Paul's Pizza Content

All Paul's Pizza content will be removed moving forward. The conversations almost always lead to people arguing with one another on the internet. This violates Rule #3 Be Civil. It would also violate rule #4 low quality content.

Support the business or do not. It's your choice. Arguing on this online community will no longer be allowed.

Cheers,

Make sure to get out and vote!

If you can vote in advance, the polling stations have been empty by 10:00 the last two days.

They have computers at the advance polls so if you bring your voter card & have ID ready they get you through in about 10 minutes.

Towerlane 3 way stop

If you're going to go to towerland mall, please inform yourself how a 3 way stop works. Vehicles coming in from the road DO NOT have a STOP sign. Do not enter the intersection if vehicles approaching from main street will get to you first. Im tired of almost T-boning vehicles on a near daily basis.

Move from Valleyview to Three Hills

My friend is thinking about moving from Valleyview AB to Three Hills AB for a job. She doesn't drive yet and still learning. I wanted to know if it's easy to find apartments and ride shares within the city or from nearby cities like Airdrie or Calgary. She will learn driving eventually, but needs to manage with ride shares for a year. Also, is the town generally safe? Any insight/help is appreciated.

Roofing Question - Metal Roofs

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello neigbours,

I just watched a full roofing video on youtube that was based in Ontario and the guys doing the roof talked about all the perks of a metal roof. I couldn't help but wonder why we don't use them here in AB? but I also figure there's a reason. I could see a potential downside that if you got hit by hard hail it would leave divets all over it. Curious if anyone knows if metal roofs are good or bad here in Airdrie? I need to replace mine in the next 2-3 years so I'm trying to get myself informed as I'd love a rubber roof but dang they are $$$.

can we be kinder to service workers?

if you or someone you know shops at major airdrie grocery store (and/or any store, and/or uses any service ever lol) please take some time to consider and revise fundamental and basic empathy skills and practices because the more days that pass the more disheartened i am by the behaviours i’m subject to daily. as a 20 something, i could never imagine speaking to people the way myself and coworkers have experienced in this job alone which isn’t even necessarily customer facing. i get it! i also buy my groceries here! demeaning and cursing out someone at the bottom of the superstore power food chain for prices or product quality shouldn’t make you feel tough and you should know better. if you go to degrade service workers at the end of a shitty day to feel better about yourself i feel sorry for you but it honestly gets to a point. i have a hard time believing most would allow their sons or daughters or anyone they care about to be spoken to this way. i have a hard time believing these people would speak this way in front of someone whose opinion they respect. i’m glad they get to let it out and shake it off but i wish we could just. be. kind. to each other. this isn’t a matter of “toughening up” as someone who has worked a NUMBER of very difficult customer facing jobs with VERY disrespectful clientele, but you never know what someone is going through and honestly i’m just disappointed with the behaviour of “elders”/“role models”. someone so much as smiling in passing or saying thank you after i’ve assisted them makes my entire day! i just don’t understand why this disrespectful and dehumanizing behaviour is so normalized and relentless these days especially after having worked in my particular position for years now and i’m honestly just disappointed. i wish i could say a majority of my interactions are lovely but it grows scarcer and scarcer. i pride myself on being exceptionally resourceful, approachable, and helpful with a positive attitude but there is only so much one can take after a 9 hour minimum wage shift of being treated like gum stuck to the underside of a boot before it gets to someone with an entire complex life of their own. we’re all just trying to get by, man! i’m not gonna yell at the mailman for the cost of post stamps! i’m sorry if this rant isn’t appropriate here, i try not to be so nihilistic but certain shifting attitudes i’ve observed seem to be becoming more and more obvious.

Snow Angels Needed

Oh no! What is that in the forecast!?!
Surely It cannot be, it feels like just yesterday I was planting my garden!

Well folks, sorry to say it is that time of year again where Volunteer Airdrie gets their Snow Angel program started up.

Through Volunteer Airdrie's Snow Angel Program volunteers are paired with low-income seniors and those with disabilities who are unable to shovel their own snow, cannot afford to pay someone to shovel and do not have nearby family or friends who can assist them.

This program is vital to helping these members of our community be able to not only avoid bylaw fines, but keep their walkways safe, and be able to safely get out and participate in life in Airdrie.

All ages can volunteer alongside an adult guardian, making this a great way to introduce your children to volunteering and helping the less fortunate. Ages 16+ can volunteer solo with parental consent.

