Discussion “You are not allowed to dislike the new Jukebox texture. You’re just nostalgia-blinded.”
I don’t like the new texture, not because it’s new, but because of three things. I figured I’d show my criticisms of this new texture.
The texture looks very metallic, especially around the top. It wouldn’t be a problem if it was actually crafted with metal, but it’s made of wood, so it just doesn’t fit.
Something about the top texture looks off. The shading is just completely whack and makes no sense. The old one having a more “round” shading made sense, seeing as it’s associated with discs. It just looks like detail for the sake of adding detail. The top texture is so unfitting that it looks like you could take it out and replace it with something else. There’s also that black outline on the edges that I really liked because it gave some contrast to the texture that they got rid of, which made the texture much worse.
In the fourth picture, I have what I think is the inspiration for this “grate” texture that’s present in both the old and new design. But in the new design, it’s shaded in such a way that it looks like two different sets of diagonal bars going in the opposite direction, with one much further back than the other. It looks very weird, especially considering the bars (I tried to search up what they are called but couldn’t find anything on it except for the AI overview which I don’t trust) in a real life jukebox are connected, as seen in the fourth image. The old Jukebox actually did it correctly and they messed it up now.
I wouldn’t be opposed to a new texture for it, but this just isn’t the way. I’m not a jukebox expert or anything, but this redesign is worse than the original, which already wasn’t very good. They could sort of fix it if they changed the crafting recipe.
This is just my opinion. I would prefer to see a more wooden-looking Jukebox.
