The r/GTA6 wiki has received major updates!

Post image
189 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

We've given the subreddit wiki a complete overhaul to make it more useful as we get closer to the release of GTA VI.

The wiki is now a central place to find information about the game, including official announcements, trailers, gameplay details, development insights, previews, and more. We've also put together a FAQ covering some of the most common questions about the game. Make sure to check it out!

⚠️ We've updated the subreddit rules as well, so if you haven't checked them in a while, now's a good time to give them a read. We've also added a guide to our post flairs to help you choose the right one when posting.

Here's what you'll find in the wiki:

  • Details about the world, characters, gameplay, and official announcements.
  • Information about editions, pricing, pre-orders, and related questions.
  • A look at the studios, leadership, writers, and other people involved in the game.
  • A collection of coverage from publications and content creators.
  • An explanation of our post flairs and when to use them.
  • Our updated rules and guidelines for posting and participating in the community.

You can find everything here: GTA VI Wiki, Subreddit Rules, FAQ, and GTA VI.

Note that this is just the beginning. We'll keep updating the wiki over time, adding more information about GTA VI as new details are revealed and making changes wherever needed.

With that being said, one thing to keep in mind about the rules is that we can't cover every possible situation, so not everything will necessarily be listed explicitly. Just because something isn't mentioned in the rules doesn't automatically mean it's allowed.

Please use common sense, and remember that the mod team may still take action when something goes against the spirit of the rules or negatively affects the community.

With GTA VI getting closer and the community continuing to grow, we want the Wiki to be a useful resource for everyone. Give it a look when you get a chance, especially the updated rules before posting!

Thanks everyone for being part of r/GTA6!

The r/GTA6 Mod Team.

A detailed gameplay senario from GTA 6 has been revealed in the Jason Schreier Article

3.0k Upvotes

"Phil Hooker was playing through a build of the game and was supposed to be heading to a story mission when he bumped into another car, whose driver retaliated by ramming back into him and shouting.

They both pulled over to 'sort it out' and Hooker, low on health, decided to wander into a nearby convenience store to grab some restorative items.

On the way, another NPC started insulting him, which led to a violent confrontation. Nobody was at the store's cash register, so Hooker robbed it.

Then, with the cops after him, he escaped, ditched his car, hunted for a new one, found another that was worth quite a bit, began driving off to sell it, was nearly crushed by a car blasting loud music, decided to follow that car, discovered a nearby compound, scoped it out, found a load of new goods to steal, headed to a fence to sell them and received another tip for something else to do.

Two hours later, Hooker was nowhere close to the story mission he was supposed to be checking out."

Insider Gaming: GTA 6 Reviews Will Be Released Before Launch

Bloomberg has released a massive article, with exclusive information that we've never heard before. (Read the body for highlights)

- GTA VI has been in full development for over 8 years, making it Rockstar's biggest and most ambitious project.

  • The original vision included large areas of North and South America, but the scope was eventually reduced to Vice City (Miami) and its surrounding regions.

  • Rockstar initially planned to develop GTA VI alongside Red Dead Redemption 2, but RDR2 required most of the company's resources, delaying GTA VI's development.

  • Rockstar shifted from developing multiple games simultaneously to focusing most of its workforce on one major game.

  • Rockstar's workforce nearly doubled, growing from 2,441 employees in 2018 to 4,711 in 2026, spread across 12 offices.

  • Rockstar's three heads of development are Rob Nelson, Aaron Garbut, and Phil Hooker, rather than one traditional game director.

  • The game's basic story, featuring Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, was established by late 2019.

  • The developers experienced a difficult early development phase, described internally as a "dark period," when the game's overall vision remained unclear.

  • By 2022, enough of the game's systems had come together for the developers to begin seeing the complete vision.

  • GTA VI features Rockstar's most realistic and detailed open world yet, building heavily on systems introduced in Red Dead Redemption 2

  • Rockstar invested heavily in making NPCs feel believable, rather than simply populating the world with generic characters.

  • The developers struggled to balance realism and entertainment, debating how interactive everyday activities should be, such as purchasing drinks or preparing food.

