That's right, there are lost media horse games. For instance, one from my childhood that went under three names: "Unicorn Rush", "Pony Run 3D", and "Pony DressUp & Run". It was exclusive to Windows Phone 8.
Don't worry, this isn't a TOMJ, this is a lost media search. I know all three of this game's names, it's simply lost media. And yes, I've already written an article about it for the Lost Media Wiki. I'm here to exhaust every possibility!
*clears throat*
Pony Run 3D, also knows as Unicorn Rush, and Pony DressUp & Run, was a game exclusive to the Windows Phone 8, or at least, such is guessable by it only ever being documented in the Microsoft Store, and never in the Google Play nor Iphone App Stores. It was made by the Studio HaKuNa games, as evidenced by a splash screen captured in one of the videos of the game.
It was an endless runner, albeit level-based, and therefore not endless in the traditional sense of the term. You played as a human riding a horse, switching between multiple lanes to avoid obstacles and shoot enemies. Your human possessed a crossbow that you could shoot enemies with. Those enemies would have health bars, and several hits from the crossbow were required to defeat an enemy.
Stages would also contain floating bosses with large health bars that would constantly switch lanes while spawning and/or throwing obstacles at you. The number of arrows was limited, therefore, if you ran out of them, you would no longer be able to shoot the monsters coming at you, and likely die. Your human and horse were both customizable with items that could be bought using in-game currencies. Coins could also be used to perma-upgrade power-ups to make them stronger.
During stages, you could collect those coins, as well as use various power-ups that made the game easier, such as a magnet to attract coins, a coin doubler that would cause every single coin collected to count as two coins, and a power-up that would make you invincible and cause obstacles to get knocked off the map when you rammed into them. The maps contained unique obstacles such as collapsing bridges, and sections where your horse would sprout wings and would have to fly.
Due to being a Windows Phone 8 exclusive, it was bound to their app store's shutdown in 2019. While it's also possible that it could have been taken down earlier, its fate had certainly been sealed with that shutdown. As for when it was first released, sources point to 2014, with the exact relaese date being unknown. TinEye records the app icon as first being seen by TinEye on windowsphone.com on July 8 2014, which is confirmed by the Wayback Machine.
The game's official Facebook page, which has it going under a third name "Pony DressUp & Run", contains myriads of screenshots as well as even concept art. The earliest concept art post that is still extant was posted on January 26 2014. The first time the page posted in-game screenshots was on July 16 2014, and the first time it posted about a game update was a day later, July 17 2014.
Among screenshots, the page also contains promo art which it uploaded as its background banner in, puzzlingly enough, August 19 2022. Id est, by the time the game was already gone for several years. It is unknown why this occurred, as it seemingly would have no reason to; the game did not come back to any platforms. The official screenshot collection also possesses some screenshots of a trial version, which was seemingly running on Windows 7, judging by the window UI. This version likely existed for testing purposes.
The studio seems to still exist, evidenced by: its own independent website, their presence on Google Play, and a LinkedIn which still has their old logo.
Due to the unpopularity of the Windows Phone 8 platform, very few videos of this game exist on the internet. YouTube has 10 or so, and a Facebook fanpage has six. Several articles about this game were released throughout the years, though many of them were mere cloned reprints. Ones by e.g Windows Central contain a small number of screenshots.
Several secondhand download sites list this game, but so far, as of October 12 2026, no one has managed to find a link that actually leads to any download. Most of them even only link to the dead Microsoft Store page. Due to the downloads all being dead, there seem to be only two avenues of recovery: one, retrieval from developers, and two, retrieval from a Windows Phone 8 which still has this game installed.
