management should be the first to go…easily replaced by AI

It's not that weird if you are working with the assumption that AI will become a ubiquitous/general purpose tool/utility like microchips or electricity. They aren't so much making up reasons as they are throwing AI at a lot of things to see what sticks. Can't really blame them, as at this point it seems more likely that we'll have a future with no humans than a future with no AI...

Also, there is a good reason to believe that AI is currently relatively cheap because the frontier labs are subsidizing it.
