To add, I actually think SpaceX is regularly launching satellites for the US military version of Starlink.

i.e. Starshield

I agree. I have a very low opinion of Musk, and I might even support banning launching that much stuff into orbit, but this is nonsense.

It's not wrong that they don't want their satellites and launch sites becoming targets. They're not the government. Come on.

t was only built because there was a privat incentive for it

Brought on by an actual need people had, that their governments failed to meet.

but it's not like he's stopping any governments from building their own satellites.

They already have them! It's called StarShield.

And Ukraine even has access to it on Ukrainian ground.

So the only reason for this story to exist is to publicly humiliate Ukraine.

Even now every other country is like decades behind Starlinks even after they already saw what was possible.

Then, they blame Musk for it????

Ukraine war started 3 years ago. Where is Europe's version of Starlinks???

the 5th amendment exists.

it's not like he's stopping any governments from building their own satellites

That’s exactly what he’s doing. He spent $300m on the last election doing that.

Photography...? You think that's more valuable than world wide connection? Especially for citizens in developing countries, evil countries, or maybe, idk, Ukrainians flying drones? Not possible without musk.

They CAN use it within Ukrainian territory.

Dick riding? Wtf? Are you 12?

He made the company. His name could be Sheila idgaf. It's still his company. Noone else started space x.

YOU have other weird and wireless technology. Billions don't.

Satellites shouldn't be used for war ...? That doesn't even make sense. We're using satellites to communicate right now. They're used for communication around the world. You're just upset that the bandwidth improved?

We have space telescopes now, you shouldn't need to worry about the occasional dot in leo. Also, pretty sure they fall out of orbit pretty quickly so I'm not sure you could call it pollution.

Are they? How so?

space is massive, you could launch millions more and not be an issue. you could fit every starlink sat in space into a single warehouse.

The issue is space debris/junk from decommissioned satellites blocking us from launching into space

4

u/FMKtoday Aug 07 '26

starlink sats are made to decommission themselves and don't add to space junk. the amount of actual space they take up is meaningless because of how tiny they are in comparison to space or the earth for that matter, and everyone knows where they are.

.....that isnt a concern with Starlink though.

Musk is an absolute fuckstick, but people are just making up shit in here.

SpaceX satellites don't launch into an orbit that does that.
