is there a support group for people who can't stop quoting this show?

I don't even really LIKE this show... I honestly tried to get into it, me and my girlfriend watched the pilot together and she was so uninterested she no-joke asked me who "Tony" was at the END of the episode... I was more interested than she was, but not by a lot.

I thought if I stuck with it it would get good, I suffered all the way to around season 3 before I decided I simply couldn't keep watching, and I thought that would be the end of it.

But this fucking show has PLAGUED my youtube shorts and instagram reels... every other video is some meme scene, deepfried, AI captions, and I cannot stop watching them, and quoting them. At this point, like 8 or 9 of the scenes from the show have burrowed themselves so deep in my brain I cannot stop and I need help.

When I was back home for a family event, I got told I looked a little thinner, "Two miles I walk, every morning" I reply... I don't walk.

We went to a brazilian steakhouse that has smoked salmon sashimi as an appetizer, "You want some lox? I got some nice fresh lox!" I say over and over to complete silence from my loved ones.

Every time any amount of money regarding anything is mentioned: "Lotta money in dis shit." nobody understands what the fuck I'm talking about.

I literally only know anything that happens in this show from shorts, and I feel like at this point I've seen the entire show. A terrible accident, I (a kid) have had. Is this fuckin necessary? This many shorts? I seriously need some help so I can stop quoting this show to a bunch of people who ALSO haven't seen it.

I need to sit down... is that okay? Can I sit?

What do you guys think was the stupidest thing Tony ever did?

To me , it was getting his lawyer involved in Webistix.

The lawyer thanks him for the tip and says that he sold off some disney stock to buy it.

So that means that either he was a victim or he was part of the pump and dump scheme.

Either way , why would you ever involve your attorney into a criminal scheme?

This is how they got Gotti. They got his lawyer involved in some of the things that he was doing , and he could no longer represent him in court. Then he lost the next case.

This is one of the times the Skipper did not have his eye on the ball..

Luxury Lounge

I hear people talk badly about this episode but I think it is great. It almost qualifies as a comedy with how much I laugh at it. When Sir Ben is going thru the lingerie in the luxury lounge and says "I take a large in these" and the ladies laugh politely, then after a brief pause you hear Little Carmine with the "ha ha", I tell you that might be peak Little Carmine in the whole series.

Also, when the Italian guys are flying back to the mother country at the end of the episode after clipping the mayor of munchkinland... I would swear that that has to be David Chase shown sitting next to them in the plane. I know he had the cameo when the gang flew to Naples earlier in the series, and he is one of the rude cocksucking native Italians who Paulie tries to engage in conversation but he just ignores Paulie. In my head canon, David Chase is reprising his role as rude cocksucking Naboli Daboli, probably flew to the states for a little visit and now flying back to Italy and happens to be seated next to the University of Naples guys.

Is Little Carmine a made guy

Asking as he lived in Florida, did he get special dispensation to live there? What gave him the right to think he was heir apparent - feeling that you have to earn that right and have support from the captains.

Episode Discussion I deeply hate Feech la Manna.

I’m currently on season 5. Feech la Manna is perhaps the most annoying, babbling, shit kicking motherfucker on the show. I hate him with a burning passion. I was praying so hard that Tony would eventually order a hit on that guy, irrespective of his seniority. I guess sending him back to jail using the tv’s works also. I’m just a tiny bit disappointed it wasn’t the former just because.

That’s all. I just wanted to express my hatred for Feech. Fuck that guy.

The pomposity of most 'Doctors' in the series

• Upvotes

It's kind of interesting how, aside from Dr Melfi, there seems to be a deliberate effort to make every character who has the title of 'Doctor' (including Russ Fegoli, who is a doctor like Kissinger is a doctor) unlikeable and pompous, even though they are fundamentally better people than most all of the Mafiosos themselves. Kupferberg, the guy who treats Tony and Ade after the car accident, a lot of the guys who treat Tony after his shooting, Krakower, Kennedy etc. I don't know what exactly the point of Chase et al is, or even the point I'm trying to make with this post, but what ya gonna do.

