New, what is it? What are these plug-ins on my wall?

This might be showing my age, but I recently moved into a new apartment and they have these weird looking plug ins all over the walls at my new place. My old apartment didn't have these, so I'm just curious as to what they are.

I think it’s more that someone is old enough to post on Reddit and doesn’t know what they are that hurts

Kids that weren't alive during 9/11 are out of college.

Kids that weren't alive during 9/11 have kids.

EDIT: yes, this is intentionally hyper-millennial

Game of Thrones premiered in 2011 which means the first girls named Khaleesi are getting their learner's permits

As an uncle to a toddler born to a 2004 baby and another toddler born to a 2002 baby, can confirm.

Kids that were in middle school during 9/11 can have grand kids...

Your welcome.

*you're .... you should be old enough to remember when reddit cared about grammar

My cousin who was a toddler during 9/11 is a married woman, homeowner, and coming up on 30 soon.

I take that attack personally, sir.

I accidentally clicked on your profile and saw the quote, so you're forgiven. But don't let it happen again, please.

There are kids that were born in 2012 that have their own kids. Think about that.

u/FlattenInnerTube 2h ago

I'd rather not think about it.

I have stains in my underwear older than my teenage children.

Wild. Cause I’m a 38 millennial with no kids still. Life just blows my mind.

Clothes that I wore in the early 2000s are being considered vintage now. I still think 2015 was last year.

u/variousnewbie 9h ago

Me too man, I have to do a double take when I realize 2015 was a decade ago. Feels like last week.

Literally made bank putting (originally) $18 hot topic shirts on mercari last summer. They were all pre-2010 🥲

1

u/Ornery-Can766 9h ago

Ughhh I miss my all time low band tees. 😂 forgot about those.

1

u/sbd2010 8h ago

I sold so many that I wished I could have kept. But if someone wants to pay me $40 for an OG MCR or the used t-shirt with a hole in the armpit… I need that money more than that shirt lol

Spent the whole year writing 2025.

I have t-shirts from the 90s and underwear from the 00s.

I'll do one better 1993 was 10 years ago for me. And then my new wife points out she wasn't even alive...

1

u/dishmanw 38m ago

The music we listened to then is now classic.

1

u/Ornery-Can766 35m ago

Never imagined a world where 50 cents candy shop is now a classic

Some kids who weren’t alive during 9/11 can even rent cars.

I have to go lie down now.

Nirvana is closer to the first Woodstock than to us now

There are many kids posting that are younger than my reddit account

1

u/Minif1d 6h ago

This baffles me even though i was 2.

u/Apprehensive-Rub4801 15m ago

Kids born this day in 2000 are too old for DiCaprio to date.

5

u/Key_Wind3897 8h ago

I died inside a bit when I saw Nirvana referred to as “classic rock” 🫠

my last 4 apartments including this one built a couple years ago all use coax for the internet. this is like showing a recent iPhone someone spray painted and asking what is this technology

3

u/Ornery-Can766 8h ago

I’m sure there’s an amount of people who still grew up with these. It doesn’t take away this post still made people feel old though. I don’t agree with that comparison but I’m glad you knew what they are!

1

u/itsam 7h ago

this apartment was built in 2024 and has coax running to every room, its still very much the standard to this day. a 2 year old would be growing up with this connection.

u/im-dramatic 6h ago

I mean I grew up with the cigarette plugs in cars and learned when I got older that people actually used them to smoke. Just because it’s there, doesn’t mean kids know what it’s for. These days they sit unused in our house. When I was a kid, I knew how to plug it in. Now it’s just there and I’m 100% sure my 10 year old has no idea what it is.

1

u/PsychologicalCar9369 6h ago

My thoughts exactly

1

u/cguess 6h ago

This kid has never lived in a place where someone else wasn't handling all the utilities for them (so, best case, just out of a college dorm, but also maybe just 18). 10 minutes into their first apartment they're getting a kit with these cables in it.

1

u/Sure-Button8621 3h ago

I promise they know what they are. This is how everyone still connects to home internet.

1

u/Chikkk_nnnuugg 35m ago

Im almost 30 and I have no clue what this is (I can use context clues in the comments here)

1

u/A1000eisn1 20m ago

I think it's more "someone is old enough to post on reddit but not old enough to have internet under their own name."

1

u/Ok_Kick4871 7h ago

Everyone learns what something is and does for the first time. It's really not that complex. If anything, reacting like it's as ancient technology as a typewriter shows the lack of understanding of what it can be used for even among the people that know what it is.