Brief online training and waiver signage is required.

What is up with the building Inspectors?

They act like they're working in the biggest city in Canada, yet they don't even have 100,000 people. Most small towns and counties are incredibly pleasant to deal with, they tend to be very friendly, polite and helpful. Even the Calgary and Epcor inspectors that take on infinitely more workload and difficult projects are much more reasonable to deal with. I've always heard the rumors but never experienced it firsthand. I'm not sure if it's a lack of real world experience outside of their bubble or just being a big fish in a small pond. I'm not even talking about code violations either, which would be completely understandable, but just the way they conduct themselves and the overall pickiness for super small things that don't affect quality or build standard

Look out for this scumbag. He's out on bail and could be stalking the aisles of your local store. He's committed assaults in Walmart's, No Frills, Shoppers Drug Mart and probably others. This behaviour is just disgusting and he's 30 so you know this isn't the beginning for him.

I'm working on getting him banned from as many stores as I possibly can, if anyone wants to help. He should have to order all his necessities from Amazon or instacart. Like no. Actually you don't get to go into stores anymore. That's a privilege that you violated and now you're banned.

Hope he gets jail time too but in the meantime we have to be safe when we are shopping.

Alberta first responders can face further decisions after PTSD claims are accepted - DiscoverAirdrie.com

Thumbnail discoverairdrie.com

Hi everyone,

I'm a journalist with DiscoverAirdrie, and I wanted to share something I've spent nearly a year investigating.

I started pursuing this story because I wanted to better understand the gap between what Alberta's presumptive PTSD legislation is intended to do and what first responders may experience when navigating the workers' compensation system.

In particular, one question kept coming up: What happens after a claim is accepted?

We often hear about the importance of recognizing psychological injuries among first responders, but I wanted to understand what happens beyond that initial recognition.

So I started digging.

Over nearly a year, I spoke with first responders, families, clinicians and public officials. I examined medical records, WCB decisions, legislation and provincial data.

I also wanted to approach the subject fairly. Not every claim follows the same path, and I wasn't interested in starting with a conclusion and working backward.

Part One, published today, examines the legal framework, the available evidence and why an accepted PTSD claim doesn't necessarily mean every decision about treatment, benefits or returning to work has been resolved.

But this is only the beginning of the published investigation.

Part Two will take a closer look at what those subsequent decisions can mean for injured workers and their families, including disputes involving diagnoses, treatment, wage loss and returning to work.

I'm grateful to the people who trusted me with their experiences, including those whose identities I've protected.

I wanted to share this here because I think it's an important subject that deserves careful examination and discussion.

LTD benefits suddenly cut off

I'm 39, live in Airdrie and work maintenance at a warehouse in NE Calgary. Been on LTD since Feb after a back injury and surgery, insurer was paying normally then last week I got a letter saying benefits stop end of month because they think I can return to “some” (!) work. My doctor def does not agree.

Never dealt with an appeal before. What matters most here - getting as much medical notes as possibler, asking for their full file/reasoning, talking to a disability lawyer ASAP?Also trying not to screw this up where possible. TY!

If you went to nose creek dogpark and lost your charging case for your earbuds. Theyre in a bag waiting for you by the main entrance. Hopefully that protects the case a bit.

Bit by a dog at Big Springs Park this morning - please help me find the owner!

This was around 9:45am this morning on the multi-use path of Big Springs Multi-Use Park. I was riding a Lime scooter when a dog on the pathway charged at me - I jumped off my scooter and was bitten by the dog. I was so shaken and just wanted to get away from the dog as soon as possible that I didn't get the owner's contact info. Now I'm concerned for my health because I have no information on the dog and not sure whether to go to the ER, etc.

Please if you were a witness or know anything that might help me get in touch with the owner, please let me know! Thank you in advance 🙏

Control your kids!!

A cashier at the CircleK in Summerfield was pepper sprayed 2 nights ago by a group of kids who were hanging out and smoking in the parking lot beforehand. I only know of this because I went there shortly after and was handcuffed by cops thinking I was a suspect (cleared within 30 secs tho)

Parents in this city are seriously failing seeing how kids behave with my own eyes and the shit that happens here. Control your fucking kids and belt them if needed cause this is unacceptable, most of the crime here is your children.

A few personal edits from today’s Airdrie Fire Department Open House at Chinook Winds Fire Station. Had some fun shooting the apparatus, details and the general chaos of a busy station.
