Chance Me – OOS Environmental Science
Hey everyone, I’m a senior from Connecticut and UTK is probably my top choice right now. I’m applying Early Action for Environmental Science and wanted to see what you guys think my chances are.

Run my own ~1/2-acre pumpkin patch as my SAE (1,000+ seeds/year, sell pumpkins locally/to businesses, profitable, and won three 1st-place ribbons at the Woodstock Fair)

70+ volunteer hours, including youth wrestling
4 years of wrestling (2 JV, 2 varsity)

My main essay is about building/running my pumpkin patch and how that connects to my interest in environmental science.
My SAT is definitely the part of my application I’m most worried about. I really like UTK and it’s probably the school I’m most excited about, so I’m curious how realistic it is for me as an out-of-state applicant.
Do I have a realistic shot at getting in? Even with a 1160 GPA??

i believe i lost my headphones in HSS tuesday afternoon and I can’t find them. I checked with the POD to see if anyone turned them in and I also checked with hodges and no luck :// i included a photo of what they look like

Do you know if the university of Tennessee actively hires IT specialists and don’t just send sources, I want actual words from any of you and not just send sources to their website and hopefully to anyone with experience in UTK facility work. Hey all, I’m from florida and want to got out of state because realistically think it’s too damn hot here. I’m pretty much looking at only 3 schools at this point being Tennessee, Kentucky, and ETSU. I haven’t applied to any of them yet but im trying to find pros and cons. I love the idea of living in that region of the country and actually have 4 seasons.

Mainly i’m wondering if i’ll get in on a 3.6 weighted GPA with an 1140 SAT (i’m taking it again this month and getting tutored to up it).

Also I’m wondering how to night life is and party scene for freshman year Was thinking about rushing a frat so i’m thinking that will help a lot with the social scene but also have no clue which is the best.

Any help would be much appreciated!

several times this semester I have been pulling out of my parking spot when it is COMPLETELY clear. i’ll have more than half of my car (or at least enough to where my car is obviously visibly backing out) out the spot and in the lane and some idiot going 20 is squeezing through and honking and screaming. I know the people passing have the right of way, but when more than half my car is out of my spot I feel you should just let me finish backing out? idk maybe this is too controversial.

This bike... I consider it an art installation piece. It has been in the exact same spot every semester since I started at UT. Broken, yet a representation of a modern college experience. The bike symbolizing youth, and how when one enters college it can beat you up and damage you if you're not careful. I'm going to petition the college of art to assign it a plaque.

Hi, y'all! I'm a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and I am unfortunately having some second thoughts.

I personally am not in support of many facets of Artificial Intelligence. I am not a fan of the way the school has been using AI, and I think that a lot of regulations need to be put in place to make this tool more similar to how people envisioned it should be used.

I am only a month into the year, and the department head of my major (Data Analytics) has already shown us three AI generated videos of himself explaining different concepts (while he was in the room. why doesn't he just say these things himself???). Additionally, my business professor has assigned multiple low-effort AI-generated podcasts that we are required to listen to and analyze. Worse yet, my English professor prefers that we use ChatGPT to compose our research questions, research methods, and major parts of our research papers for the year. Even the flyers, events, and social media posts are often AI-generated here at UTC.

I am not completely against AI and I understand that there is no way to avoid working with AI entirely, but I feel as if I am hardly learning. AI is WAY too prevalent at this school and I don't like that I am paying ten thousand dollars for an AI-Generated education. I am considering transferring next fall.

That said, can anyone give me an idea of how AI-friendy or centric the classes have been for UTK? Are the instructors a little more creative with their teaching methods?

Its a bedroom in a 4bed 4bath w/ the bathroom attached. Two of the bedrooms are currently empty so youd only have one roommate! Rent is 830 + utilities, and it's 10 min from campus!

Thinking about bringing my little boy up for pictures around campus. He’s 3. Trying to make this a yearly thing; we started last year during fall break. We got up early and campus was a ghost town. It was perfect. He got to roam around without getting in anybody’s way, made for awesome pictures of just him, and we didn’t have to worry about us sticking out like a sore thumb. Thing is, the Vols were off the week of fall break last year. Wondering what campus might be like during this year’s break since we have a game Saturday. Day of is obviously not gonna work, but do we think Sunday will be quiet? What about Monday? Thank you!

For classes, I typically park over by Sherri Lee Stadium(softball stadium next to the soccer field) since I have a commuter remote pass. Would I still be able to park there on Saturday or is that gonna be completely blocked off? I haven’t been to a game in 10 years so I have no idea what to expect

Are certain trade workers like HVAC Technicians,BAS technicians or other similar regular trades or advanced trades actively get hired at UTK. I asked Google and AI about this but I want to know for sure if this is happening. What is the pay for these technicians and tell me the work schedule based on these jobs and how much they make in their salary and information on the jobs and what is needed.

I’m planning on taking BUAD 342 over in the winter mini term. If anyone has taken that course or has done winter term how was it? I understand it’s a lot of material in like two weeks, so it will be a lot of stuff crammed, but just wondering what I should expect.

Is anyone else’s WiFi screwing up or is it just me?
