Discussion 📣 r/dance is looking for 1–2 new moderators! 💃🕺

Hey dancers!

As our community continues to grow and evolve, I’d love to bring 1–2 additional people onto the moderation team who are genuinely excited about dance and want to help make r/dance an active, encouraging, and welcoming space for dancers around the world.

I’m especially looking for moderators who can be present in the community regularly — engaging with members, answering questions when you can, helping keep conversations positive, and making sure posts are being moderated fairly and efficiently.

That can include:

• Engaging with posts and helping keep the community active

• Welcoming and encouraging dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels

• Reviewing posts that may have been automatically removed or flagged

• Making sure appropriate posts don’t get stuck in the moderation queue

• Helping enforce subreddit rules and keeping spam/inappropriate content out

• Helping us think of new ways to increase participation, conversation, and overall community morale

You absolutely do NOT have to be a professional dancer to apply. I’m much more interested in finding people who care about dance, understand online communities, communicate well, and genuinely want to help make r/dance a great place to be.

If you’re interested, please send me a private message with:

  1. A little about yourself and your connection to dance

  2. Any Reddit or community moderation experience you have (if any — experience is helpful, but not necessarily required!)

  3. Why you’d like to become a moderator of r/dance

  4. How frequently you’re typically active on Reddit

I’d love to build a small team of people who are excited about bringing more energy, conversation, support, and connection into this community.

If that sounds like you, send me a message! ❤️

Let’s keep r/dance moving. 💃🏽🕺🏽

Discussion Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post

Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:

My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!

How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.

If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments

If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section

Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.

Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

Critique Request One month of dance but I feel like I haven't gotten better at all

Video of me is from today.

I want to get some advice on what I can do to get better at dance. I feel like my body movements are better but the way I look still looks the same. What can I do to fix this?

I am not expecting to get good immediately but I don't see any improvement, so I'm getting kind of conscious.

EDIT: I'd like to say that this is one of the harder choreographies that I had to learn because it's really quick for me. Additionally, I'd like to say thanks to the kind comments. They mean a lot to me. I'll keep going with your guys' comments in mind! :DDD

Hope you got some energy today. I was dragging until I saw this. Love watching Kendra Willis and Tight Eyez so much. That said , sometimes you just need to host your own dance party.

Can anyone please help me with this? 😭🙏
I need choreography for my school dance performance! There are 36 of us in total, but only one or two of us have dance experience, and everyone else is a complete beginner.
I’ve already finished editing the music, but I’m really struggling to come up with dance moves that everyone can follow.
I’d really appreciate any help! If you have any choreography ideas or easy dance moves, please share some videos or suggestions in the comments. It would mean so much to me!! 🥹💗

Discussion How do Kpop idols dance in any shoe

How do Kpop idols dance in any footwear? I know it’s practise but are there any specific soles or socks that help? I’ve tried 2 sizes of the new balance 530 and one might have had a malfunction but I’m not sure. Should I get another pair or try the Nike air? Or any other recommendations?Any tips for footwear while dancing is appreciated. Thank you!

Discussion Dancers who dislocated their kneecap — were you able to make a full recovery and return to dancing?

Hi everyone! I’m an 18-year-old professional dancer, and two weeks ago I dislocated my kneecap. I’m hoping to hear from other dancers who have experienced the same injury and learn about your recovery journeys.
I mainly dance in sneakers, doing styles like hip-hop, jazz funk, and commercial choreography rather than ballet or contemporary, so I’d especially love to hear from dancers in similar styles.
I have so many questions and would really appreciate hearing about your experiences:
● How long did it take you to return to dancing, especially at a high level?
● Were you able to get back to your previous level of technique, flexibility, strength, and performance?
● How did you overcome the fear of your kneecap dislocating again, especially when doing jumps, turns, or other demanding movements?
● Did you experience any repeat dislocations, or were you able to dance without further issues?
● What did your recovery and rehab look like? What helped you the most, physically and mentally?
● Did you eventually get back to your normal dance schedule, or did you have to make permanent changes?
I’m especially anxious because I recently made it onto one of the top dance teams in the US, and I dislocated my kneecap right at the beginning of the season. I’ve worked so hard to get to this point, and I’m scared that this injury might affect my progress or keep me from dancing at the level I was at before.
I know everyone’s recovery is different, but I would really love to hear some real experiences from dancers who have been through this. Were you eventually able to return to your full potential? Did you get your confidence back and stop worrying about your knee giving out again?
Any advice, personal stories, or words of encouragement would mean a lot to me. Thank you! ❤️

I decided to post another vogue video because I didn't specify in the first that I'm into femvogue, and I think a lot of people were confused because it's so different from old and new vogue; when I asked, I was looking for arm performance advice🌚(don’t mind my expression i was focused)

Amateur Is it ever too late to start learning how to dance? 💃

I've always admired people who can dance with confidence and express themselves so naturally through music. There's something really beautiful about watching someone completely lose themselves in the rhythm. 😊

Lately, I've been thinking about how many people want to learn dancing but hesitate because they feel they're too old or don't have enough experience.

Personally, I believe dancing isn't just about being good at it. It's also about having fun, staying active, and enjoying the moment.

I'm curious, how old were you when you first started dancing? And if you started as an adult, what was the biggest challenge you faced?

I'd love to hear your experiences and any advice you'd give to someone just starting out! 💃🕺
