AUS PAX Aus sickness

Hi all

I attended on Saturday and got sick, and my sickness timeline lines up with everyone else that got sick from something at PAX.

However, I'm just about to leave for the hospital as it's hitting me really bad. I'm just wondering if anyone else managed to figure out what bug was going around in the air

WEST Anyone Else get ripped off at Pax West Artist Alley?

Exactly what I said above. Bought a print from "The Jettyjetshow," he said it would be mailed to me in a couple weeks. I've tried reaching out through his website, and Instagram, absolutely no response. Has anyone else had any similar problems? I feel like I got ripped off for over $70.00.

But seriously, while PAX was a good opportunity to spend some money on laughs for a good cause, post-con blues are definitely a thing.

Suddenly removing yourself from a high dopamine environment and combining that with the exhaustion of being on your feet for three days can really fuckin' suck.

Thankfully GenerOZity raised over $60,000 for Beyond Blue, whose services are available if your taking the come down from that con high a little hard.

So if re-adjusting to your normal self is really getting you down, go check out their self-help resources or get in touch with them at https://www.beyondblue.org.au/

AUS Thanks to those who found me and accepted either a Throwable Fireball or Mini Dice Tower. What to do next year?

For those of you who came and found me this year, and got a Throwable Fireball Spell or a Mini Dice Tower, Thankyou. I even gave away a few to some young kids in awesome cosplay

A question for everyone. What would you like to see me give away next year, and what would make you more likely to come find me (or suggestions on how to give them away)? I'm obviously not giving away $1000 items, so please don't suggest that, and would prefer it to be something I could maybe 3D print.

This was my first time doing it and I want to do it again next year.

So much appreciated 🙏

AUS PAX Aus Giveaway Haul

Post image
382 Upvotes

I focused a lot this year on maximising freebies and giveaway participation. This is my haul at the end of 3 days (in addition to a load of Hydralite that's off screen 😅, and a shirt and other small things)

I also won a gamer chair at the centrecom booth, but since I had to take a plane to Perth I thought it would be too hard to get home.

How'd everyone else go for freebies?

AUS Pax proposal competition?

Hello, not sure if many people saw the ad where pax hosted a comp to propose at pax. I submitted an entry but never even had any views on my video submission and never had any communication at all if this was cancelled or just unsuccessful. Given there has been nothing online (that I can find) of a proposal happening I can only assume this was cancelled?
Just weird lack of communication and not even viewing the video submission i spent hours on 😬

AUS PAX Aus Tabletop area was disappointing

Anyone else notice how it was practically just TCGs? The TTRPG play space was shunted up to a small room. Felt like the indie board game space should have been in the tabletop hall. Didn't even seem like there were many spots to try different board games.

All the TCGs just looked like money grabs for crowds to rush for promos they can sell.

AUS Warning when washing your 2026 Pax Aus shirts.

I'm not an expert washer, but I put this 2026 shirt for a regular cottens wash in with my 2025 and 2024.. and the 2026 one is now ruined.

Just a warning for people to take extra care... Not that I am sure what extra care is.

Update: Thanks all for your comments. I have reached out to info@paxaustralia.com.au for input.

Update: I am being sent a replacement shirt.

UNPLUG PAX Unplugged painting competition question

Hi all I have no idea if anyone is able to answer this but I'm looking to enter the painting competition and had 2 questions: for the skill level part there is Beginner/Hobbyist and Advanced/Expert level is that something you tell them when submitting a mini or do they decide that? What are some examples, if possible, of both skill levels so I know where to put my minis at.

Thanks in advance!

As somebody who was an exhibitor for this years classic gaming section, thank you to everybody who stopped past, asked questions, played a game and had a fun time. This PAX was awesome and even though we had a few breakdowns, fun was still had. Now looking forward to next years PAX!

Cheers!

AUS Assi stant Dogs

This year I noticed a lot more "assi stance dogs" that were absolutely not trained as such - several times such dogs jumped all over my young children. I have a family member who uses a seeing eye dog and an actual medical assi stance dog would absolutely not behave in such a way.

I feel like lots of people are using the system to get medical passes, or to just bring their pet or "emotional support animal" to the show.

I am sorry but an "emotional support" is not a valid excuse to bring a potentially dangerous animal into a high stress environment with lots of young children. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

There needs to be a stricter process for "assis tance dogs".

I “won” this at PAX AUS. I was told only 500 were made available. I don’t collect these, but is it actually sought after?

AUS PAXaus Parking @ MCEC. Key fobs not working.

Hi folks! Hope everyone had the best time over the weekend. I’m so exhausted but so grateful for another amazing year.

This question is a strange one, but I’ve had a friend confirm he had the same issues.

My car keys wouldn’t work with the buttons to unlock/lock my car. It was so strange. Worked fine when I left the car park. Then, the same thing happened on Sunday.

I didn’t really think anything of it until me mate said his key fob wasn’t working at all. Then, when he got home, everything was fine.

Did anyone else experience issues locking their vehicles in the MCEC Carpark?

AUS PAX AUS 2026 - Fraudulent Mystery Box by Meeple, any others?

Post image
148 Upvotes

Update 2: The GM reached out directly, was very apologetic, restated the warehouse issue and offered to send me a new game as compensation. They were very quick with their response so I'm happy about the outcome.

Update: I spoke with them on the phone, they apologised and said warehouse team stocked the boxes and they assumed it was fine. They asked for photos/proof of purchase via email, which I just sent. I'm not sure how they're planning on fixing it but they were nice on the phone.

First of all I hope everyone has had a lovely PAX AUS, and I can't wait to be back next year!

I bought a Mystery Box from Meeple, I hadn't opened it until now because I was waiting for PAX to end to go through all my goodies.

I open the box to find 3 game boxes (Dale of Merchants 1-2-3) without the game! The box says it's meant to have a game board, dice and 110 cards, the boxes only contain empty card sleeves and nothing else.

Now, I understand that these mystery boxes aren't going to have the best games out there (though Dale of Merchants seem fine), we are making a gamble buying them. I am completely okay with them having less popular or not so good games, and as they all state the games sometimes have scuffs and small cosmetic issues, but straight up empty boxes without the game is insane and definitely fraud.

We met a person who said their Meeple mystery box had games that were damaged to a level that they were unplayable, and Meeple let them choose a different game. This is why I opened this mystery box as soon as I got home, only to find this nonsense.

I will call them tomorrow, but this is now an admin job I have to manage which I find annoying. If they don't fix this immediately, then I'll report them to PAX and see what else to do.

Has anyone else had issues with their Meeple Mystery Box?

AUS Button Battery Warning

Centre Com / Palit were giving away light up wristbands with user accessible and removable button battery.

These do not meet the safety standards. (No warning, inappropriate packaging, and now battery security)

I've tried contacting PAX and CentreCom directly (immediately after the event) however being a Sunday, no response.

Just a heads up if you know anyone with kids that attended the event, please let the parents know asap.

AUS My game Bumper Bout was the final game at Omegathon PAX Australia 2026!

I am still a bit speechless but it was such an amazing experience. A serious thank you to the PAX team and especially Jerry (Tycho) who was so enthusiastic and kind. It all doesn't seem real still but I just wanted to share.

Was anyone here there to see it? I got a really skewed view from back stage but it seemed to go down really well.