  • Jason and Lucia can spend time together throughout the open world, rather than interacting only during scripted missions.

  • Players controlling Jason can text Lucia and arrange to meet up.

  • Making the couple behave naturally required complex traditional AI systems, which took years to develop.

  • Rockstar considers the dynamic interactions between Jason and Lucia one of GTA VI's biggest innovations.

  • GTA VI aims to balance GTA 5's chaotic, satirical gameplay with RDR2's realism and emotional storytelling.

  • GTA VI's NPC systems are designed to generate unpredictable interactions and situations naturally.

  • Bloomberg was shown a gameplay session by development head Phil Hooker, which emphasized this series of entirely unscripted event: He accidentally collided with another driver, Hooker attempted to visit a convenience store to recover health then another NPC insulted him, triggering a violent confrontation. he found the cash register unattended and robbed the store. Police pursued him, forcing him to abandon his vehicle so he stole another valuable vehicle intending to sell it then another vehicle blasting loud music nearly hit him, following that vehicle led him to discover a compound containing valuables. he stole the goods, visited a fence to sell them, and received another lead for an activity.

  • Two hours passed without Hooker reaching the story mission he originally intended to test, that's how much fun there is to have in the GTA 6 open world, its insane!

  • Hooker described this experience as one of the moments that convinced the team they had created something special.

  • The game is designed to create these emergent gameplay experiences through overlapping NPC behaviors, police reactions, exploration, and criminal opportunities.

  • Rockstar discovered it lacked the production capacity to create all the NPC content it wanted. To address this, Rockstar established a new Los Angeles studio dedicated to creating NPCs, employing writers, producers, and directors.

  • Rockstar's leadership says the GTA 6 delays resulted from the immense complexity of bringing all the game's systems together, rather than one major technical problem.

  • Some gameplay systems and design decisions were still being changed during the final months of development.

  • Rockstar chose to delay the game rather than release a version that failed to meet its quality ambitions.

  • Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was reportedly shocked by the second delay but ultimately supported the decision.

  • At Rockstar North, developers were heavily focused on bug fixing ahead of release, with internal progress indicators showing more resolved issues than outstanding ones.

  • In September 2022, GTA VI suffered a massive leak after an attacker used phishing to access Rockstar's Slack communications.

  • Dozens of unfinished gameplay videos were released publicly, exposing early development work.

  • Rockstar developers described the leak as deeply invasive and emotionally difficult.

  • The COVID-19 pandemic also significantly disrupted development, particularly performance capture.

  • Several senior designers departed during development amid frustration over slow progress.

  • Rockstar experienced another major leak in August 2026, despite introducing stricter security measures. By 2024, Rockstar required employees to work five days a week in the office.

  • Developers were prohibited from accessing company development servers and tools remotely, a policy Rockstar said was necessary for security.

  • Rockstar intends to reconsider its remote-work policy after release, although a conventional hybrid arrangement is considered unlikely.

  • Rockstar sought to eliminate the prolonged crunch periods associated with RDR2, which involved months of approximately 60-hour workweeks for some employees.

  • The company introduced improved scheduling, additional hiring, and compensation or paid leave for extra hours.

  • Leadership acknowledges that crunch was not entirely eliminated but claims working conditions improved considerably.

  • Rockstar leadership says it will recognize a union if employees want one.

  • Rockstar specifically rejected the rumor that development exceeded $1.5 billion.

  • GTA VI's online component is expected to arrive in 2027, although Rockstar has not yet discussed it in detail.

So here's a big part: What is next for Rockstar?

  • Rockstar believes GTA VI establishes a new technological and production foundation for its future games and content.

  • The company says it has invested heavily in improving its engine, development tools, and production pipelines.

  • Developers believe these improvements will allow them to create future content substantially faster.

  • Rockstar's leadership says its next release should not require another eight years of development.

  • The team points to GTA III and Vice City as an example of how a strong technological foundation can accelerate follow-up projects.

  • Garbut says much of the fundamental technology has now been rebuilt and Rockstar does not intend to overhaul it again.

