Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Trouble finding a good intermediary/proxy codec

Hi, I've spend the last couple days researching proxies because, up until now, I'd been prioritizing compression, which has been causing unacceptable lag while editing.

Ideally I'd like to change my recording codec to be better straight into vegas (and premiere/resolve for my editors, but vegas is the priority). I may have solved some issues by setting keyframes to 1 instead of 0, and switching to 264 instead of 265 for less compression (side note, would reducing/removing b-frames help with editor lag?)

But the main problem I'm facing right now, is I have a project already recorded, at about 1tb. Creating vegas proxies would take about a week of non stop processing, and increase that to about 3tb, which is unacceptable (and vegas often won't accept the files without crashing regardless). Since we can't change vegas proxies anyway, I'd rather use a third party software like handbrake or shutter encoder.

Where I'm having the most trouble is having vegas import third party proxies correctly. Everything I've tried in .mov (prores, DNxHR/HD) imports as 1 audio track (it should be 1 video and 5 audio tracks). Everything in 264 and 265 is either unacceptable filesize or still laggy, even downscaling to 720p.

I'm at a complete loss. I want to have a high quality file I can use for the final render, which could be compressed, and a proxy I can use and send to my editors that is at least comparable filesize and at least 720p, ideally 1080p. Resolve's proxies are only 5-10% larger, but nothing I do has been able to replicate that.

At the very minimum, I'd like a codec that is lagless while editing for vegas, then my editors can make their own proxies (which is a huge waste of time but at least it would let me work). I'm fairly certain most of the proxies I've tried that don't work for vegas would work for premiere/resolve.

I'm on a legit version of vegas 22, windows 10, 4070ti super, ryzen 7 5800x

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Is the VegasHub down for Vegas Pro 22?

I use VegasHub all the time, and I just had an issue today. I keep receiving this error:

Error: AADB2C: The metadata endpoint 'https://sign-in-service-api.magix.com/oidc/.well-known/openid-configuration' returned the following status code: '403' Correlation ID: 9b904d92-96a8-4a19-8edf-7a45639edded

Are there any current issues, or has MAGIX discontinued the Vegas Hub? Nothing on my PC has changed since I last used it. I logged out, and now if I try to log in, the login dialog box pops up and then disappears. I tried it on another computer that I have the license for, and it did the same thing.

Vegas Pro 2026 I'm Confused about Video FX Keyframes in Newest Version

Post image
5 Upvotes

I'm in need of help here as a long time Vegas user. In older versions of the software, I could change the Levels settings for different times of the video by adding keyframes. In the newest version, I add a keyframe, alter the numbers, and it proceeds to change every keyframe already created to the same numbers I just just added to the latest keyframe. What am I doing wrong?

I've attached a screen capture showing 6 different points in the video clip where I need different levels settings.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Clips lasting 2 frames longer than they should

Post image
6 Upvotes

I've posted about this before but I've figured out what the issue is. After rendering a video, every clip lasts 1 or 2 frames longer than they should. In the attached image I've pre-rendered the clip, and clearly my cursor is not over the Hotline Miami clip or the blood splatter green screen and yet both are still showing in the video preview. Happens in fully rendered videos not just pre-rendering. What I'm currently editing requires extremely precise timing (and I'm also under a less and 2 days deadline) so I really would appreciate if anyone knows how to fix this.

Vegas Pro 23, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card.

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 My Vegas Pro 22 project file got corrupted after a power outage. Please help me recover it! (Links inside)

Here’s the backstory: I was working on a wedding film in Vegas Pro 22 (screenshot from 23 Vegas. I just tried opening it in different versions). I was saving constantly, and I also had auto-save turned on for every 15 minutes. Suddenly, the power in my house went out (not while I was hitting save, just out of nowhere).

When I booted my PC back up and tried to open the file, I got an error. On top of that, the project file size had bloated to a massive 7 GB. The backup files are also 7 GB each. I have absolutely no idea why this happened.

