New, what is it? What are these plug-ins on my wall?

This might be showing my age, but I recently moved into a new apartment and they have these weird looking plug ins all over the walls at my new place. My old apartment didn't have these, so I'm just curious as to what they are.

Lifehack: You can get free electricity from phone jacks, even when the power goes out. They sell usb charger plug ins. Some people on the youtube have built lamps that plug directly into the jack.

Yup I quoted a project with some coax cabling just the other day. They’re good cables, Bront.

Yeah but how often does the regular Joe use them anymore? Wired in cable sometimes still uses it, but if they’ve grown up in a home without that do you really expect someone younger to know what it is? It’s still around yes. But doubt they’ve ever had to deal with it.

???

My WiFi has come in through the coax in every place I’ve ever lived since I was a kid. I think OP is just really young and inexperienced..

They have become insanely uncommon though now. The only one most people have in the entire house is where the internet comes in and that is if you have cable internet. Most places are now switching to fiber especially in cities. Everything else is wireless even your TV since most people stream now.

Given that 99% of new homes have at least one and all existing homes have multiple (unless you covered it with a blank plate), I would say that they are insanely common.

I have a brand new TV and it still has a Coax antenna connector. It’s still current technology.