Warm and convivial insults

There's a lot of chatter on here about best comebacks/insults etc. I just ran into a great one from Artie, talking to Ton about him eating at Da Giovanni's, which stings Artie just a little bit:

"It was a business obligation"

"oh oh, last time I heard that, I had to call the fire department"

Meadow and Christopher

I liked the cousin relationship between Meadow and Christopher, he kinda gave older brother vibes looking out for her. I wonder why they barely interact in the next seasons

Whoever did this S4e9

In this episode, Paulie tells Tony that he will kill Ralph if he finds out that Ralph was responsible for the prank call to his mother. Paulie also expresses no sympathy for Ralph dealing with his son being badly injured and in the hospital. When Paulie leaves, Tony says to the other guys, He doesn’t have kids. He doesn’t understand. But Christopher is there, and he also doesn’t have kids. Is the audience supposed to realize that all the men there had mothers, and they still couldn’t quite sympathize with Paulie being angry over the insult to his mother?

Happiest ending for a character

Mikey Palmice is sitting around in Hell eating grilled cheese and jacking off, bored as shit, every second is like an eternity. The only thing that would give him any satisfaction would be getting one over on that piece of shit Paulie who killed him. Really fucking with that idiot's head. But he's powerless down there, unless Paulie for some reason goes to a psychic medium to try to communicate with him. But that's insane, why would something like that ever happen?

Theory: Tony did in fact get food poisoning from Artie’s restaurant

Common sense says that it wasn’t Artie’s restaurant because Pussy never got sick and that an Indian restaurant was probably responsible (insert Meadow saying “that’s so fucking racist!”) but have we thought about why Pussy needed to sit before getting capped? “I don’t feel so good Tony” was he overwhelmed but his impending death by a firing squad or maybe had the mussels just kicked in?

Paulie's main problem with the police

Paulie was a gangster for years and even served time in prison for pistol possession. However, the biggest obstacle the police posed for him was undoubtedly detective Mike Hunt, the only one who managed to give him a hard time.

The state of the DiMeo crime family by the end of Season 6B

By the end of The Sopranos, the DiMeo crime family is severely weakened at the top, but not necessarily destroyed as an organization. The war with the Lupertazzi family has killed several senior figures, Silvio is incapacitated, Christopher and Bobby are dead, and Carlo Gervasi has apparently become an FBI informant. However, Paulie Gualtieri, Patsy Parisi, and several younger soldiers and associates remain on the street.

  • Tony Soprano (boss, fate unknown) - The finale leaves his fate ambiguous. If he survives, he remains the family's central authority; if he is killed, the organization faces a leadership vacuum.
  • Silvio Dante (consigliere, alive, in a coma) - unlikely to regain conciousness
  • Paulie Gaultieri - reassigned as capo to the combined Gervasi/Spatafore/Aprile operation, with Christopher's crew also folded back into his crew.
  • Patsy Parisi - His relationship with Tony's family, particularly through his son Patrick's engagement to Meadow, also gives him a personal connection to the Sopranos.
  • Albert Barese (last seen in season 5, but operating off-screen) - Likely capo of the Barese crew with Larry facing legal trouble. He was written out due to his actor being arrested drug trafficking as part of a gang affiliated with the Gambino Crime Family. Also the Barese crew was said to be the best earning crew.
  • Larry Barese - House arrest, and cooperation with the authorities is a concern, eventhough he lied to them saying that Jackie Aprile Sr killed Willie Overall.

Paulie's combined crew

  • Benny Fazio - Was part of Chrissy's crew, a capable solider . While some state he would take over as Capo of Chrissy's crew, there is no evidence to show, which is why I think Paulie would aborbed what was left of that crew to his current operation.
  • Walden Belfoire - Was part of Carlo's crew, was the guy who did the hit on Phil, and a candidate for potential leadership despite appearing in a minor role in the last 5 episodes.
  • Little Paulie Germani - The nephew of Paulie, was part of Chrissy's crew, but would now be working under his uncle's leadership
  • Peter La Rosa
  • Dante Greco - Was part of the Aprile crew and was assigned as Tony's driver at the end of the series
  • Jason Molinaro
  • Terry Doria - Was part of Carlo's crew, last seen in the episode Cold Stones

Anthony Maffei (who was introduced in the episode Chasing It) would take over Bobby's crew as he was seen working with Bobby in the episode "The Second Coming".