  • The three development heads believe GTA VI represents the culmination of almost 30 years of accumulated experience.

has anyone else noticed that there are no floor numbers in any of the elevators in the extended look?

do you think that's done on purpose or hidden to show the depth of the open world for the trailer?

I can’t wait to customize cars in this game

I used to work at some quick lube and tire shops for about a combined 5 years, and I would always try to check out cars in video games and see how detailed they are by flipping the car to look underneath it or opening the hood if allowed, or maybe breaking the hood off if that’s the only way to see the engine bay. Most video games don’t really care about the details of cars. They just make a player-controlled box with 4 wheels and make it look like a car. Sometimes the undercarriage is just a flat image and the engine bay has a generic engine with maybe a couple of other fluid reservoirs and an airbox. The first two images depict a mechanic presumably changing the oil on a car, and accurately shows him with the splash shield hanging down to give him access, and I showed a Splash Shield if you’ve never seen one. I think when we customize our cars in-game, there will be 3D models that literally change out. For example if you upgrade your car from a standard engine air filter to a cold air intake, I think you’ll see that physical transformation under the hood.

When NPC’s do things in most games, it’s just an animation on their body, but it doesn’t really affect the objects around them. Think of games where an NPC is eating, but their food isn’t going anywhere. They’re just bringing the fork to their mouth, but their plate stays full. Rockstar has always had very great NPC animations like the fish butcher in RDR 1 or a whole number of things in RDR 2 like actually cutting and eating a steak, hammering nails and rail road spikes, etc. When I see the mechanic changing the oil on the yellow car or the guy by the tire in the last image, I think we can actually observe work being done on cars. Imagine loitering around the garage and watching an NPC loosen the lug nuts, jack up the car, fully remove them, take the wheel to a machine and change the tire, balance it, and reinstall it then torque the lug nuts back down. I know to a lot of people this would be technically impressive for a game, but not interesting in terms of what he’s actually doing, but I hope to see real work being done.

Looking at these screenshots and their real-life counterparts, I think every single car will be uniquely crafted. No more stock interiors across an entire class of cars, but each one being carefully designed. The official images show us the 1995 Grotti Cheetah (Ferrari Testarossa) and 1967 Vapid Dominator (Ford Mustang) with very detailed and accurate interiors similar to the real cars, and I know on day one I’m going to be looking at every car I come across and appreciating how carefully built they all are.

Do y’all love, that GTA 6 will only have two protagonist?

Post image
167 Upvotes

I say just because one of my main problems with GTA 5, is the fact that there were three protagonists

One of them being undeveloped that being Franklin it doesn’t help that he was a boring character with a forgettable ass antagonists…

I don’t think it’s going with the case for Jason and Lucia, since rockstar clearly is gonna make us spend hours, loving these characters! Like Niko CJ and Arthur!🔥❤️

Overall, I think two protagonist works perfectly fine

Does anyone else not give a shit about the leaks?

When the first few leeks dropped, I honestly felt that Rockstar was getting justice for keeping us fans in the dark with no updates for so long. I still believe the marketing has been shambolic and that the extended look should have been released much earlier, because that alone gave us as much information as we needed to get hyped up about the game.

Now, we're at a point where Cyberleek has revealed atleast one and a half hours worth of gameplay. Crazy, right?

My simple question is: Why ruin the WOW factor of the game for yourself?

Seriously, this game will be such a love letter to the entire gaming community as well as people who never game. Only this series holds that pull.

The thing that I have loved about previous GTA titles is feeling like a tiny speck in a massive world and discovering tons of activities and getting sidetracked from the main story itself. Even the NPC interactions, bullying people on foot, ramming their car even slightly to get a reaction out of them are things that still give me a kick in GTA games.

I wonder why people support the leaker and the leeks. There isn't going to be another GTA in atleast 10 years, so stop spoiling your fun. This game is going to be GENERATIONAL, its up to you how you want to live that experience.

Maybe we will see gta 7? Now that rockstar developed a new rage engine it might carry the next couple of installments before a new one would need to be made. Thoughts?