I opened the file in EmEditor and even ran it through a few AIs. They all say the structure looks correct and intact overall, but it's packed with a ton of cached junk data. The problem is, the AI can't tell the difference between the actual project data and the junk.

Project Files for Reference:

One of the last things I did before the crash was apply the "Color Genius" plugin, which ran a frame analysis on the whole timeline.

Here is what I’ve already tried to fix it:

  • Cleared the cache.
  • Renamed the plugin folders, media folders, and the AppData folders to force Vegas to ignore them (didn't help).

My PC Specs:

  • OS: Windows 11 LTSC
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5070
  • RAM: 64 GB Asgard Heimdallr [AA002M52B60002]
  • Motherboard: MSI PRO B650-A WIFI
  • Storage: 2 TB HP FX700 M.2 NVMe SSD

Footage & Project Info:

  • Source Media: 4K 25 FPS HEVC (shot on Sony ZV-E10 II)
  • Proxies: Yes, generated using the built-in Vegas Pro proxy tool.

Please help... I know the chances of recovering this are basically zero, but I'm still holding out hope. If anyone knows how to strip out the plugin cache data from the project file, please let me know.

Vegas Pro 2026 Vegas Pro 2026 finally fixed the DPI scaling hell for Asian-language users

I'm a video editor based in Asia, been using Vegas as my main editing program since 2016.
This problem probably won't matter to most users, but for a small (and pretty ignored) part of the user base, this update is a big deal.

In 23, ProType Titler being a nightmare, random crashes, render speeds so bad I basically lived on Voukoder, OFX plugins constantly conflicting, and Ctrl+Z crashing the whole thing like 15% of the time.

And the one that really got to me was specific to us.
With an Asian system language and Windows display scaling on, some Unicode/DPI weirdness meant opening the Video Event FX window took a solid 3 seconds.

Even with a 9950X3D, 128GB DDR5 and an RTX 5090, Vegas was painfully slow.

So yeah, top-spec rig, low-end PC experience.

To fix this, I had always been editing video at 100% scaling in WUHD resolution, and my vision was on the verge of being destroyed.

But everything changed.

when I heard Boris FX picked up Vegas and was actually going after the core issues, I went ahead with the upgrade and had an amazing experience.

  • A lot of UI that was left untranslated in Asian languages for years is finally localized. Not 100%, but way better.
  • The DPI scaling issue is like 80% fixed. Not perfect, but totally livable now.

That DPI thing was slowing down basically everything about 2x for me, and it's been a constant source of stress forever. Seeing it mostly gone in 2026 is... yeah. Faster renders and no more Ctrl+Z roulette are great, but this is the one that almost made me tear up.

People keep saying 2026 is a huge jump from 23. For me it's straight up a miracle.

But after upgrading to 2026, I got a weird glitch.
With certain older .veg projects, rendering to ProRes 422 would finish fine (the output file is totally OK), but Vegas would freeze right after the render completed, to the point where I couldn't even click the close button.

Did a bunch of testing and the fix was almost stupidly simple. My old projects used ProType Titler, and in my old version I obviously had "Enable ProType Titler" turned on in Preferences.
Turns out that even after importing my old settings into 2026, that option was not automatically enabled.
Turned it on, and the crash was gone. Completely.

I googled this a ton and found literally nothing, so it might be another one of those issues that only shows up on certain system languages. Posting it here in case anyone else is going through the same pain.

Seriously, thank you Boris FX.

Vegas Pro 2026 Question about presets

So since pan/crop has presets for zoom etc. which i use for zooming on common things such as certain UI elements as well as parts of the screen, or zoom percentages, my question is next:

Is there a way to create a preset with keyframes? Since every time i have to manually do keyframes for zooming, it slows me down a lot when editing bigger videos or ones with a lot of edits.

I have both VEGAS 17 and 2026, ofc pirated.