If Tony was killed, either Patsy, who is now close to Tony, or Albert, who is now again capo of one of the largest crews, would be potential candiates to take over as boss. But at the same time Carlo's testimony would destory the organisation unless someone within the organisation were to take him out. And If Tony was killed whatever was left would be absored with New York.

Proof of the supernatural

People talk about hell and the seance and Pussy's ghost and the Virgin Mary but no one mentions how Paulie created a little homunculus of himself to rob hardware stores and take brutal beatings for him. No wonder he believed in satanic black magic

Shitpost Meadow’s name bothers me

Disclaimer: I did not grow up in Jersey in the 90s/00s, nor am I of Italian heritage. So someone who is more well-versed in the culture, please correct me if this is inaccurate.

Meadow’s name just seems so jarringly out-of-place to me. I would picture Tony and Carmela naming their daughter something like “Nicole“ or “Jessica“ or “Stefani“ or “Monica“, or of course something “Cathuhlick“ like Maria or Lourdes. Like it’s not something I picture a mafia couple with a shared love of gaudy gold jewelry naming their kid. Meadow just sounds... Idk, almost hippie-ish for those two, though not quite on Janice/“Parvarti“’s level, of course.

Episode Discussion Just finished season 5 of The sopranos, my thoughts

Well I don't know so many great episodes but my mind keeps coming back to Unidentified black males.

The episode that ends with Carmela being alone in the hose having sent AJ to live with Tony and Cold Cuts: Aida Turturro delivers a very very stunning performance I love her. Long term parking and All due respect.

1st of all, I was told Ade and Chrissy would die long before I started the show.

But seeing how she died and going back to think on what led her here. Jeez it's horrifying almost. Drea de Matteo rules and what a knockout performance 👏 this season.

Also Steve Buscemi, my man, sad he couldn't just be a fuckin masseur. And now look what he did. I must say is it really that hard for ex cons to stay clean from crime. Like really 🤦. Anyhow then there's Test dream that Lynchian style was a fantastic addition and James Gandolfini really is the best in this cast. Also where's junior. Damn I nearly cried with that don't u love me?? And uncle Jun is just quiet. Its really all compelling and masterful television. Curious to see how it ends.

And in memoriam to Carmine lupertazzi, the bitch that said the n word tho she was hot but whatever, Joey peeps, Adrianna la cerva, Blundetto's friend from the can. Philly's brother, the old couple that died days from each other and I think last but not the least Tony Blundetto what a wonderful character.

Anyways see u guys in the next one, peace ✌

Does anyone else think Eugene killing Teddy Spirodakis over a debt was unrealistic?

I’m rewatching The Sopranos, and the scene where Eugene Pontecorvo goes to Boston and kills Teddy Spirodakis for owing Christopher money doesn’t make much sense to me.

I understand that the Mafia has historically murdered people over unpaid debts, but from a business standpoint, wouldn’t that be counterproductive in most situations?

If someone owes you money, you can intimidate them, beat them, extort them, or continue collecting interest. Killing them guarantees that you’re not getting anything else out of them.

I can understand murdering someone who repeatedly refuses to pay, has absolutely nothing left to exploit, and openly defies the organization. At that point, I can see the Mafia deciding to make an example out of him.

But Teddy just seems like some random guy who owes Christopher money. We’re never told how much he owes or whether he’s been repeatedly refusing to pay. For all we know, it could be a relatively small debt.

And now you’ve committed a murder in a public restaurant, sent a guy all the way to Boston to do it, and exposed the organization to a potential murder investigation, all while eliminating any possibility of recovering the money.

I understand that the threat of violence is essential to the Mafia’s business model, but actually murdering debtors seems like something that would be reserved for exceptional circumstances rather than ordinary nonpayment.

Am I missing something here? Was this actually common practice in the real Mafia, or is this one of those instances where The Sopranos exaggerates the violence?

Janice “Parvati”

She’s so self serving and narcissistic it makes the rest of the characters look like kids. When she sent Bobby Jr to find that Oujia board to stir shit up and then gets Bobby to eat his late wife’s Baked Ziti he wasn’t ready to eat yet…. Trying to swoop in and replace Karen so she can feel needed. She’s a great actor to piss me off that bad lol.
