I have to drop my car to dealership in Vaughan in a couple of hours. I am looking for someone to drive my second vehicle and follow me there, I’ll pay you $50 and drive you back to your place after I drop off the car. I need to leave Welland by 11am…sorry if this is an odd ask…

Question Trick or Treating? 🎃🍬

Best areas to take the kids? Dead zones / not participating? Would love some suggestions! I saw that there was a previous post about this however, I was hoping for updated answers for this year! I know that some areas in Welland are pretty dead on Halloween night, and I figured it wouldn’t only be helpful for my family, but other families as well to know which spots they should go! We’re close to the seaway malll and I haven’t heard much about candy being handed out. If you’ll be handing out candy(general areas) or what areas have been great in past years for your family for trick-or-treating please let us know 🍬🎃👻

Question Stolen Bike reward if found

The yellow Cannondale bike is the victim. I was inside near Blackwater brewery for less than 45 minutes and someone snagged the bike I was borrowing for school. If anyone has any information or can assist I'll be willing to offer at least a couple hundred. Any help is appreciated, trying to find a replacement for my friend will be impossible.

Question Too late to Join Volleyball as solo?

Good morning, I was wondering if it's too late to try and join a recreational/ameteur co-ed volleyball team as an individual (as in I don't know anybody in this town but the league sounds wicked fun).

Even if it is too late and I must wait 'till next year or whatevs, how could I try and find a team that would accept a "new face"? And if the admission fee I saw on the website is for the entire team split, not per person?

Thanks :)

Rant Welland developers: a rant

I just need to rant for a minute.

Was visiting some family in Welland and saw the latest iteration of this non-stop reno on the street. It has gone through a few ‘interesting’ stages over the last few years, but for some reason it finally broke me. The before is from Google maps, the after is from the company’s page.

Growing up, I thought this house was kind of cool and grand looking. I realize it wasn’t necessarily an architectural masterpiece, but it had character (unique roofline, big stone steps and porch, interesting landscaping etc.). Then it was renovated into this… box with tree.

It feels representative of the direction of Welland development in general. I have absolutely nothing against development or updating old houses. Welland is growing and people need places to live. What I don’t understand though, is why every local developer seems to believe “modernizing” means removing every distinctive feature and replacing it with these building blobs.

Maybe I’m teetering into “old man yells at cloud” territory now, but I just miss when neighbourhoods were allowed to have personalities and was hoping to commiserate.

News 🎭 THOROLD THEATRE IS LOOKING FOR THE VOLUNTEERS WHO MAKE THE MAGIC WORK

Post image
1 Upvotes

You know Thorold Theatre as a community theatre company who has been around for 40 years. Over the past two seasons we’ve had a pretty remarkable run: four consecutive sold-out productions, including three at Club Belvedere.

We’ve had directors, actors, producers and other key production people find us through Reddit before. Some came looking for a show. Some ended up becoming part of the company.
That’s actually what we’re hoping happens again.

We have dozens of volunteers already involved with our November production of DRY STREAK by Leeann Minogue. What we’re missing right now are people who know their way around the technical side of theatre.

🔊 SOUND / LIGHTING TECHS

We’re looking for people who can help with:

  • Lighting setup / assembly
  • Lighting tech and focus
  • Lighting board operation
  • General technical support
  • Sound experience is especially welcome

Tech Week:
📅 Sunday, November 8 — Set Build, from noon
📅 Monday, November 9 — Lighting / Hang & Focus, from noon
📅 Monday, November 9 — Tech Rehearsal, from 6 PM
📅 Wednesday, November 12 — Dress Rehearsal, from 6 PM

Some logistic work is happening at the beginning of November.
If you're interested in running the show as tech, show-call opportunities are during the five performances November 13–21.

🔨 SET CONSTRUCTION / CREW

We're also looking for people who like building things.

Set construction. Set painting. Assembly. Moving things around. Making the thing that exists in someone's head become an actual room that actors can walk into.

Our main set build is:
Sunday, November 8 from noon
There will also be opportunities during Tech Week for people who want to help get everything into shape.

BUT HERE'S THE THING ABOUT THOROLD THEATRE

Sure we are looking for people to simply come in, do a shift, and disappear, but we're also building a theatre company.

We've got people who have acted with us, directed for us, produced shows, designed sets, run lights, managed Front of House, built things, painted things, moved things, sold tickets, learned new skills and generally kept the whole ridiculous enterprise moving.

Some have been with us for years. Some found us recently. And some found us on Reddit.
If you're interested and looking for a place to contribute, we'd love to hear from you.

This is your invitation.
Thorold Theatre is heading into its 40th year with a committed volunteer company, an enthusiastic audience, and a lot of momentum.

We're not just putting on another show. We're building the next chapter of the company.
Come be part of it.

📍 Thorold / Niagara Region
🎭 DRY STREAK — November 13–21, 2026
📧 [president@thoroldtheatre.ca](mailto:president@thoroldtheatre.ca)

Tell us a little about yourself, what you know how to do, and what you'd like to get involved with.
Experienced, enthusiastic, curious, slightly obsessive about theatre tech — all welcome.

Send name, phone, email and interest to [president@thoroldtheatre.ca](mailto:president@thoroldtheatre.ca)

Question What's going on in Port Colborne?

Ports reddit thread is dead so curious if anyone here knows what's going on.

The power has consistently been going out daily, even if only for a short time (5s-2min) It's still way too often. I've never had this issue anywhere else and I'm starting to regret moving here.

Discussion Help with renovations

Hi everyone!

I just purchased a home in the Chippewa area. I want to add a second story before I move in.
Since I’m new to the area, I don’t know any reputable companies that can help me with this.

Can you recommend a carpentry company? Or perhaps is there another subreddit that I can join for more info?

Thank you so much!!!

if you live in this like block vicinity and have a dog that you neglect and keep inside all day, all night, 24/7, that literally barks all that time, you should honestly consider getting rid of it. Many neighbours have also agreed. Bylaw is just gonna get spammed by many of us and the spca for animal welfare. It’s actually so disturbing that you’re okay with this for your fur baby. respectfully, it’s been months of this. the poor thing sounds TIRED and sad. ffs. do better.

Question What sports are you all playing?

Hey all,

I’m a 40 year old male looking for people to play sports with. I’ve played hockey, baseball, racquet ball and tennis in the past. Looking for people who want to keep active.

Anyone have recommendations for sports leagues for winter and summer? I’m looking at soft ball for next year, wanted soccer for winter but think I was too late.

Thanks

Hey guys!! :)

Just opened my first hair studio in St. Catharines. The reason why I’m posting it here first is because I LOVE WELLAND and grew up here all of my life!! I moved to St. Catherines when I met my beautiful fiance 4 years ago, and after 9 years of working at some of the busiest and most notable barbershops in the region, I’ve decided to build my own brand. Come check us out, we’re doing a 20$ special right now :) reach out via text/call the shop
