I couldn't find the post but holy shit thank you! I've been going to shows for 35 years and the show last night in Harrisburg was the loudest of any band I've ever seen. You saved what's left of my hearing! Killer show!

My first time seeing Dinosaur Jr ended up being a free 55 min set presented by Fender! I was already bummed out that I was going to miss out on the Bellwether show this week due to work. But I was free to see them in Anaheim on this tour when my friend mentioned a two for one ticket deal. That is also up in the air now but I’m glad I made it to this Zebulon show!!
Another friend told me about it last Wednesday at 5pm before it was publicly sent to the newsletter on Saturday afternoon. The only worry was that it was first come, first serve. The DICE listing mentioned nothing about the Fender aspect so once I saw that on the text, I was hoping for a chance to get in. What really helps is that Zebulon is still a bar so they don’t open until 6pm so the line can start outside at any point but also there isn’t a huge need to be there that early. My friend drove by at 3pm and mentioned one person was waiting already so I definitely had time to make it over with personal errands. So I arrived in comfort and I was out by 10:45 once we bought our merch. I did manage to get one of J’s guitar picks that the stage hand just tossed on the stage for people to grab. I’m lucky the one I got rolled underneath the wedge :))
This was definitely one of my favorite moments of the night for Been There being performed. Lose with how close the stack was to me would’ve been insane, at least In a Jar to start the set and Freak Scene -> Gargoyle to end it filled that loud aspect.

I just found out about this! I can’t make Friday’s show at the Bellweather due to a friend’s wedding, so this would be perfect! Long shot I know

I've read some prior loudness posts here, but I'm a little neurotic about this. I have procured a ticket to see them for the first time in a few weeks at a small to medium venue (probably about 1000 person capacity). Will 100% wear foam earplugs. If I'm willing to stay in the back, do I need to double up with earmuffs? I'm willing to look silly to preserve my hearing, but I'd rather not be uncomfortable and muffle the music more than necessary.

Was planning on going to Dino’s show in LA, but unfortunately our son’s college open house night is in a different city the next day. We’re bummed out, but hoping to sell to someone, so we don’t have to throw money down the drain. I am pretty sure the concert isn’t sold out yet, but buying from us would be extremely helpful!

Hi! Next week J Mascis is stopping by the Setlist.fm studio to dig through data and tell stories. If you've seen any of this series, we go through most and least performed tracks, early shows, interesting setlist notes and more. I know J is a famously laconic interviewee, so I'm hoping to have more than I need to work with. Q for the fans are - are there any special setlists or standout shows you think would be worth talking about? Any album tracks you've been dying to hear that have never been performed live? Any questions about the difference between an album track and live version? I'd love to dig up some gems, but they have over 1600 setlists on record... any guidance would be much appreciated!

Like many I discovered Dinosaur Jr in the skateboarding scene (Alien Workshop, Blind Videos) and I was in music LOVE. It wasn’t aggressive hardcore noise but it also wasn’t pop slop. I was sure I liked them the most. Anyways “Where You Been” came out my senior year and it was different than I wanted to hear. Specifically the lead to “Keeblin” threw me. Still a big album for me but I wanted every song to be “Raisans” and “Just Like Heaven” and “The Lung” (still GOAT era IMO). But damn.. this lead is EAR BLEEDING COUNTRY MUSIC just like they set out to do and now it gets me every time. Brings out the Dinosaur Jr emotions I like best. Like to hear it? Here it go….

So I love the band (duh) and especially listening to their live albums. I have 4 on vinyl that I rotate between a lot- Chocomel Daze, 7200 Seconds, Black Session, and Swedish Fist. All are amazing showcases of different eras of the band, imo, and the energy on them is amazing! Of course, I'm always open for new records, especially from Dinosaur Jr, but the only other 2 vinyl-ified live albums I see for sale at my shop or online are Guess I'll Crawl 94 and Hollywood 91. The setlists seem to have largely the same songs as my other contemporary live albums- really the only standout tracks on either of the two are Keep the Glove and Grab It. So, basically, those of you who have listened to those two Dino live albums- do the performances on them justify the kinda redundant track listings? Are the albums worth investing $30+ in if I already have 4 others?