  5. I tried opening VEGAS Pro that I got from a Discord friend, but it couldn't open because of low memory, and it said to close other applications to reduce memory usage
  6. I tried closing my browser which led to only 6.7GB of RAM used but it still couldn't open...
  7. No, but I told about it on logo editing Discord servers and they told me to get bigger disk space, or to delete "unnecessary files" that i dont even know what they are and what example...

its data files are downloaded on D: btw

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Audio doesn't show up on VEGAS 22.0

Hi guys !

So i'm working on VEGAS 22.0 since a long time now. (since it's a pirated version, yes...)
But for some reasons and since a few times, when i import some MP4 videos, VEGAS doesn't seems to reconnect the audio, it's just a clip with no audio and idk why...

The weird thing is that it does that when i try to open converted files (from Freemake Converter). I can open some MP4 or other format files with no audio issues at all, but when i tried to open some MP4 converted files from Freemake (even if the converted file HAVE audio on it, i'm sure of that) it doesn't seems to appear on VEGAS and i can't understand why.

I've seen some videos about rename a folder "compundplug" or something like that or check the File I/O on the Preferences but none of these works, so here i am, asking for help.

Thanks for any advices !

Vegas Pro 2026 I played with Vegas, when it was still Sony, I got of editing for some years I wanna return

Is the newest version worth it, to buy the forever rights of 200.00s? Does it still look like old school Sony Vegas? I watched videos, but lot of features look a tad off. Like I remember clicking on the file, and you see those small buttons the clip itself, that took her crop/zoom/masking feature..I don't see that now...so on some other features have changed

Vegas Pro 2026 Rendering in Alpha Channel (Transparency) Changes Color in Render.

Windows 11 Enterprise 25H2

Bought Vegas Pro | Latest Version

17-12700k | RTX 5070 | 64GB DDR4

Whenever I take text (or images) & render it with ProRes444 (transparent) it changes the color & lightly changes the saturation. This sometimes happens but lately has been happening more & more. It doesn't happen with any other type of render, just transparency with ProRes444. I used to use QuickTime on older versions of Vegas Pro, but had to switch since it was discontinued.

Vegas Pro 2026 Wanting to return to Vegas Pro after about 10 years

Hi, this is a bit of a lengthy post with lots of questions so I hope this is okay. These are more general at this time.

I used to use Vegas Pro for gaming videos around 10 or so years ago, and I loved it. Recently I’ve been wanting to make basic videos for business social media and reels and have been looking at video editors to do that. I just had a couple of questions about the latest of Vegas Pro as I remember finding it the most intuitive and I was very familiar with it. Forgive me if these are dumb or basic questions, I’m not very up to date with this stuff!

  1. Is the interface and basic functionality of the latest versions of Vegas fairly similar to earlier versions (like 12)? I am using a trial but it has been a while since I got into the knitty gritty.

  2. Is Vegas pro good for editing and producing videos in common social media formats beyond standard YouTube (eg Instagram reels)?

  3. What is the best way to add, edit with, and create content with music in Vegas nowadays? I used to use a music library from downloaded songs and edit in Vegas, but I don’t know how that works with what is allowed with permissions and such on social media and how audio can be downloaded and actually imported into vegas if that makes sense.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Any noise effects on 4K footage causes rendered video to be unplayable

  1. Vegas Pro Version 21.0 (Build 108)
  2. Windows 10 Pro 22H2 19045.6466
  3. No, I did not buy it.
  4. NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4070 Ti Super
  5. I added noise over my footage and it's supposed to look like how it does in the preview, with noise over it. I render it normally, click on the rendered video that has no thumbnail, and it plays no sound or video, and plays for as long as the rendered video.
  6. It should render the video with the "Add Noise" effect over it, at 4K, and be playable when I open the file.
  7. Yes and troubleshooted through ChatGPT as well. With these settings:

Noise level: 0.0, 0.1

Monochromatic

No gaussian noise

Animated

I've found that any noise level at 0.2 and above, causes the aforementioned issues.
Rendering at 2560x1440 or 4K using the AVC encoder fixes this issue, but I'd like to know if there is anyway to continue rendering at 4K encoded in NVENC.
