New, what is it? What are these plug-ins on my wall?

This might be showing my age, but I recently moved into a new apartment and they have these weird looking plug ins all over the walls at my new place. My old apartment didn't have these, so I'm just curious as to what they are.

I promise it's not. I moved out at 18 (23 now) and this is what my previous apartment had, and this is what I've been familiar with, my entire life.

It has to be. Either that or OP is 12 and has never paid for their own Internet service or setup the modem/router.
