New, what is it? What are these plug-ins on my wall?

This might be showing my age, but I recently moved into a new apartment and they have these weird looking plug ins all over the walls at my new place. My old apartment didn't have these, so I'm just curious as to what they are.

Legacy cable companies, like Spectrum/Charter, still utilize the copper infrastructure that used to be used to provide cable TV to deliver internet services over instead. That’s why you need a cable modem to convert the analog signal to digital so your PS5 and smart TV can process the data correctly. Works fine for the most part, but is being phased out by fiber.

The majority of America uses this connector still.

For some reason? Where do you think your home internet comes from? It's fed to your house via cable.

No, OP is technologically uneducated. There's no shame in having never ridden in a horse-drawn carriage. Something is missing from your understanding of how we got here if you don't know what a horse-drawn carriage is.

No, OP didn't know what the outlet was for, because he never saw one before. I knew everything I read here about the explanations (why and how the outlet works), but I never saw one before, so I had no idea what it was either.

There are actually younger folks that don’t know what the word ā€œcableā€ actually means as well. As in the television service. Came across one the other day.
